BITS FROM THE PITS: MAR 28/2016
*
First of all let me wish everyone a Happy Easter with hopes that you all had a good one, as I'm sure for most it is much like us, a time for family and friends, and a sure sign that racing season is just around the corner. With the drivers meeting only 2 weeks away, the Autorama Custom Car Show only 5 weeks away, it means the track is open in 5 Weeks, time slips by pretty fast to say the least. Again as we promised we will be reminding everyone on how important the drivers meeting, membership drive, and just everyone getting back together is this year, as we head into what is gong to be a HUGE year, I firmly believe.
*The Wes and Tina Clarmo racing team have been very busy this past winter, if you have been keeping up too this site you will have knowledge of that from the write ups on here. Well they have not stopped as this latest picture will show you as new paint has now been applied to the youngest Clarmo's new Jr. Dragster. The orange is a very familiar color when you put the name Clarmo in the picture, and Wes has done a very nice job on the car for Rookie Driver in 2016 Ryan Clarmo. Ryan has some big shoes to fill as Brother Aiden did win Rookie of the year as well as a number of races in 2015, nice job by the team. And too add to the Clarmo Race Team news this week, we are pleased to add Aiden's name to the Ogilvie Auto & Fleet Jr. Dragster High Roller race to be held on the Friday of this years Bracket Bonanza. As we have said many times Aiden was one of the mot impressive Jr. Rookies we have ever seen and will be a threat to take the big one at the Bonanza. The Jr. Dragster High Roller is the richest Jr. Race held anywhere in this country and winning it puts a huge star on your resume for sure. Right now this brings us to 10 cars with plenty of time to fill out the 16 only spots that are available, we are sure that a number of out of town drivers will add their names as we get closer.
*And big news out of "Team Orange" does not stop with the Wes and Tina Clarmo Team this week, as there is more BIG news out of the Jamie and Sherry Clarmo Team as well. Former standout Jr. Dragster pilot Steven Clarmo was surprised on his birthday with a HUGE gift. Steven went out too the garage to see his new Semi Pro Ride for 2016, a orange 1980 Malibu. This is a car that Jamie actually started racing with at Luskville Dragway, then sold to another racer, and now has bought it back were it will once again ride under the Clarmo Banner. This is not just a good story for Luskville Dragway, not just a good story for Semi Pro, it is just a alround good story. Steven who is one of the mildest and nicest young man you would ever want to meet, did a ton of winning in Jr. Dragster and with out question will be a force to reckon with in Semi Pro where he will compete for Rookie of the Year. Steven will also be eligible to run in the J&S Collision Future Champion Award where he will run against other former Jr. Dragster pilots, who have moved up and we have a lot of them. Steven is once again proof of something that NHRA Started years ago, that was done right and the evolution at our track proves that each and every year. One after another the Jr. Graduates have moved up to what we call the big cars, whether its Semi Pro or Super Pro. And what a list we have just in the last two years, Jacob Wilson, Bradley Shields, Rachel Ogilvie, Chevy Morrow, Dan Pillwein, Kale Urslak, and now Steven Clarmo.
*Why is this former semi pro racer sitting in a rear engine dragster, and why is he smiling like he just won a million dollars, stay tuned to Luskville Dragway's web site to read all about it. With the season coming fast you can expect to see plenty of news surrounding Luskville Dragway and the racers that raced and race there, even though its been a little quite on the new ride front we firmly believe that 2016 could be a all around record year, and we are going to do everything possible to make that happen.
*The new owners of the Custom Car Show at the EY Centre April 23-24 have their new web site up and I think you will see quite quickly that things are going to be better this year. There is still room to get your car in so give me a call, check it out at www.ottawaautorama.ca
J&S COLLISION CONTINUES TO SUPPORT THE FUTURE CHAMPIONS AWARD AT LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY: MAR 28/2016
To say that Jamie & Shelia Tupper have been leaders in our sport would be putting it mildly, from their very first big dollar bracket win in Elliot Lake, which seems like a long time ago, they have lead the way in local drag racing. Whether it be with there success in getting too the winners circle, their success of making more friends than the Easter Bunny or their desire to help as many racers as they can along the way. And in the case of Luskville Dragway and the Napa Tour, Jamie and Shelia have always gone above and beyond to help out in one way or another, including by bringing new drivers to the table as well as advertising dollars. Bringing new drivers this year will be more important than anytime in our history as we add the Canadian Super Tour as well. Jamie has also added a new ride to the stable this season as we wrote about here prior, and look out for the Vega to be a killer car for Tupper.  The success that we talk about at the race tracks that they travel too, is just an extension of their success in business as their J&S Collision would be the envy of many in that type of work. Located in Tilsonburg, Ontario it makes for many long drives to get too races in the US, Eastern and Northern Ontario, but that has never stopped this team from going and taking part in what they love too do. For years now J&S has backed one program or another, with the best appearing car award going on for the last 4-5 years, but this year Jamie and Sheila have decided to bring forward a program that we believe is not only exciting but is just another indication of this couples support of grass roots drag racing.
