As the track continues to grow and car counts continue to grow we are very pleased to let everyone know that we will have a tech inspector for the Legend Cars. Danny Davidson a certified Inex inspector will be part of 2009 and Capital City Speedway and will be responsible for the Legend Cars specifically. Danny has been helping us out over the last couple of years on a part time basis but will take the leading role for the Legends inspections for 2009, starting with the test and tune weekend in April.
YOUNG'S SPEED SHOP CONTINUES SUPPORT OF CAPITAL CITY SPEEDWAY: FEB 27/09
There are certain fixtures in this city that relate directly to Motorsports the moment they are mentioned or seen, one of those such icons is Wayne Young and Young's Speed Shop of Gladstone Ave. Around longer than most can remember Young's Speed Shop is with our question the oldest and continues operating Speed Shop in this area if not all of Canada. Wayne has also been a fixture at the back gate of Capital City Speedway for more years than most can remember, meeting and greeting everyone with that smile that so many are used too. Young's Speed Shop support of Motorsports did not start with Capital City Speedway, no Wayne has been supporting Motorsports in one fashion or another for as long as he has been in business. The Young's Speed Shop logo as been seen on more race cars than probably any other name in this area, and still is to this day. The respect that Wayne has garnered over the years surpasses anything I have ever seen in my 40 years of racing experience. To say this man is respected and liked by all in the Motorsports industry would be putting it very, very mildly. So as we head into our fourth year of running Capital City Speedway we are extremely Proud to have Young's Speed Shop back as a supporter and Wayne Young back also. Young's Speed is located at 496 Gladstone Ave. in Ottawa and offers the customer a full line of Performance equipment and accessories, everything the chrome kits to the hard core racing products. And yes while your in there you can certainly catch up on what is going on in the Motorsports industry in our area as Young's Speed Shop is usually a hot bed of racing information of one sort or another.
MONSTER TRUCKS WILL RETURN TO CAPITAL CITY SPEEDWAY IN 2009: FEB 27/09
There is no question that there where many including myself, who after last years disastrous Monster Jam and Monster Truck show, felt that NEVER again where we bringing Monster Trucks to Capital City Speedway. But after dissecting the situation, it was agreed by all that Monster Jam would not be a Monster Jam with out Monster Trucks. Yes last years show left a lot of people wondering just what was the trucks thinking when they did what they did, covering the track with a ton of track dirt which created a huge clean up. The inclement weather certainly made for one of the worst weekends that we have ever spend at the track, but then again it was like hat all year long, with one rain out after another and one disastrous race after another because of the weather. However, after much thought, we only had to go back to year one, and year two where the largest crowds of the seasons, and the best show's of the years took place on MONSTER JAM weekend, and it was evident that we had to forget about last year and do what has worked in the past and try to do it better. So with that as a lead we are very pleased to announce that YES Monster Jam 4, will return on Sept 12th. and it will have all of the good things that has made it an EVENT. And two of the best Monster Trucks in the world, and two trucks who want nothing more than to redeem themselves for last year, and continue to build the fan base they have with the folks at Capital City Speedway. Brutus and Avenger, two trucks that everyone has seen on TV more than once will make there way back to Capital City Speedway on Sept 12th and will be part of Monster Jam 4. We can also tell you that the famous "Trailer Race " will be part of the this weekend but a few things will be different this year, we will only be taking PRE RACE entree's, which means that no one will be able to show up at the gate and enter, YOU MUST BE PRE ENTERED. This also means that entree's will also be pre checked, prior to the day of the race whether it be the Friday night before or a week before each and every entree will be scrutinized . Over the years entree's have gotten carried away with what is or is not in the trailers and we can not take those risks any more. Now add to this the fact that it will also feature a 100 lap "Big Dollar Late Model Event" with some of the best money every paid to Late Model drivers. Just ask Steve Munro and Spencer McPherson the only two drivers to ever win the big dollar race, (last years late model portion was rained out). Plus bigger payouts to all of the other class's Legends, Thunder Cars, and Mini Stock and you can quickly see why this event has become the corner stone to Capital City Speedways history.

Where a little late with the picture of Kevin Foisy and his new car at Orlando, but thought we where better late than never. Kevin ran very well and will defiantly have a step up on the competition when the season starts, having the new ride all sorted out. Foisy will be a strong contender to repeat as The champion in the Lentech Legend Series but others will have a say. "Rick Young Photo"
*Speaking of Legend Racing this year at the speedway, we can confirm to all drivers that we will have a National Qualifier for INEX again this season, we will announce dates shortly. We are also hoping to bring an advertiser on board for this event to make the race a BIG dollar payout as we have done in the past.
