*One of the most successful weekends for Luskville Dragway in 2026 was the 1st Annual Mayhem in the Mountains event, which saw one of the largest turnouts of street cars since the covid years. The event was an overwhelming success, and was made by the support of many advertisers and competitors. And it continues to make its mark in the off season as Colby Byrnes-Shaw someone who was a sponsor and a competitor for this past season event is making some waves in the early off season. Colby made it very clear that he was bringing the street car ET record back to Ottawa in 2027 with his new Corvette Build which will début next spring. Colby is no stranger to going fast and has made it very clear he is going after Martin Buldoc's track record 9.17 in 2027 and will be part of Mayhem in the Mountains to do so with his new Vette.

*L'un des week-ends les plus réussis de Luskville Dragway en 2026 a été la première édition de Mayhem in the Mountains, qui a attiré l'une des plus fortes affluences de voitures de série depuis la pandémie. L'événement a connu un succès retentissant, grâce au soutien de nombreux annonceurs et concurrents. Il continue de marquer l'histoire pendant l'intersaison, notamment grâce à Colby Byrnes-Shaw, sponsor et concurrent de l'édition précédente, qui fait sensation en ce début de saison morte. Colby a clairement indiqué qu'il ramènerait le record du temps au quart de mile pour une voiture de série à Ottawa en 2027 avec sa nouvelle Corvette, qui sera présentée au printemps prochain. Colby n'est pas étranger à la vitesse et a clairement indiqué qu'il viserait le record de Martin Buldoc (9,17 secondes) en 2027 et participerait à l'événement Mayhem in the Mountains pour y parvenir avec sa nouvelle Corvette.

STEPHEN BALLANTYNE WINS ANOTHER TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP:October 19, 2026

For Aylmer, Quebec’s Stephen Ballantyne, the 2026 season was another successful chapter in a long history of winning races and championships. And he did it in impressive fashion!

Stephen and his family have called Luskville Dragway home since the 1990s, making racing a family affair every weekend. His father, Rob, the backbone of the team, can often be seen delivering the race car to the track on Friday afternoons and making sure everything is ready for the weekend. Mom, Stephen’s sister, and Stephen himself all play their part in keeping the team running smoothly.

The old saying, “The family that races together stays together,” certainly rings true for the Ballantynes. Until this spring, they also worked together, making racing and family an even bigger part of their lives.

The 2026 season marked a new chapter for Stephen, as he left the carpentry company owned by his father, Rob, to take a position with a larger company in Ottawa. However, the new job did little to disrupt the winning ways this team has become known for.

Stephen got his season off to a flying start during the Speedy Auto Service Weekend, scoring a big win on Saturday. The Young Guns Racing Team kept the momentum rolling the following race weekend, doubling up with another victory during the NAPA Auto Parts Weekend. Things became more challenging over the next couple of months, and the team eventually surrendered the points lead to DGR Racing. But the Ballantynes were far from finished.

The Honeywell Works Weekend saw the team return to the winner’s circle in a big way. Stephen captured Saturday’s victory and then accomplished something that only one other Semi-Pro racer had ever done: win the King of the Track title by defeating a Super Pro driver!

After winning the Semi-Pro final, Stephen lined up against Mike Chenier in the Honeywell Works King of the Track runoff. Beating a driver of Mike’s caliber is no easy feat, but Stephen got the job done, claiming the coveted NHRA Wally and adding another major accomplishment to his racing résumé.

That victory, combined with a strong run of rounds throughout the remainder of the season, helped the Ballantyne team regain the points lead and hold on to secure Stephen’s fourth Luskville Dragway Track Championship!

And that wasn’t all. Stephen also put together enough consistent performances in regular-day racing to capture the IG Wealth Management Semi-Pro Challenge title, along with the MRA Track Championship. With three championship titles to his credit in 2026, Stephen will have plenty to celebrate when the annual banquet rolls around!

So, what does 2027 have in store? Stephen says much of the same. His new job keeps him busy, making him even more appreciative of Dad, Rob, who continues to keep things rolling behind the scenes.

