COVER SHOT:  JET FUNNY CARS WILL ONCE AGAIN MAKE UP THE BIG SHOW THIS WEEKEND AT LUSKVILLE

*Panic Attack Racing Nostalgia Weekend started off Saturday with a 200 car turnout for the whole day and Jim Hewitt taking home the big win in the Nostalgia Foot Brake race. The car count for the Saturday and Saturday Night Cruise was one of the best of the summer as we head into the last month of the racing season.
*More new cars again this weekend which is another great sign for next summer as Ron Hendricks showed up with his brand new rear engine soft tail dragster. Ron who comes from Arnprior is no stranger too racing or too Luskville Dragway but has been setting out the last few years was competitive right out of the box. This veteran competitor was always behind the wheel of a door car, and I will go out on a limb and say it will be a very short time before he visits the winners circle with this very competitive Digger.
*The Gatineau Mustang Club was also part of the Saturday's huge turnout and they two showed up in force with many Mustangs that we have never seen at the track. The racing was very competitive and some of the Mustangs where very, very fast for street driven cars. As it turnout out the fastest Mustang in the field who was awarded a trophy for his record, would also go on and win the entire event with his low 11 second Stang. In the Finals Martin Chartrand and his 1990 Mustang used his starting line quickness to get the jump on Yves Laurin of Chelsea, Quebec and his 1978 Mustang for the victory. This event was met with a lot of car nuts having a great time with in their own club and is something we encourage other car groups to do, your very own class run off's, in fact look for the Cornwall Cup too take place one weekend in Sept, where a car club from Cornwall will have a eliminator field for their group at Luskville Dragway.
*Just a quick reminder to drivers and teams pit gates will open Friday at 12:00 for parking and we will be using the upper gate Friday Only, so if your arriving Saturday use the regular gate behind the control tower. There will be a gamblers race Friday Night with a $50. entree fee, time trials will start at 6:00 and eliminations will go around 7:30-8:00 we also welcome all street cars who want too take part as well. We hope that everyone that can comes out this weekend so we can put a finishing touch on the season, the Ottawa area is rich with great race cars and this weekend will see some incredible action. We would also like to say a personal Thank You too Denis Black and Panic Attack Racing for help make the Nostalgia weekend what it was, again we are very, very lucky for the support we recieve.

JESSUP GAINS GROUND, DAVIS RUNNER UPS, MICHAUD AND SHIELDS ROUND OUT SUNDAY WINNERS: AUG 30th.
Another incredible weekend weather wise, and another great turnout out of both race cars and spectators help set the stage for what is possibility the best season ever at Luskville Dragway. If next weekend, The Mr. Transmission Fall Bracket Finals and Jet Car Show lives up to its hype and the rest of the season, then 2010 will go down as a great season. With Saturday's show helping to set the stage for Sunday the fans and the racers where ready too enjoy a afternoon of big time drag racing, and that is exactly what they got. Kyle Jessup kept his points championship quest alive, and kept his second half of the season hot streak intact as he whittled his way to the finals on a Nostalgia Day race presented by Panic Attack Racing which had NO buy backs for the first time in 20 years at the track. Jessup who worked his way too the finals with just straight out beating his opponents off the line, did so in the Finals as well where he met current points leader Troy Davis and once again had the better reaction time and the win light. For Davis however the afternoon was positive also, as he kept his points lead very much intact with Jessup only gaining 200 points (one round) on his lead heading into the last weekend of the points season and a two day event. The pressure is sure too be on both drivers as they compete for the championship as well as the big dollars that are up for grabs. In Semi Pro Gilles Michaud who is not a regular at the track, but someone everyone takes seriously when ever he is there showed just why as he met and defeated Mark Thompson for the Win and the $400. that went with it. This was Gilles first win in a while and that trend continued in the Jr. Dragster race as Bradley Shields running under the Ottawa Greenbelt Construction Banner and being tutored by Paulo Guist took his first ever win. Because of the fact there was not buy backs a number of drivers requested a consolation race where Chris Dennique of Arnprior prevailed over Sheldon Dodge of Renfrew for the $400. win. The fans where also entertained by two of Southern Ontario's fastest blown Super charged gassers through out the afternoon as well just too add to the entertainment. Nelson Bylk and his wild red 33 Willy's came out on top of this big show with support for his win coming from the fans who loved his wild half track burnouts. So now the stage is set for next weekend and two big days of points racing and big dollar payouts, lets hope we get the weather we have been blessed with most of this summer and I predict BIG TURNOUT.