The J&S Collision FUTURE CHAMPION AWARD, will be given to the run off winner of all graduating Jr. Dragster Competitors who have moved up to Super Pro or Semi Pro in 2015 and 2016. In the case of Luskville Dragway a large group of former Jr. drivers will qualify for the CASH and Trophy awards to be presented at the season ending awards banquet. Jamie and Shelia will be the first too tell you that the Jr. Dragster program is unique and a needed asset too the future of our sport, and in the case of Luskville Dragway has been incredibly successful with the grooming of new drivers. Qualifications will be you must have moved up from Jrs. in the last two years, you must be a member of the Luskville Dragway Napa Series or the Napa Money Tour Series and you must compete at select events through out the year in order to qualify for the chase for the Championship which will be a run off between all of those that have qualified, at the season ending race Oct. 8-9. The Future Champion will be rewarded with cash and prizes as well as a notch on their résumé like no others, winning this title will be something like no one else has ever done, it will be big, and will be big to be part of it.
KKK KUSTOMS KARTS TO RIDE AGAIN AT LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY: MAR 28/2016
When we talk about the Luskville Dragway family there are many aspects of it that we should try to mention and we do try as often as possible and we try to do it as correctly as possible. The fact that many of the racers who own business's have always gone above and beyond to do as much as they could for Luskville Dragway, and one of those such racers is Kevin Morrow of Carleton Place, Ontario. Kevin who like many other drivers at the track as called Luskville Dragway his and his families summer home for a couple of decades now. Has watched his children grow up, drive race cars and make lots of friends at the track we like to call the friendliest place to race.  And Kevin like a number of other racers has always done as much as he could to help out at the track, even during the hard times he has always managed to keep his support going. Kevin is in the business of selling , cars, motorhomes and golf carts and with the US Dollar the way it is has not had an easy go of it, with the dollar being as low as it was. When your buying your stuff from the US, the dollar can be a killer and it has been as low as 43 cents so you can understand how hard that makes things. But even with that as a back drop we are proud and grateful to announce the Kevin will once again be involved with the track and will be supplying a custom golf cart for the track. This cart is just a small example of what Kevin  @ KKk (Kevin's Kustom Karts) can do for you with these golf carts. We hope too have the new version on display at the upcoming Autorama Car Show taking place on April 23rd. and yes at the track for the entire summer. If you have ever thought of owning a cart, now is the time, and there is no time better than right now to show our support for those that support us, give Kevin a call and arrange your new ride for this season. Luskville Dragway is very proud to be associated with Kevin and looking forward very much to showing off our new cart.
OTTAWA MUSTANG CLUB TO BE PART OF LUSKVILLE'S 2016 SEASON: MAR 28/2016
BITS FROM THE PITS: MAR 21/2016
*
Finally home from vacation and it feels good, not that we didn't have a good time, but there is no place like home, with our last stop on the way being a day at the Gator Nationals. Some personal observations, NHRA has pretty much instituted Top Sportsman and  Top Dragster into the National event program and many former super gas and Super comp racers are excepting this with open arms, maybe one day soon they will finally do away with throttle stop racing, one of the worst things that ever happened to our sport.
*No we haven't moved away from our traditional yellow highlighting, just thought it was appropriate with St. Patrick's day just a few days ago, and many of our news stories this week having a very GREEN THEME.