*Kenyon have announced there first Dates for the arrive and drive school, May 10-11th are the first of the summer, so if your name is not on the list now, you may want to get it there.
BUDWEISER 'THE KING OF BEERS' RETURNS FOR 4TH YEAR OF SUPPORT:
We are still graciously pleased with the response to our advertising sales as we head into the 2009 racing season, especially when all you are hearing is cut backs, cut backs. And this week keeps that good mood continuing with the announcement that Budweiser the king of beers will once again be the official beer of Capital City Speedway and its racing program in 2009. Yes once again we have to comment on how fortunate we are to have such great and loyal advertising partners, it has made what we have been able to do possible and with out them we would not be where we are in the progress of the track. Budweiser is as we all know, a major name in the Motorsports industry, but here too they have cut back slightly like many others, but not at Capital City Speedway where the will continue their program on the same level as last year. For years Budweiser has been a name largely associated with Nascar, and NHRA Drag Racing as well as many other different forms of Motorsports. When we took over CCS in 2005 Budweiser signed on and was very pleased with the way things where heading with the track. And even though, as we all know things where not that great in 2008 as everything was down, including beer sales. So to say we where anxious for the answer when we starting putting things together with Budweiser would be an understatement, but they too understood how the weather man played a major part in last years outcome. They like us believe the track with a little help from the weather gods will have a great year and put the track on a positive track in 2009. So to some it up, we are very excited and pleased that Budweiser will be the only beer being served out of the CCS beer gardens once again in 2009.
TIME MCI (GLENTEL) RETURN FOR ANOTHER SEASON OF EXCITEMENT: FEB 20/09
The list continues to grow of the advertisers who will return for the 2009 racing season and Time MCI is another who joined that list this past week. One of the largest companies in the mobile communications business's Time MCI (formerly Glentel) has been a advertising partner with Capital City Speedway since 2005 and will continue that relationship into 2009.
Time MCI pioneered the development of two-way radio in the Eastern Ontario and Western Québec region since 1970 and they are proud to be part of the Glentel Business Division. Combining the passion, creativity, and technology of two leading wireless solutions providers has enabled them to grow and offer a broader range of products and services to their current and future customers in Eastern Ontario and Western Québec. In keeping with the past, they will continue to improve and expand their service capabilities at the local level.
Please feel free to browse the site and don't hesitate to contact us today to discuss all of your wireless communication needs.
Time will have there own night once again on August 26th where they will be inviting many of their customers, some who have never been part of Capital City Speedway, this night in the past has always been a big night for everyone.

Congratulations to Patrick Laparele from Montreal and ACT Tour Champion for his win at New Smyrna Speedway's crate motor race in Florida this week. Yes there is much more going on besides Daytona and many Canadians are down here racing in Speed Week events. Eric Chase another ACT driver who has raced at CCS finished this race in 8th place as well.
*Kevin Foisy is also down here racing at the Winter Nationals for Legends at Orlando Speedworld, the only report i have is from Tuesday where Kevin came in 20th in a full field of Legend cars from all over North America (total of 98 cars at last count).
*Hey now here is a real good opportunity for some one who wants to get up close to the racing action this season. Thunder Car Driver Dave Stinson is looking for a crew member for the 2009 season. You can get in touch with Dave directly at davestinson69@hotmail.com
INTERSTATE BATTERIES RETURNS BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER: FEB 6/09
Meeting James and Chrisy Locke of Interstate Batteries three years ago was a good thing for Capital City Speedway. They had just moved to Ottawa from Toronto and had taken over the Interstate Batteries office and warehouse here in Ottawa. When I approached them at that time about getting involved it was a little over whelming as they had just moved into this market and did not know what to expect. But James did not close the door, saying give me time to get my feet planted and come back and see us. And so I did one year later and the rest is history as they got involved, increased that involvement the second year and have done so again this season. Some times doing a cold sale can be the hardest thing in the world, but I have to tell you, that even though it was a first time meeting the first time I walked into their office, they made me feel like I had known them for ever. That down to earth friendly type personality they have has made doing business with them a pure enjoyment. And I'm sure that has a lot to do with the incredible growth of Interstate Batteries since they took over the Ottawa business. Interstate which is a major North American Cooperation well known for there involvement with Nascar began advertising with CCS in 2007 and by all accounts where very pleased, pleased enough that they decided they would like to increase their involvement in 2008 and once again in 2009. In doing so Interstate which now works out of state of the art facility at 171 McFarlane Rd. Unit C, in Ottawa's west end, will take the title rights to one of our regular Wednesday Night events July 22nd. Interstate Batteries is well associated with Nascar and we are extremely pleased that they have made the choice to increase their involvement, as it indicates we are heading in the right direction with the track. Fans will see the Interstate Batteries new show truck at a number of events through out the season and for sure on July 22nd Interstate Batteries Night.