Even though it is almost a racing season that is behind us, more new cars continue to pop up and rumors persist that even more new cars will be out. Brad Silverthorn from Pembroke debuted his 2009 off season purchase which was the former street roadster that Gary Milot campaigned for a number of years. The car which will run under the OK Tire Pembroke racing team banner made some very nice check out runs, and Brad looked very comfortable in the open cockpit car. This was a winning car when Gary had it and look for it too make its way back too victory lane sometime soon. Brad is a brand newcomer to the sport and will be an added addition to our track.
*Rumors keep coming out that a new dragster will make Arnprior, Ontario home very soon, looks like a former drag racer cant stand not being a current drag racer, so stay tuned to this web site for all the news. My belief is this will be one of the busiest off season's ever as more and more individuals get involved with drag racing.
*Wow, once this upcoming weekend is over we only have the fall bracket Nationals and regular racing is over for another summer, boy how time flies when you having fun. Just a heads up for the Long weekend in Sept the upper gate will only be open on Friday, so anyone arriving after Friday will have to use the lower gate which is the one located near the control tower. Luskville Dragway will be open every Saturday until Oct 2nd for time trials, street racing and cruise nights.
*And as we talk about the season coming too a close everyone should be aware that Banquet Tickets are now available at the track for those planning on attending this season's last big party. Great Food, Live Band, Plenty of Cash Payouts and lots of fun for everyone, Nov 13th. at the Hampton Inn.
*It is with great sadness that we inform everyone that former Drag Racer and all around good guy, Steve Plante passed away on Thursday August 26th. Steve was a part of the racing at Luskville Dragway during the 90's and the Puzzles Sports Bar days. Steve worked at McKesson Canada and was a very, very good pool player as well as a good drag racer. The drag racing community gives all of us the joy of an expanded family, as we spend so much time together at the race track, but it also gives us many more times like this because of the larger family and is something we should think about at all times.

Hey to everyone, just working on web site now, but want too say the racers, the crews and the staff did an amazing job, getting the track ready to race, with rain in the forecast is not an easy venture, and after going through that on Saturday most thought the same would happen Sunday, BUT IT DIDN'T and once again we beat the weather man. Good thing we don't close the gates when the weather man says its going to rain. Yes it didn't look good but everyone worked together, the racing was great, Joey's Wheel stand was spectacular to say the least, and we got er all done, went back to Busters for the Back too the Bar Party, everyone had a great time. Big thank you to Darlene and Larry from OK TIRE PEMBROKE, and Paulo Guist of OTTAWA GREENBELT CONSTRUCTION. And yes we are going too honor ALL of those pass's that were not used this weekend, next Sunday Aug 29th. We will be also running the Gatineau Mustang Club event that day as well. THANK YOU
*As we said last week, lots of talk of car purchases and such, and this weekend the pot got stirred even more as rumor has it that one possibly two of the ADM Motorsports Dragsters may be sold. Again it is the silly season time so until its done, its not done, but other purchase's where talked about as well so stay tuned.
*So just a reminder to all of those people that have either OK TIRE PEMBROKE or OTTAWA GREENBELT CONSTRUCTION pass's that where for this past weekend, they will be honored this Sunday at Luskville Dragway. We know that many looked at the skies, listened too the weather forecast and stayed home, so we want them to still enjoy a day at the races.
*Panic Attack Racing update: Grand Bend Motorplex, Lake Huron Ontario. During a rain delayed Extreme 32 Race Saturday followed by a rainout Sunday the Panic Attack Dragster improved it's best yet 1/4 mile ET with an 8.65 run. Special Thanks to pit neighbor Mike for sharing his support and experience. Next weekend Panic Attack Racing heads back East to Luskville Dragway for the Panic Attack Super Pro race and Family and Friends Appreciation Lunch on Sunday Aug 29.
*Just a note too all of this past season's Super Pro Winners, we will be running you off against each other during time trials on Sunday, prior to first round of eliminations in order too come up with a super pro winner to face off against Daryl Jensen for the King of the Track Wally, last thing on Sunday. Qualifiers are Jamie Tupper, Derek Malcolm, Troy Davis, Kyle Jessup, Paulo Guist,  and Tom Orr.