*Well spend a BAD morning at Gainesville as the race was plagued by rain, rain, and more rain and trust me, even if you are  a National Event Caliber Track when it rains its ugly. Gainesville, Luskville or any other race track, the rain can make it BAD, and Gainesville was bad they don't call it the swamp for no reason. However did some spend some time walking around, talking to some folks I have gotten to know over the years. There was plenty of Canadians there so there where lots to visit with, and with our plans to drive home the same day/night we did not stay all day for sure, with the weather the way it was. So hard to get a feel for the start to drag racing on the east coast, but something's stood out, the new Pro Stock Rules , HAS NOT brought any new numbers, get rid of them (15 Pro Stocks 28 Pro Mods). Pro Mod looked good get rid of pro stock and make Pro Mod 32 Cars, get rid of the good old boys club and you could have 64 Pro Mods in the PARK,  and the Fuel Pits seemed to be full, yes even Chris Karamazini was there, but if Force, Schumacher, Kalittia ever decide to quit NHRA has problems, these are the big draws, and even in the ROTTEN weather the crowds where growing by the time Diane and I headed North.
*Shops locally are busy as well, as can be seen by this picture supplied by Phil VanNoppen over at D&D Performance, as you can see by the line up of blocks getting ready for builds its shaping up niece. Rumor also rampant that a former, (long time ago) Semi Pro racer has been looking at some Dragsters for his return too the sport, good news all around if that happens.  And speaking of busy, a couple of local racers where very busy this past weekend as Paolo Giust attended his second race of the young season travelling with the team to Tulsa Oklahoma were he continued his torrid pace and made his way to the semi finals. Race was called do too cold weather and will be finished at the next event in Rockingham in April. Russ Adams and Jamie Tupper headed to Kentucky where Russ went out and strapped a hole shot on Scotty Richardson for a big $5000. win on day one of this event. Second day was rained out so the boys will have some time to kill as they are staying down for a second event before coming home.  They will head from Kentucky to Alabama where they will hook up with the Angers and Adam Bitzanis to compete in another big dollar event. Now the good news for Luskville Dragway racers doesn't stop as news just in Tom Orr goes to Semi Finals at the Gators in Gainesville, beats Jason Kenny in the Quarters. Everyone knows Toms history with Luskville but what a lot of people may not know is that Jason Kenny's first pass's in a dragster where right at Luskville Dragway as well.  You know I like to brag about Luskville Dragway racers who I say can run with the best of them and this weekend proved that once again, Way to go guys.
*Been home only a few days and we have been working hard on things from the time we got home, in fact prior to getting home we where talking with those back home on things we wanted to put into play. We will be adding significantly to the Canada Day weekend including a ton of stuff for the kids as we try and make it more than just a drag race for those that come from out of town as well as all the regulars. Stay tuned. FRIDAY JULY 1st.  Fire works, Golf tournament, Golf Cart Race, Kids Play Land, Pot Luck Racing Family dinner,
TDL TRUCK REPAIRS WEST MAKE SEMI PRO RACEING GRAND: MAR. 21/2016
Semi Pro Drag Racers competing in the TDL TRUCK REPAIR Championship in 2016 will once again be racing for a GRAND ($1000.) to win the season long championship. Thanks To Gregg Whelan and his company the drivers who compete each and every weekend and continue to be the back bone of the track will race for a big pot at the end of the rainbow. TDL is a family owned heavy truck, motorhome and heavy equipment company located at 158 Cardevco, just off the Road in Ottawa's far west end. Gregg who along with his wife and son Ryan are the backbone of this very successful company and can be found at the business every day. The success of their company was mirrored with their success when they drag raced with their Team Green Cuda" which they still have and all hope they return with someday soon. Ryan who was the driver of Team Green" has taken some time from drag racing to enjoy the raising of his young family, but both he and Gregg can be seen at Luskville Dragway during the season keeping an eye on what is happening in the Semi Pro Class and everything else. This support is a very big thing for the Semi Pro Drivers and puts their points fund in par with the Super Pro class, and has made the growth of this class that much more promising. We take our hats off to TDL Truck and Trailer Repair for the support of Luskville Dragway and in particular Semi Pro drivers.
NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT THIS YEARS BONANZA, AS "PURE INSANTITY IS ADDED" :MAR. 21/2016
One of the great things about running Luskville Dragway for 35 years, airport races since 1995, and out of town venues like I-Car, St. Thomas, Sanair, Cayuga, and Grand Bend, we have met a TON of great people. One of those such persons is Dave Wagner from Sault St. Marie, Ontario, a racer who worked his way up the chain of evolution to where today he runs a very potent Nostalgia Funny Car. Dave has been part of almost every north race we have done for more years than he or I care to remember, and this year the only thing that has changed is he will be headed to Luskville Dragway as well to be part of the 35th Anniversary Bracket Bonanza. The green Cuda which is famous for its LONG SMOKEY BURNOUTS is a fan favorite where it runs and I'm sure that it will be at Luskville Dragway as well. Dave was at our track many years ago when he was running a Olds bodied funny car, but this will be the first trip with the Green Machine. Again this is just one more thing that we have added and will continue to add as we work very hard to make this seasons Bonanza not just exciting, but memorable for all of those that attend. We thought this story went well this week with the write up about TDL West, as wouldn't it be cool if that Green Cuda was present also.
DODGE BOYS COMING WITH ALL "GUNNS" BLAZING, BRACKET BONANZA 2016: MAR 21/16
With everything that has been going on the past couple of years, with track improvements,  our great relationship with the racers in Montreal through our I-Car races and the Para Performance group and Drag Race Quebec, we have been getting the feeling that things were heading for a big one. And with the announcement a while back of the increased payouts for the Bonanza we really felt this would be the year that we take the event to the level it deserves, and this week another sign that we are heading in the right direction as a new Super Pro Door Car Racer has not only indicated that he is coming, but he is coming with both "Gunn's" blazing for victories. Veteran and successful Super Pro Racer Dave Gunn from Hamilton, Ontario has added his name and his "Top Gunn" Dodge to the Friday Door Car High Roller race, and make no doubts about this driver he can go all the way to the winners circle. Gunn who does most of his racing in the Southern, Ontario area has ventured to other big dollar races in the past and has run a couple of Napa Tour events over the years but has now trained his sites on what everyone calls the "Big One' the 2016 Bracket Bonanza. With the added purse for the Sunday portion of the event , and a split ladder all the way down to 8 cars don't be surprised if this "Sharp Shooter' isn't one of those left when we get down that far on Sunday. Also adding their name this week is Quebec City racer Stephan Matteau who will bring his bright yellow Cuda to Luskville Dragway for only the second time. Like Dave Gunn though Stephan is someone who can not only win the High Roller but cold also win the big one. A racer who will also have some friends coming with him for the first time ever continues the signs that we have been seeing that this could be the year.  This along with last weeks additions gets the door car high roller moving in the right direction and hopefully we can add many more before the race weekend rolls around.

Drivers Meeting April 9th, coming fast spread the word this is a important time of the year and we need everyone to be there, never has a drivers meeting been more important than this year, tell your friends. A few drivers cant wait for the opening of the season locally as the Angers and Adam Bitzanis are heading down south to Alabama and some big dollar bracket racing before we get it going locally. Other racers who are also get a jump start on the season will be Russ Adams and Jamie Tupper who are headed to Kentucky for some big dollar racing, prior too the Canadian scene getting underway.
*Here is the first look at Mike Chenier's new trailer paint scheme which as you can see is very elaborate and of course matching his new motorhome which was added too the team at the end of 2015. Being in this sport over 40 years has allowed me too watch how the evolution of not just the cars in our sport, but also what we call the support equipment as well. When we started racing we slept in the back of a covered pick up truck, and thought we where kings, today its a must to have a set up like Mike's just to keep up with everyone else. However it is good for our sport as the tow units are part of the show when the fans come to the track, something we need more of.
*With the signing this week of the last two advertisers from 2015, we can proudly state that everyone that was involved in 2015 has returned for 2016, and that to say the least is GREAT NEWS in a year where more major improvements are planned for Luskville Dragway. On a bit of a downer though we have been informed that last years grounds keeper has decided to move on too something different, and Chris Chenard will be missed. He became a very important person at the track and kept it immaculate through out the week, he also played a part in the activities all weekend long and seemed to enjoy what he was doing.  The hunt has begun to find someone to replace him and hopefully we can with someone that is as good as Chris was. If you know of anyone who might be interested please have them contact us. We believe that the rest of the staff will be returning as last year gave us a great staff, probably the best group we have ever had at the track. Anyone that runs their own business will quickly point out that your staff is your key to success.
*Look for more exciting news  surrounding this years 35th annual Bracket Bonanza, nothing "Funny" about it this years event as we predict it is going to be the Biggest, the Best ever, don't miss out, mark it on your calendar right now.