One thing is certain: the Young Guns Racing Team will be back, and Stephen Ballantyne will once again be a force to be reckoned with at Luskville Dragway!
STEPHEN BALLANTYNE REMPORTE UN NOUVEAU CHAMPIONNAT: 19 octobre 2026
Pour Stephen Ballantyne, d'Aylmer, au Québec, la saison 2026 a marqué un nouveau chapitre couronné de succès dans une longue histoire de victoires en courses et en championnats. Et il l'a fait avec brio !
Stephen et sa famille sont fidèles au Luskville Dragway depuis les années 1990, faisant de la course une véritable affaire de famille chaque week-end. Son père, Rob, pilier de l'équipe, est souvent présent le vendredi après-midi pour livrer la voiture de course sur la piste et s'assurer que tout est prêt pour le week-end. Sa mère, sa sœur et Stephen lui-même contribuent tous au bon fonctionnement de l'équipe.
Le vieil adage « La famille qui court ensemble reste unie » se vérifie assurément chez les Ballantyne. Jusqu'au printemps dernier, ils travaillaient également ensemble, faisant de la course et de la famille une part encore plus importante de leur vie. La saison 2026 a marqué un tournant pour Stephen, qui a quitté l'entreprise de menuiserie de son père, Rob, pour rejoindre une plus grande société à Ottawa. Cependant, ce nouveau poste n'a pas perturbé la série de victoires qui caractérise l'équipe.
Stephen a démarré la saison en trombe lors du week-end Speedy Auto Service, remportant une belle victoire le samedi. L'équipe Young Guns Racing a poursuivi sur sa lancée le week-end suivant, signant un nouveau doublé avec une victoire lors du week-end NAPA Auto Parts. Les choses se sont compliquées au cours des deux mois suivants, et l'équipe a finalement cédé la tête du classement à DGR Racing. Mais les Ballantyne étaient loin d'avoir dit leur dernier mot. Le week-end Honeywell Works a vu l'équipe renouer avec la victoire de façon éclatante. Stephen a remporté la victoire du samedi, puis a accompli un exploit qu'un seul autre pilote semi-professionnel avait réalisé : remporter le titre de « Roi de la piste » en battant un pilote super pro ! Après avoir remporté la finale Semi-Pro, Stephen s'est retrouvé face à Mike Chenier lors de la finale Honeywell Works King of the Track. Battre un pilote du calibre de Mike n'est pas une mince affaire, mais Stephen a relevé le défi, remportant le prestigieux trophée NHRA Wally et ajoutant une nouvelle ligne à son palmarès.
Cette victoire, combinée à une série de performances solides tout au long de la saison, a permis à l'équipe Ballantyne de reprendre la tête du classement et de s'assurer le quatrième titre de champion de la piste de Luskville Dragway pour Stephen ! Et ce n'était pas tout. Stephen a également réalisé des performances régulières en compétition pour remporter le titre IG Wealth Management Semi-Pro Challenge, ainsi que le championnat de la piste MRA. Avec trois titres de champion à son actif en 2026, Stephen aura de quoi se réjouir lors du banquet annuel !
Alors, que réserve 2027 ? Stephen répond que ce sera sensiblement la même chose. Son nouveau travail l'occupe beaucoup, ce qui lui fait apprécier encore davantage son père, Rob, qui continue de veiller au grain en coulisses.Une chose est sûre : l'équipe Young Guns Racing sera de retour, et Stephen Ballantyne sera une fois de plus un adversaire redoutable sur le circuit de Luskville !

*Well the news is a week old so most will already know about it, but we believe its worth mentioning again as it was a Luskville Dragway Regular who ventured down to the big $10,000. Semi Pro Race at Napierville. Yes Darren Frasso who blew up the motor in his very famous 1969 Camaro long weekend in Sept down in Norwalk, pulled his second car out of storage and took home the big check. What is even more incredible about this is that Max Gauthier tagged along with Darren and took the runner up spot as well. This was done by a couple of guys who normally run super pro, and who are regulars at Luskville Dragway and have been for years. Congrats to the boys from Kingston.

*With the season coming to an end, we start to look at things that are on tap as we head into winter, and as we turn the corner and head into spring as well. Listed below are two upcoming events in our area, but another one that all of our champions should be paying attention to is the Fast Eddie Racewear Night of Champions held in March as part of the annual Motorama car show in Toronto.

*There are some very important dates coming up for the folks at Luskville Dragway, first up is the annual awards banquet which is shaping up to be a barn burner this year, with the addition of Nostalgia Points Champion as well as a sled/bike Champion. Please click on the links below to get the info you need. The second date is the Outlaw Heads up class rules meeting to be held Nov 28th at the Stable Restaurant in Metcalfe.

L'information date d'une semaine, la plupart des gens sont donc déjà au courant, mais nous pensons qu'il est bon de la rappeler : un habitué du Luskville Dragway a participé à la grande course semi-pro de Napierville, dotée de 10 000 $. Eh oui, Darren Frasso, dont le moteur de sa fameuse Camaro 1969 a rendu l'âme lors du long week-end de septembre à Norwalk, a ressorti sa deuxième voiture du garage et a empoché le gros lot. Plus incroyable encore, Max Gauthier l'a accompagné et a terminé deuxième. Un exploit réalisé par deux pilotes qui courent habituellement en super pro et qui fréquentent le Luskville Dragway depuis des années. Bravo à l'équipe de Kingston !