JESSUP, KOHL AND WILSON SCORE WINS: AUGUST 22/2010
Not sure where too begin with this past weekends story, however I guess we will start at the beginning, and that kicked off on Friday when one of the best regular day turnouts for race cars in the history of the track started to happen, as over a dozen of Shannonville regulars where some of the first through the gates to get set up. Things got going on Friday Night with testing and a gamblers race under the weather forecast that  said that that would be all the racing we would get in for the weekend. So as things wound down Friday Night many thought when Kyle Jessup put the winnings in his pocket from the race, that he would be the only one doing so this weekend, WRONG. When Saturday rolled around things did not look good as the first two cars made their way down the track the sprinkles started to fall, and even though the staff and a lot of volunteer's tried in vain to get the track back to racing stature, every time they came close it would start to sprinkle again. So at about 5:00 pm and 5 hours of trying to beat the weather man a decision was made to call it a day. So that mean extra time for the Texas holdem racers tournament that was too take place in the bar, and that it did with two tourney's being run instead of one. And yes everyone enjoyed the poker, but the threat of rain for the next day was on the back of everyone's mind and the weather man continued to say that was what was going to happen. And when Sunday Morning arrived everyone was pretty sure that the weather man was going to be right, as clouds filled the skies and the radar showed lots of rain about too fall, or at least that was what they said. However a determined staff, and a pit full of racers that wanted to race would not say know so after some extensive track drying under the heavy skies things finally kicked off at about 11:00 am with time trials. Four hours later, and a couple of brief rain drops thrown in the event went into the books with winners being crowned in all three categories. Kyle Jessup continued his hot streak by beating Steve Parkhurst's low 5 second 55 Chevy in the semi finals and Jamie Clarmo's Dragster in the Finals. Kyle pocketed a cool $2500. with Jamie taking home $1000. thanks to the generosity of our Advertisers Ottawa Greenbelt Construction and OK Tire Pembroke. Pat Kohl one of the winningest Semi Pro Drivers took home $700 for his win in Semi over Rookie of the year candidate Mike Devenny. Jacob Wilson took out Steve Clarmo in the Jr. Dragster final which wrapped up the day for everyone. A big thank you too all who made it happen, in particular Trevor Tandy who spear headed the large number of race cars from the Shannonville Track to travel to Luskville Dragway for this weekend, I really hope that all of our racers will do the same when we return the favor on Sept 19th. We assure all of our competitors that work is going on right now that will assure the prize packages at Shannonville that weekend will be GOOD.

Well the big weekend is upon us, and its shaping up too be REALLY BIG, just a heads up too everyone, this is also King of the Track Sunday which means all the winners of Super Pro this season, and all the winners of Semi Pro this summer will square off for the King of the Track Wally, after all is said and done on Sunday. So yes if you are a winner of one of this season finals you are automatically in the King of the track run off, which will include the winners from Saturday and Sunday of this weekend.
*EARLY START TIME ON SUNDAY, because of a couple of things that are happening a little differently this weekend we will be starting everything one hour earlier on Sunday. Which means that Eliminations will start at 12:00 instead of 1:00 pm. and Time Trials for Semi Pro will go at 9:30 Sunday Morning. (time trials begin at 12:00 on Saturday) One is because of the king of the track run off and the other is the fact that many racers are coming in from out of town this weekend, and finally because all awards and cash payouts are taking place at Busters Bar and Grill on Carling Ave, following the days activities as it is Back Too the Bar Day". Busters is of course one of our many stand out advertisers and will be bringing a bus load of patrons from the bar out too the track on Sunday to take part, many who have never been before.
*Lots of race cars for sale as we head into the last part of the season, so if your someone looking for a car don't hesitate to call if you don't see what you want, ask we can probably help you find it. A number of dragsters are for sale as Randy Urslak, Becky Ray, Derek Malcolm, Troy Davis and  Russ Adams all local teams looking to sell their current rides and have something new for 2011.
*If the Rumor mill is correct look for Denis Souliere to be behind the wheel of a certain Race Tech Dragster this weekend instead of his very familiar Corvette. Word has it that a deal is coming down that will see a certain Top Dragster pilot take ownership of the Wally Stroupe Pro Mod Car and run it in top sportsman next year as well as his Dragster in Top Dragster.
*Speaking of things for sale, yes Drag mart does work, Dan Zygmont informs me that he will be at Luskville Dragway next weekend to deliver his rear engine dragster too the new owner who is from Montreal. Dan will make a pass and the new owner will take delivery. The silly season has only begun.