SPEEDY AUTO SERVICE'S CONTINUE TO PLAY A BIG PART AT LUSKVILLE IN 2016: MAR 14/2016
Mike Chenier the owner of Speedy Auto Service has very quickly established himself as one of the top Super Pro Racers at Luskville Dragway and the number of tours he competes in. Coming on the scene a short time ago, after buying out the complete Ray Miner Racing Operation, from motorhome to race car to golf cart. Well not much of that original racing gear is around these days as Mike has very quickly updated all of the above, including the addition of a new motorhome last fall, making the long trips to Wawa and Elliott Lake much easier. Since coming on the scene with the dragster that he purchased from Ray, the entire Chenier race team and family have become a Huge part of the every weekend racing at Luskville Dragway, as this is a team that more often than not has a large cheering section at the track. Mike has very quickly become a driver to beat in his newly wrapped undercover soft tail dragster. Luskville Dragway is very fortunate to have Mike Chenier as a member of the racing family, and also fortunate to have Speedy Auto Service as major advertising supporter.
What is called Speedy Auto Service started out with a different name many years ago. Speedy Muffler King opened its' first store in 1956 and was one of the first muffler replacement specialists in North America. Speedy Muffler King understood the importance of building strong customer relationships and was one of the first automotive repair service chains to establish standards of performance to assure its' valued customers consistently high levels of service at each and every one of its' locations across Canada. Over the years Speedy Muffler King expanded its' products and services and in 1993 changed its' operating name to Speedy Auto Service In December 2007, Speedy Corporation acquired Speedy Auto Service. The Speedy Auto Service Gatineau auto repair shop specializes in offering the very best while-you-wait service for all makes and models of cars, light trucks and SUV's. Although muffler replacement is still a primary service, Speedy also specializes in brakes, shock absorbers, struts and front end repairs as well as the sale of tires, road safety inspections and vehicle maintenance services that include oil, lube and filter replacement. Our Gatineau auto repair shop which is located on 372, boul. Maloney west, takes pride in being able to help keep the citizens of Gatineau safely on the road, because at Speedy you're a somebody.
STATE FARM INSURANCE ADDS THIER NAME TO THE LIST OF BONANAZA SUPPORTERS: MAR 14/2015
Insurance companies are not new to Motorsports advertising, all one has too do is look at Nascar as a perfect example, but drag racing has had its share of support also. The one that jumps to mind is of course Geigo which has long been involved with drag racing and still is to this day. So it is with great pleasure that we welcome Mark Sims and State Farm Insurance back as a major advertiser at Luskville Dragway for 2016. Insurance is a major business which some times gets a bad wrap, but State Farm which has been around for years and years is one of those companies that has survived any bad wraps as they don't deserve any, and are one of the strongest Insurance companies in the world. Yes I know i have and insurance company, its the one my father had, but it may not be the best one for you, give Mark and his large team a chance to quote you on your insurance, insurance for all your needs, support those that support Luskville Dragway.
TWO MORE JRS. ADD THIER NAMES TO THE HIGH ROLLER LIST: MAR 14/2016
My how times have change, it was only 4 years ago that we had over 22 Jr. Dragster competitors at Luskville Dragway, today because of the the moving up too big cars we are squeezing to get 16 for the high roller list for this years Bracket Bonanza. However we got two more closer this week with the addition of two Northern cars as Josh and Keely Renaud joined the list to race for the richest Jr. Dragster purse in Canada. The Ogilvie Auto & Fleet Jr. Dragster High Roller is the premier event in this country with the winner walking off with $1000. in first place prize money. Only a few short years ago we where turning down entree's for the 16 only car field, but as you have read on this web site numerous times, we have had "Many' Jr. drivers make the move to the big cars. This list is very long, if we go back to Stephan Ballantyne we can add Jacob Wilson, Dan Pillwein, Rachel Ogilvie, Kayle Urslak, Bradley Shields, Chevy Morrow, and a few more. So its understandable that we don't have as many as we used too, but its good news that we didn't loose many to just quitting. In fact there is no question that more drivers have gone on too drive big cars than those that have just quit. Josh and Keely are just some of the new drivers and in particular just some of the new drivers from the North that have joined the Jr. ranks, we are hoping that we can add a few more North Cars as well as some from Montreal as we reach to fill the 16 car field. Josh and Keely have gotten a few years of racing under thier belt, and being from Wawa they dont get to race every weekend like many of the others, but both drivers have great cars and both drivers are very much capable of winning what many call the "BIG ONE". We are pleased to add these two young drivers who have become a big part of the drag racing scene at Luskville Dragway and the Napa Tour.