KENYON RACING PRODUCTS ANNOUNCE THEIR "ARRIVE AND DRIVE" PROGRAM FOR: FEB 13/09
We have often talked about the advertisers and their incredible support, the racers support, the spectator support, and how it has been all of us together that have made the track work for the last four years. We have also pointed out how their seems to be a renewed excitement this spring after a disastrous 2008, and how more people seem to be doing more this year than ever. And here is another exciting item which we all believe will be a great asset to the future of our sport and the growth locally for Capital City Speedway. Kenyon Racing Products who we announced earlier have taken over the racing school for the Legend Cars will also offer a full tilt racing school and rental program for Late Model Drivers also. The "Arrive and Drive" program is just that, you can now rent a Late Model, a full team to look after it on race night and all you have to do is just arrive at the track drive the car and that's it. Yes you can sign up and take the Late Model School prior to actually renting the car and team for a race night, but if your a veteran driver who someone coming up from another class you do have the option to just rent the car for race night. The Kenyon's have received a large amount of calls on this even prior to it be announced publicly, which leads us too believe that this will be another great program for Capital City Speedway and the growth of Stock Car racing and Late Models in particular. Say your a team that has trouble and cant get your car back together well now you can have a back up program. There is no question that the car will not be a problem to rent for the big races as even out of town teams would have the option to sign it up and get a car that is already set up for CCS. So yes we believe that this will be a great program and should help us with the growth of the Late Model numbers locally also. For more on this program or to get your name on the list for the school or the rental program call Kenyon's directly,

FLORIDA REPORT: FEB 13/09
For anyone who has ever been to Florida at this time of year, they know all too well that CARS is the big thing down here at this time of year, as Daytona is just around the corner and Drag Racing is starting in earnest as well as Car Shows every where. So if your a "Car Guy" like we are then Florida is the place to be this time of year. The first visit is to Old Town south of Orlando in a small suburb called Kissimmee, Florida, now to understand this better picture the market down town Ottawa on a Friday or Saturday Night close to 500 UNREAL street rods and race cars on display for everyone to look at, live bands playing, outdoor bars and patio's a real circus like atmosphere to say the least, but 500 cars to look at while you stroll around. Cars for racing, cars for showing, cars for sale and JUST CARS, with out question if you where looking to buy one sweet piece of street rod this would be the place to come to. I have posted a couple of pic's just to give you an idea of what we are talking about. Next Stop Daytona>
Well Daytona was great, and at first looks you really didn't see any change because of the economy, but after a closer look yes there is no question that all the doom and gloom had affected the Biggest Race of the year. Many empty seats could be seen through out the facility and where not talking the back stretch, where talking front stretch. However there was good signs, with a number of NEW advertisers and a lot of optimism amongst many I talked too. Ford, GM and Toyota where out in force even with the disastrous car marked we continue to here about, they even had the 2010 pace car which will be a new Camaro. Tony Stewart has definitely garnered some new fans with his move to independence as could be seen by his trailer this year being the most attended by the buying public. But no matter how much the economy was on everyone's minds, once the green flagged dropped it was all forgot as two very, very good Gatorade duels where on and you could once again feel the excitement. Other good news was the fact that Sunday's 500 was a complete sell out, even though some seat prices had been discounted too do so. Well next racing stop is Bradenton and the Lucas Oil NHRA Points Meet.

Some exciting news out of the Kenyon Racing Products Shop as they too feel the excitement of the 2009 season. In years past the shop would be open late, only on Thursday night  but staring in 2009 the shop will be open late on every night prior to race night. Meaning that when the track is running on Friday Night, Kenyon Racing Products will be open late Thursday night, when CCS is open Wednesday nights Kenyon's will be open late on Tuesday night. This is being done so that anyone who requires their assistance in getting ready for race night will be able to do so late into the night. Plans are also in place to serve B-B-Q hot dogs as well so customers don't have to worry about getting super and cutting into their work time. Kenyon's feel the enthusiasm like we do and believe that 2009 will be a break out year for the track.