When it rains it really rains, more rain fell Sunday Morning at the track than has fallen all season long, I mean it came down in buckets. The drainage ditches where running over along the sides of the property it rained so much in such a short period of time. And yes race tracks get rained out, and we have been very fortunate this season as we have not lost much because of weather at all, so I guess we just grin and bare it. The Saturday Night Apple Auto Glass Cruise Night did get put in the books with once again a good turn out of street cars. Now we look forward to next weekends big two day weekend with all of our friends from Shannonville making the trek to Luskville Dragway.
*We will be allowing parking starting at noon on Friday, using the lower gate only for the entire weekend, we will run a gamblers race on Friday Night as well as any street cars that want to come out and play. We also want to let the Gatineau Mustang Club know that we will be running their class championship on Sunday as well next weekend.
*After racing on Saturday a Texas Holdem Poker Tournament will be held in the bar, if you are interested  please contact Troy Davis to have your name added to the list of players, the list has already got a number of drivers and crew members so get in touch quickly. Troy's email address is tdave1029@hotmail.com

BITS FROM THE PITS AUGUST 12TH/2010
*SHANNONVILLE SEPT 19TH, LETS SHOW SOME SUPPORT,  yes it may seem like a long ways away but we would like to try and organize as many racers as possible from Luskville Dragway to make the trek to Shannonville. Our season will be over and they will be running two eliminators that day, so it will be just like a two day event for Super Pro, Semi Pro, and Jrs. Many of the Shannonville regulars are some of the best out of town supporters of Luskville Dragway, and we believe its time we returned the favor, so lets get on board right now and state that your going to be part of the Luskville Dragway Train heading to Shannonville for the Sept 19th race.
*Just in case you missed it our awards banquet is coming fast and the date is Nov 13th. at the Hampton Inn on Coventry Road, same place as the last few years.
*Well things just keep getting bigger and bigger for the Aug 21-22 weekend, as we have added time trials on Friday Night of that weekend, which obviously means we will be open Friday for parking. We are also going to run a all run gamblers race for anyone who is interested, cars, bikes, sleds all in a one race deal, if interested please let us know so we can cage response.

Received this very nice email from the Fredrick MacDonald race team from Montreal, and wanted very much to share it with all of you. We are often asked, how have you been able to keep doing this for as many years as you have, this email will answer many of those questions. This and type of emails like this that we do receive make it very much all worth while

MORE GOOD NEWS FOR JR. DRAGSTER DRIVERS, CLARMO CUP ANNOUNCED FOR SEPT 4-5: AUG 12/2010
We predicted that this would be a banner season for the Jr. Dragster competitors and I think that most would say it already has, well add another big one to the party. Jamie Clarmo the owner of Clarmo Auto Repair, and someone who is already involved advertising wise with Luskville Dragway has stepped up to allow us to add something special to the Jr. Dragster Program for the Sept 4-5 Weekend. The first annual CLARMO CUP will see the Jr. Dragster racers compete over the two days with winners being crowned both days and a overall Points winner for the two days walking off with the Clarmo Cup. All Jr. Dragster drivers who are present and competing in the weekend events will also receive a Luskville Dragway, Clarmo Auto Repair, Clarmo Cup Hoodie, just for being part of the weekend. The Hoodie's will of course be Orange in Colours as this is the colors of Clarmo Auto Repair and of course Jamie's Super Pro Dragster. Luskville Dragway and I know all of the Jr. Drivers and teams would like to pass their big thank you on too Jamie and the staff at Clarmo Auto Repair.