BITS FROM THE PITS: MAR 08/2016
*
With all the talk this week about what is and what is not allowed in Super Pro as far as electronics go, we make it loud and clear that we are getting close to drives meeting time April 9th at Busters Bar and Grill, please be there to discuss this and any other items of your concern. This is a drivers meeting that everyone needs to attend and we hope that you do as we head into a pivotal year for Luskville Dragway. Some other dates to remind you of as well, Drivers Meeting April 9th. Autorama 2016 April 23-24, Opening weekend for the track April 23rd. Opening points weekend May 21st. SFI May 22nd.
*We will have some more Jrs. to add to the Ogilvie Auto & Fleet High Roller race next week as last weeks write up seemed to stir up some excitement and interest. It was a little late when they came in next week so we get them added in in next weeks publish, we hope there are more Northern cars adding their Jr. names.
*Some great news for the Bonanza as we have landed another Major Presenter for the 35th Annual Napa Auto Parts Bracket Bonanza, stay tuned next week for all the new as we try and cover our base's.
*Pam Koulaib and Steve Boisvert caught up too us this week to let us know that progress on their Semi Pro Mustang has come along nicely and they hope too be part of the entire season. The team had taken the last two years off because of a couple of  addition's too the family and a full re-do of the Mustang. Time flew by pretty fast and now its time to get back racing with the little ones a little older and the little Mustang nearing completion. The team has added a motorhome to go along with the two young children that have also been added since they last raced, which was a necessity to say the least. So look for the little red Mustang to make a return, but it will look a little different.
*And finally this week could be Jamie Tupper may be adding a new ride to his stable of race cars as he will be off too Montreal this weekend to try and make a deal on  Dan Lanctot beautiful 77 Vega. This car is one of the nicest Vega's you will find any where in the country and with out question they make a hell of a race car. The Vega Body Style to this day is still one of the most popular body Styles out there.
W.0.STINSON & SONS CONTINUE STRONG SUPPORT OF LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY: MAR. 8/16
Some things change and some things stay the same, W.O Stinson and Sons have been making many changes the past few years, including the move into a brand new office building, the construction of a new fuel storage facility, the addition of VP Race Fuels and much, much more. But one thing that has not changed is their continued strong support of Luskville Dragway and all the racers that compete at the small NHRA race track located in Luskville, Quebec. John Armstrong who heads the marketing department for Stinson, as well as much more, including total control of their Motorsports involvement has been stead fast for many years with Luskville Dragway and ADM Motorsports. Obviously race fuels and lubricants are not their mainstay as this company which is the largest fuel supplier both for cars and trucks but also for homes and business's across our area. W.O Stinson's & Sons gas stations can be seen almost everywhere and are one way that you the motorsports person can certainly support those that support us, just by purchasing your gasoline needs at a Stinson Gas stations. W.O. Stinson's also can take care of your personal home or business fuel needs whether it be furnace oil or propane for your house or business. W.O. Stinson will continue to be the official race fuel supplier for Luskville Dragway and will continue to make deliveries each and every week directly too the track to make it easier for racers to get their fuel. Along with VP Racing Fuel race teams will also be able to purchase Kendall Race Oil and Brad Penn performance products as well. W.O. Stinson is the official VP Fuel Distributor for Eastern Ontario and in being so supply you with the best price and the best product. Please support those that support us and purchase your fuel and lubricant needs from Stinson's.