La saison touchant à sa fin, nous commençons à nous pencher sur les événements à venir, à l'approche de l'hiver et du printemps. Voici deux événements à venir dans notre région, mais un autre que tous nos champions devraient surveiller est la Soirée des Champions Fast Eddie Racewear, qui se tiendra en mars dans le cadre du salon automobile annuel Motorama à Toronto.

JULIA MALCOLM MAKES IT 4 CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW: OCT 12/26
 For anyone that has been around drag racing or for that matter any form of sports, winning is not as easy as it seems, winning a season long championship is even more difficult. Winning back to back championships is something that many can only dream about, but to win 4 in a row is something that not many, in fact I cant think of anyone that has ever done it! until this past year. Yes Julia Malcolm won the track championship in Jr. Dragster, and this year will mark her 4th consecutive year of doing just that, something no one at Luskville has ever done, and i think would be hard pressed to find anyone that has done it in Canada. Julia is the daughter of Derek and Taz Malcolm which makes her a 3rd generation of drag racers in the Malcolm Family, and to say we are proud of her would be putting it VERY, VERY MILDLY.
Julia started her defense of the Track Title in a good way taking a win on the Opening weekend for 2026, but would then have to wait a few races before revisiting the winners circle. But even tough Julia did not get back to the winners circle until the Honeywell Works Wally Weekend, she continued to go rounds and continued to climb in the points until she finally over took Maverick Anger who had lead most of the summer. Julia would go on to secure her 4th. TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP with the final race in mid Sept. This is a feat that not even her dad Derek accomplished in all his days of racing and winning titles, Congrats Julia. Now that drag racing is over, its full steam ahead for the basketball season which is Julia's second love for sports.

Pour quiconque s'intéresse aux courses d'accélération, ou à n'importe quel sport d'ailleurs, gagner n'est pas aussi simple qu'il n'y paraît, et remporter un championnat est encore plus difficile. Remporter deux championnats consécutifs est un rêve pour beaucoup, mais en gagner quatre d'affilée est un exploit rarissime ; en fait, je ne connais personne qui l'ait réalisé ! Du moins, jusqu'à l'année dernière. Julia Malcolm a remporté le championnat de la catégorie Jr. Dragster, et cette année marque sa quatrième victoire consécutive, un exploit inédit à Luskville, et je pense qu'il serait difficile de trouver quelqu'un qui l'ait fait au Canada. Julia est la fille de Derek et Taz Malcolm, ce qui fait d'elle la troisième génération de pilotes de courses d'accélération de la famille Malcolm, et dire que nous sommes fiers d'elle serait un euphémisme.
Julia a bien entamé la défense de son titre en remportant la victoire lors du week-end d'ouverture de la saison 2026, mais a ensuite dû patienter quelques courses avant de renouer avec la victoire. Même si Julia n'a retrouvé le chemin de la victoire qu'au Honeywell Works Wally Weekend, elle a continué à enchaîner les manches et à progresser au classement jusqu'à finalement dépasser Maverick Anger, qui avait dominé la majeure partie de l'été. Julia a ensuite décroché son 4e titre de championne de piste lors de la dernière course à la mi-septembre. Un exploit que même son père, Derek, n'a pas réalisé malgré sa longue carrière et ses nombreux titres. Bravo Julia ! Maintenant que les courses de dragsters sont terminées, place à la saison de basketball, sa deuxième passion sportive.

*Big shout out too Frank Anger and his son Maverick who locked up the Super Tour Super Pro Title and the Jr. Dragster Title for 2026 last weekend at Napierville Dragway. Frank who had a pretty good season to say the least visited the winners circle on numerous occasions and was always in the thick of things at every event. Maverick like his Dad had a dominating year on the tour and for a while at Luskville Dragway championship as well. Maverick not only picked up many a big win but also numerous Acker Bros. Racing Quick Draw Awards.


*Derek Malcolm made a return to the drivers seat at the last Super Tour Race in a new ADM Motorsports dragster, and by all accounts things went well, and it felt good to be back in the seat. Since he has taken the reins of being race director at the track, and with the sale of his many time winning dragster to Glen Mclean of Nova Scotia, Derek has concentrated on making the track work on and off. I think by all the positive comments about the traction and how things are running that has been going very well, so it was only natural that he would want to get behind the wheel again. This does not mean he will be racing every weekend, as running the track will be first priority, but with his daughter and nephew both closing in on the end of their Jr. Dragster career, and both talking about moving to a big car one day, this seemed like a positive move. The car will based out of Ogilvie Performance in Jasper, Ontario where it went immediately after the Super Tour event, Thanks Guys. Look for some changes to happen to the car, and look for a very limited race schedule for Derek in 2027, but ADM Motorsports is back in the race car game once again, and just maybe look for some more news on that front to come.