OK TIRE, OTTAWA GREENBELT CONSTRUCTION WEEKEND, ALSO KING OF THE TRACK SUNDAY: AUG 12/2010
With all the hype over the big payouts coming out next weekend with the OK Tire Pembroke Saturday Shootout, and the Ottawa Greenbelt, "battle for the belt" many have forgot that it is also King of the Track Sunday. This of course means that after both Super Pro and Semi Pro are done doing there thing, and winners have been crowned, the two will run off for the Aerospace Engineering King of the Track Championship which includes that last Wally of the season to be handed out. The Shannonville Dragway regulars have dominated this for the past two years as 2008 saw Dale Gauthier of Kingston take home the Wally, and last year saw Billy Smith also of Kingston do the same thing. This year the event has been made even bigger thanks too the tremendous generosity of Drag Racer Paulo Guist, the owner of Ottawa Greenbelt Construction, who has put up $2500. to win Super Pro on Sunday. This along with the fact that many racers love to support the event that is presented by one of the most popular drivers Luskville Dragway has, usually means large fields in all class's. This year the event has been expanded thanks too the great support of OK Tire Pembroke, which allows us to have a $1500. to win Saturday as a lead up to the big shoot out on Sunday. The semi pro cars have not been forgotten either as they will run for $500. to win both Saturday and Sunday. Yes it should make for some interesting running on the August 21-22 weekend, so make plans now to be part of the King of the Track Weekend. Just a quick reminder to all, all payouts will take place at Busters Bar and Grill as it is back too the bar party with lots of specials and great food, remember to use the Luskville Dragway #244 when ordering for special prices. Busters will also be bringing a bus load of fans who have never been too Luskville Dragway or any drag race before out too the track on Sunday.   FLYER

THE WEEKEND AFTER THE BIG ONE, WAS PRETTY GOOD: AUG 8/2010
The day after any big event is usually a bit of a let down, whether it be the day after Christmas, the day after a big party or the weekend after the biggest drag race of Luskville Dragway's year. However thanks to over 125 street cars and the odd Super Pro Car testing, the weekend after the big one was pretty good. Yes there is no question that most drag racers don't want to be doing anything the week after the Bracket but recovering, and so for the past many years we have not run any regular program at the track the weekend after the Big One, and have kept it strictly to street cars and test and tune. But thanks to a huge number of street cars and  a few test and tune cars the weekend after turned out quite well. With the great weather continuing the street cars turned out in pretty good numbers for August and the addition of Super Pro Cars like Grant Honeywell who was out for the first time in a couple of years, it  gave all of us a little fix, and made us start looking forward to next weekend and back to regular racing. So yes with the Bracket Bonanza now behind us we look forward to what is the back half of the season with only 6 days of racing left in the Benson Points Championship. This upcoming weekend will see test and tune Saturday with a cruise night Saturday Night and Sunday rolls around with the Apple Auto Glass Regular Day, as well as the Gatineau Mustang Shootout, which could add another 30 race cars to the Sunday Mix. The following weekend, Aug 21-22 sees us back to two big days with the OK TIRE PEMBROKE Saturday Shootout, and the OTTAWA GREENBELT CONSTRUCTION SUNDAY CHALLENGE. Sunday is also the NHRA King of the Track Day which always add's lots of excitement, and with the added prize money and the Busters Bar and Grill back to the bar party, well you get the idea, the excitement gets right back into high gear. We hope THAT ALL RACES will make plans to join us at Busters, who by the way will be bringing a bus load of fans out too the Sunday Show, as that is where all payouts will take place. The August 29 Show, Nostalgia Sunday is explained pretty good in the write up below, and then our second biggest show of the year, the Mr. Transmission Fall Bracket Finals and Coors Light Night of Fire Jet Car Show the long weekend in Sept will finish up our regular season. So yes its getting close to being over and one has to wonder where did the season go, it seems like just yesterday we where heading to Grand Bend and our first tour race, and now where looking at our last tour event.

NOSTALGIA SUNDAY TO BE REAL NOSTALGIA: AUG 6/2010
Even with the big one over, there is lots of excitement still surrounding Luskville Dragway and the races we still have left, and this week comes news of some more excitement, as once again an advertiser has help make things interesting. First of all we don't want anyone to forget about the Aug 21-22 OK Tire Pembroke Challenge, and the Ottawa Greenbelt Construction race for the "Belt" Sunday with $2500. to win super pro. And now to add something new too the Nostalgia Sunday Panic Attic racing as come forward to offset buy backs on that day taking us back to the old days (Nostalgia for sure). So for the first time in resent memory THERE WILL BE NO BUY BACKS IN SUPER PRO, yes that is right on Nostalgia Sunday the drivers will be taken back to the way it was many, many years ago, win or go home. We want to thank Denis Black for making this type of event possible and hope the drivers will enjoy a small piece of our past on Nostalgia Sunday. So this, along with the Two Day OK Tire, Ottawa Greenbelt Construction Weekend plus the Mr. Transmission Fall Bracket Nationals will finish up the season of regular drag racing at Luskville Dragway, where did the summer go too, of course we will be open all of Sept and up too the Oct 1st Saturday for testing and cruise nights.