BEAUDION & SWAYNE HOPE TO KICK START A BARRAGE OF DOOR CAR ENTRANTS: MAR 8/2016
I think I can honestly say that we have tried very hard to make door car racing better at Luskville Dragway, there have been times when I have felt like giving up, but thanks to a number of drivers like North Bays Roch Beaudion I have not and never will. I LOVE DOOR CARS, I think it is crucial to the future of drag racing that we keep them going and all I'm asking for is for the door car guys to stick with us, and no year is more important than this one as we move into a new era for Luskville Dragway. Roch and Nancy have been very good supporters of Luskville Dragway and of any door car program we have put forward, and Roch has showed time and time that you can win in a door car, and you can win big. So with that as a back drop we are extremely proud to add Roch's Camaro to the High Roller Show at this years Bracket Bonanza, a race that will be run during the day time in an effort to allow any of the door cars  that want to run in the Big Dog Shootout to have that ability as it will be run later in the afternoon and evening. Brian Swayne who is originally from North Bay, has also thrown his name back into the wars with his wild wheel standing early model Camaro. Brian who now lives between Smith Falls and Carleton Place comes from a long standing drag racing family, and a family that has made their mark at Luskville Dragway. Swayne who sad out last year and part of the year before has completely rebuilt the Camaro from ground up, and as the picture shows, this is a car that will make more than one Wheels Up Wednesday debut. This gets are numbers up nicely with plenty of time before the BIG GO, but my belief is that this will be a big year for the door cars, with more too come.
We have for the past 5 or 6 years put forward the split ladder program where door cars run door cars until down too the quarter finals, we have continued to run Door Pro shows even though the support was not great at all times, we even ran a $5000. to win Door car show a few years back. So all we are hoping for is that we get the support that we believe we deserve for these programs and trust me there are plenty of door cars out there that have yet not put their name on the list: Can you imagine how great this race would be if , Pat Kohl, Chris Carmichael, Will Robertson, Bill Harling, Grant Honeywell, Dale Gauthier, Charlie Kenopic, Dennis Black, Darren Frasso, Al Ray, Shelly Ray, Gianni Cantusci, Jim Barry/Julie Dube, and the list goes on and on were to take part. What I can tell you is we are working on something BIG for this part of the weekend and will make it happen if we get the support we hope we do, if you run a door car and you want door car racing to get bigger, then show your support.

BITS FROM THE PITS: MAR 01/2016
*
Following right along with the BW Race Cars story below comes news this week that Carl & Kyle Jessup have their Undercover Soft Tail Dragster in for some work. Yes they too are going to the suspended front end that almost everyone seems to be switching too. This winning team out of Renfrew, Ontario have been too the winners circle as much as anyone ever at Luskville Dragway and this improvement is not good news for the competition. Driver Kyle Jessup is a former track champion and this could be enough to put him back in that position once again.
*Will take in one more drag race before heading home, something I always look forward too as much as looking forward to leaving for the winter break. There is something pretty easing about coming back across the border and into the Country that I am so proud of. But first a stop at the Gator Nationals in Gainesville Florida on Friday while on the way North. Usually run into a ton of people that we have gotten too know over the years, our once a year chance for example to say too the Paton Family who when running their TAFC where frequent visitors to Luskville Dragway. As well as people like Larry Dobbs who as also a regular visitor to Luskville in the early days of competing in a TAFC. Every time I run into Larry, we reminisce about the big Alcohol Funny Car Show we ran back in the 80's at Luskville Dragway, and were he beat out 13 other funny cars for the title, and the $5000. that went with that title. By the way the Paton Family where also part of this big Funny Car Show as well way back when.
*Stay tuned also for some special things going on surrounding the Randy's Performance, Jr. Dragster Championship Canada Day weekend, which will include a  Racers Golf contest on Friday, Golf Cart Race Friday Night, Fireworks and much more. This is another weekend when we hope to get a lot of out of town racers and will try very hard to make it special for all involved.
*We will for the next month remind everyone about this years drivers meeting and how important it is, and how we hope that everyone will work hard at getting as many people as possible out to it, as well as out to the track. This is a BIG year, with the plans that are in store for the track , and the look ahead too the future and what we have planned, but we need everyone's support if we are going to get there. As everyone knows we have been making major pit side improvements over the past two years, as well as other things like the extension of the concrete pad to 400 feet. And we have made it very clear that this June plans are in place to repave the top end of the race track, which comes at a large expense, but will give us a very smooth quarter mile race track. We also have other improvements for the following years as we work hard at making Luskville Dragway a great place to race. With the costs that we have incurred and the increase in other costs we will be making some SMALL changes to the cost of taking part in the activities at Luskville Dragway. This will be discussed and laid out at the drivers meeting which is open to EVERYONE to attend, and too also have your say.