*Kenyon's don't base their evaluation lightly either as they inform us they have been working 12 hours a day and weekends to get the work out the door, as this has been their busiest off season ever. Yes all indicators are for an incredible summer of racing if what is going out of these shop doors is any indication. This past week saw he boys finish up the redo on Kevin Harvick's 08 Oxford 250 winning Port City Late Model which is now owned by Karl Allard .
*And yes after last years disastrous season everyone seems fired up and ready to make this year the one of all times, so lets start right now with everyone doing what ever they can to pack the park on opening night May 8th. We live in a world of connection, whether it be by cell phone or the internet, the black berry or face book. So lets work them all to see if we cant make opening night 2009 bigger than anything in the past. We have had
racers at the Dragway do face book cruise nights and pack the drag strip so there is no reason why we cant try it with CCS. We are going to spend more radio advertising money this year than ever and that will start with opening night.
*
RYAN BURGHGRAEF sent us a note to let us know that work is progressing nicely on his new mini stock car for 2009. And even more good news is that the last years ride (the four for fun car) has been sold to a brand new racer who will be joining the four for fun ranks this season as a new driver. Again this shows the continued growth that we certainly hoped would happened and it has and once again we fully believe the end is no where in site.
APPLE AUTO GLASS GLADSTONE AVE BACK FOR ANOTHER SEASON: FEB 06/09
I know, I know you have heard me say this over and over, but you know what it is oh so correct it is very easy to talk about it all the time. Capital City Speedway is very fortunate to have the advertisers it does, and is the envy of many other race tracks. And one of the other things which probably goes hand in hand with this tremendous support is that all of these successful business owners are great guys. No I don't mean because they spend money as advertisers, there just great people and want very much for Motorsports to thrive and grow in this area and put their money behind that each and every year. One perfect example of that is the owner of Apple Auto Glass on Gladstone Ave. Dan Courtier who is a very successful business owner just happens to be a very avid Motorsports guy. Dan often says it was in his blood as his Dad was also a big car guy, in fact Dan still has the 69 Firebird that his Dad once drove. Apple signed on two years ago and its been a pleasure having Dan around the Track.  Apple Auto Glass Gladstone is a hub of activity anytime you drop in, and one of the things Dan prides himself on is his dedication to taking care of the customer and that shows by the large numbers that are always there. Of course the fact that Dan is a car guy, means that its not just a job to him and his employees fixing stuff is a extension of his love for cars and again that shows in the quality of workmanship that comes out of Apple Auto Glass, Gladstone. One of the slogans for Apple Auto Glass is let our boys take care of your toys and there is no better way to put it, as this shop pays extra, extra attention to your toy.
Apple Auto Glass Gladstone will hold title rights to the Friday Night May 22 night at the race track which will feature all class's including Late Models. Again we want to remind everyone who supports Motorsports locally to support those business's that also support Motorsports locally.
Y101 A DIVISION OF ROGERS RADIO CONTINUES AS CCS OFFICIAL RADIO STATION: FEB 6/09
2009 will mark our fourth year of operating the speedway and it will also mark the fourth year that Y101 will be the official radio station of the speedway. This is not something we take lightly as we knew from the beginning that informing people that the track was once again active and running was very crucial and we have not changed that way of thinking as to this day we still run into people that are not aware CCS is open and running a great program. Y101 will once again play an important role in continuing the stream of information to the public to work hard at putting more and more people to the track. And as we head into 2009 we have actually increased that effort to inform the public and Y101 will play an important role in helping us do that. What will we be doing well we will start with a full 14 weeks of commercials promoting Capital City Speedway and the programs that are on. But over and above that we will have a two week Y101 promo to kick off the season and opening night, we will have another two week promo campaign to promote Y101 night June 19th. And we don't stop their as the "Summer Showdown Cascar Event" will also have a special promotion program which will see 10 lucky winners attend the race and be fully catered too. Things don't stop there either as special promotion will take place to promote Bill Osborne Chevrolet Monster Jam 4 which will include owning Y101 for a day. meaning you wont be able to turn the radio station on with hearing something about CCS. So as you can see we have really put the summer that never was (2008) behind us and have geared up to make the summer of sunshine in front of us and hopefully in front of the largest crowds the speedway has ever seen.