*Un grand bravo à Frank Anger et à son fils Maverick, qui ont décroché le titre Super Pro du Super Tour et le titre Jr. Dragster pour 2026 le week-end dernier à Napierville Dragway. Frank, auteur d'une excellente saison, a enchaîné les victoires et s'est toujours montré très actif. Maverick, à l'instar de son père, a dominé le championnat cette année, remportant même un temps le titre à Luskville Dragway. Il a non seulement remporté de nombreuses victoires importantes, mais aussi plusieurs prix Acker Bros. Racing Quick Draw.

*Derek Malcolm a fait son retour au volant lors de la dernière course du Super Tour, à bord d'un nouveau dragster ADM Motorsports. De l'avis général, tout s'est bien passé et il était ravi de retrouver le volant. Depuis qu'il a pris les rênes de la direction de course et suite à la vente de son dragster, maintes fois victorieux, à Glen McLean de Nouvelle-Écosse, Derek s'est concentré sur l'entretien et la gestion de la piste. Vu tous les commentaires positifs concernant l'adhérence et le bon fonctionnement de la voiture, il est clair que tout se passe très bien. Il était donc tout naturel qu'il ait envie de reprendre le volant. Cela ne signifie pas qu'il participera à des courses tous les week-ends, car la priorité reste l'entretien de la piste. Cependant, sa fille et son neveu approchant de la fin de leur carrière en Jr. Dragster et évoquant tous deux la possibilité de passer un jour à une voiture de compétition, cette décision semblait judicieuse. La voiture sera basée chez Ogilvie Performance à Jasper, en Ontario, où elle s'est rendue immédiatement après l'épreuve du Super Tour. Merci à tous ! Attendez-vous à quelques modifications sur la voiture et à un calendrier de courses très limité pour Derek en 2027. Mais ADM Motorsports est de retour dans le monde de la course automobile, et nous aurons peut-être bientôt d'autres nouvelles à ce sujet.
ERIC LAVIGNE THE 1ST EVER NOSTALGIA TRACK CHAMPION: OCT 5/26
 Last week we talked about the success of the Outlaw Heads Up Class this past season, and how we believe it has nothing but growth ahead of it. Well the same can be said about the Nostalgia Class as it comes of its second season of existence and its first year of having points championship. Eric Lavigne will go down as the first ever Points Champion for this class, and a good one he was. Eric who  is no stranger to Luskville Dragway having raced there for many years in the eighties and the nineties. Back  in those days Eric was a regular at the track like many others, but times changed and he took some time off to look after his family members. But like all drag racers it never left his system, and when the time was right he returned with the same 1970 Dodge Challenger that he was so successful with originally. The field this year saw some new faces and some new cars, join many of the guys who made it happen in year one. Drives like Danny Guertin who was another former racer at the track like Eric, Bruce Evans, Clarence May, Kevin Pelletier, Attila Karosi, Marcel Dubois and many others. We would also like to thank R. Sugrue Cartage for the title rights sponsorship of the class as well as Precision Concrete, Boom Repairs, Ogilvie Performance, Franks Transmissions, and Bob Langlois the owner of BDL Equipment.
ERIC LAVIGNE, PREMIER CHAMPION DE LA CATÉGORIE NOSTALGIA : 5 OCT. 2026
La semaine dernière, nous avons évoqué le succès de la catégorie Outlaw Heads Up la saison dernière et notre conviction qu'elle a un bel avenir devant elle. On peut en dire autant de la catégorie Nostalgia, qui entame sa deuxième saison et sa première année avec un championnat à points. Eric Lavigne entrera dans l'histoire comme le tout premier champion de cette catégorie, et quel champion ! Eric connaît bien le Luskville Dragway, où il a couru pendant de nombreuses années dans les années 80 et 90. À l'époque, il était un habitué de la piste, comme beaucoup d'autres, mais les temps ont changé et il a dû s'absenter pour s'occuper de sa famille. Mais comme pour tous les pilotes de dragsters, la passion est restée intacte, et le moment venu, il est revenu avec la même Dodge Challenger de 1970 qui lui avait valu tant de succès. Cette année, le plateau a accueilli de nouveaux visages et de nouvelles voitures, rejoignant ainsi de nombreux pilotes qui ont contribué au succès de la première saison. Des pilotes comme Danny Guertin, lui aussi ancien coureur de cette piste, tout comme Eric, Bruce Evans, Clarence May, Kevin Pelletier, Attila Karosi, Marcel Dubois et bien d'autres.