BW RACE CARS HAS BEEN BURNING THE MIDNIGHT OIL GETTING RACE CARS UPDATED: MAR 01/16
Brian White Race Cars signed on with Luskville Dragway in 2014 and we are pleased and proud that he will continue that support into the 2016 season and for many years to come we hope. This NHRA Best Engineered Award winning chassis builder is only moments away from Ottawa, and works out of a brand new shop to serve all your needs. A race car driver at heart gives Brian the knowledge that only comes from actually driving a fast drag car, and Brian has driven them all from quick door slammers in the early years to rear engine dragsters today. This winter has scene the shop a hub of activity as racer after racer have made their way to the shop to have work done, upgrades done and chassis's set up. With the new wave of wants for the dragster guys being a front suspension set up, Brian has been hard at work doing more than one as Mike Chenier and Mike Ogilvie led the way. The front suspension which has met with a grate deal of acceptance after guys like Denis Souliere (2015 Big Dog Shootout Winner) Russ Adams (many time big dollar winner) switched to that set up with great of success. Ogilvie who already had one car with the front suspension set up was such a believer in it that he is having Brian do both of his dragsters that did not have it.  Brian who is a drag racer at heart brings too the table much what builders like Richard Jones and F.J Smith do, "They are drag racers" which makes all the difference in the world. Brian does not just curtail his work to drag cars as can be seen in the picture if you look close enough, in the background you can see the street rod of a former drag racer in for some work. White has been extremely busy, and says that there are many more jobs set too come in as soon as the weather gives the racers a chance to get the trailers on the roads. White has also made a name for himself for setting up cars , just ask ADM Motorsports who had Brian set up the Camaro, or Joel Lapieirre of Montreal who had his super pro S-10 set up at BW Race Cars. One of the great things about this shop is the owner is not afraid to come to the track and work with the client in getting everything right on the car, something that goes along way in making this shop unique.

MARCH BLOWS IN WITH A RASH OF JR. DRAGSTER HIGH ROLLER ENTREE'S: Mar 01/2016
Once you get too March they say you can see the light at the end of the tunnel as far as winter goes, and that must have been the case for the Jr. Dragster drivers as a rash of entree's came streaming in. The Ogilvie Auto & Fleet Jr. Dragster High Roller is the richest Jr. Dragster held anywhere in Canada and once again this year is part of the Richest Bracket race in Canada, the 35th. Annual Bracket Bonanza. With only Josh Shields registered up too now, we knew that at some point the flood gates would open and we would be bombarded with names of drivers wanting their shot at $1000. to win. Leading the way is former track Champion Ashley Ogilvie who is getting close to her last years in a Jr. Dragster and would like nothing better than to take home the "Big One" that has her Dads company as title rights holder. Ashley has won just about everything you can imagine and in all honesty had a off season in 2015, as she watched her older sister move too the big car and all the excitement that surrounded that. Taking the championship from Ashley in 2015 was Landyn Urslak who is our next entree marking the second champion to enter the event. Landyn was unstoppable in 2015 something he would like to duplicate in 2016. Brody Bellefeuille who is the next name on the list  is also all of a sudden one of the senior drivers in the Jr. Dragster class, and is always in the hunt for the win and could just do that this season in the High Roller Shootout. Brody who is a very good hockey player when not racing would like nothing better, than to add this very prestigious trophy too his case. The next three entree's come out of the D&D Performance Shop in Chesterville, Ontario and all three are the grand children of one of the D's in D&D, Ed DeCooman's three oldest grand kids have all entered the big dollar race. Ben, Nate and Grace three drivers that are all capable of winning this event will be in the lanes when first round is called on July 29th 2016. Now you will notice that we said three oldest, as yes this year the youngest Granddaughter, Olivia, will also start her career in the mining sling shots.

The Midway Season is one that I remember with great fondness as i stood on the starting line with Jet Cars going down the track and the Fares Wheel Going around. The Terminator Jet Dragster which is considered one of the fastest in the world will be joined by team mate Neil Armstrong someone who has been around the sport for more years than even he probably cares to think about. For the race teams there is also the HUGE payouts that take place both Saturday and Sunday, as well as a full day of time trials for the drivers who don't get too race each and every weekend. The addition of the Friday Full Day of Time Trials is a very popular improvement for the event with this year marking the 3rd year that, that has happened. If you have never been to Elliott Lake mark it on your calendar, if you have we know you already have it marked down. Please not the the Jet Cars will run under the lights Friday Night to finish off what is sure to be a wild day and evening of action.