LOCAL ACT DRIVERS HOPING FOR ONE OF THE SUPER SPEEDWAY SPOTS: FEB 6/09
The stars of the ACT and the Canadian Series ACT-Castrol will get their first super speedway experience after the NASCAR Whelan Modified Tour New Hampshire 100 and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series New Hampshire 200 races. The ACT Invitational will have a purse of more than $65,000 for invited and approved teams that attend this historic, groundbreaking Late Model stock car racing event.
"This is an incredible day of racing for our fans," said New Hampshire Motor Speedway executive vice-president and general manager Jerry Gappens. "The Invitational is a great addition to our already strong Saturday schedule. I really appreciate NASCAR's Mike Helton and his team for working with us to add this event to an already jam-packed schedule. For my money, this Saturday lineup will feature the most exciting, competitive and diverse day of racing in all of Motorsports. "The ACT Invitational race will be a 50-lap all-star event with 36 starters.
U.S.-based ACT Late Model Tour and the Québec/Ontario-based Series ACT-Castrol will be awarded a guaranteed starting spot and a $500 bonus for each win contingent upon participation at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway event. Three non-championship events will also be Invitational qualifying races with a $500 New Hampshire Motor Speedway bonus: the CAR QUEST Vermont Governor's Cup 100 at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt.; the TD Banknorth 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, Maine; and the Coors Light 200 "Showdown at Chaudière" all-star race at Autodrome Chaudière in Vallée-Jonction, Quebec on Saturday, August 29.
Other invitees will be 2009 champions and/or point leaders as of September 17, 2009 on the ACT Late Model Tour and Series ACT-Castrol, as well as at the following ACT-affiliated short tracks: Thunder Road International Speedbowl, Oxford Plains Speedway, Lee USA (Lee, N.H.) Speedway, Twin State Speedway (Claremont, N.H.), White Mountain Motorsports Park (North Woodstock, N.H.), Seekonk Speedway (Seekonk, Mass.), Waterford Speedbowl (Waterford, Conn.), Capital City Speedway (Ottawa, Ont.), and Kawartha Speedway (Peterborough, Ont.). Provisional starting spots will be awarded to fill the field to 36 cars, if needed. We are working very closely with Tom Curley for the possibility of an Capital City Speedway provisional spot, wouldn't this be great if we could not only send the points champ, the ACT Tour Race Winner and ONE MORE. Tom Curley has worked very closely with us in an effort to grow ACT Late Model cars at a track that had no late modes at all for over 10 years.
WHERE GOING TO HAVE A PARTY AT CCS ON JULY 1ST. BENSON AUTO PARTS DAY: FEB 06/09
Trashed Taxi's confirmed as the Band for July 1st. this is with out question one of the best bands in the Ottawa area and have made themselves quite a following with the Motorsports community, now we just need to see if Todd Musker will get up and sing with them again.
July 1st. 2009 just happens to be a Wednesday this year and are plans are not only to have a big race at CCS but to also have a party in the afternoon as well. Yes starting at 2:00 PM a live band will be on hand to entertain everyone and will do so right up until 6:00 pm when practice starts for the nights racing program. Are plans are also to bring some things for the kids as well as we work very hard to Make this years Canada at the Speedway as big and as much fun as possible. Benson Auto Parts which in the past has always been one of our biggest nights will also play a big part in making this a truly unique afternoon and evening at Capital City Speedway. Other big news for the drivers will be the fact that they will have the chance to race for some extra money on this night as Benson will use a little bit of one of its drag racing programs to the speedway on their night in order to give the drivers in Thunder Cars, Mini Stock and Legends the chance to Double up on any prize money they win. The 99RACE program that is used in the drag racing programs in this area allows drivers to double up their winning's just by making a purchase at any Benson Auto Parts Store or any of their other stores such as Benson Tires, under the 99RACE invoice program. So for July 1st. 2009 all drivers had to do is have a 2009 99RACE invoice for the sum of $100 or more and they automatically qualify for DOUBLE what ever place money they win. This program has put a lot of extra money into the pockets of drag racers over the years, and we are very pleased that we can offer a small portion of this to the stock car drivers for the first time. So purchase $100. or more of product, or service under a 99RACE invoice, bring the invoice with you to the speedway on July 1st. and present it at the payout window when you are getting your pay and you will qualify for double your prize money, pretty simple and pretty straight forward.
