PIT BITS MAR 2/26 *We have for over 45 years said that those that race at Luskville Dragway are a very special group of people. Even in the early days it was obvious that people had a love affair with the small NHRA Track at the base of the Gatineau Mountains. Maybe it was the sea level air, maybe it was the beautiful back drop of the Mountains, but something made it different, I could tell that even back in 1980. But today it is even more obvious and no more obvious than what has happened with the Money Tree Donations which has gone off the chart. The money tree is a fund raiser for the Jr. Dragster Program, all donations will be added to the prize package "Money Tree" and added to the Jr. Dragster Acker Bros Quick Draw Awards that take place through out the racing season. As of right now the prize package is a guaranteed $2500. and can only go higher. Tickets will be sold at the drivers meeting and on line leading up too the drivers meeting starting April 1st. Tickets will be $5.00 for a single ticket, $20.00 for 5. All on line tickets will have a picture taken of them and of them being put in the draw. In closing THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SUPPORTED THIS PROJECT. *With the 2026 season closing in on us fast and furious we are pleased to announce that Boom Repairs will be back with Luskville Dragway. Marcel Dubois is the owner of Boom Repairs in Cantley Quebec, and not only is Marcel “Boomer” a genius with small gas engines he does pretty well with is small block engine Acadian at the track as well. Boomer has one of the coolest looking cars at the track every weekend, and is one of the most photographed cars out there. Marcel will not only compete in the ever increasingly popular "Nostalgia Class" but will also sponsor the class on the Napa Weekend in June. *And our last Pit Bits this week is once again announcing the passing of another former drag racer from Luskville Dragway. Andy Vallee who like many of us fell in love with cars at a early age, and when Luskville Dragway opened in 1969 Andy along with people like Frank Cantusci, John Adams, Jim Barkley and Myself made it our go to place for many decades. Although Andy was best known for the Karbelt Speed & Custom sponsored NHRA Firebird Stocker driven by Marty Foote he started his drag racing in a number of Dodges like many others. And retired from active competition near the end of the 90's. His love of cars did not end with his end of active competition as he was a regular around the Ottawa Car Scene driving his blue Corvette or his Red SLP Firebird. We are all getting older "which is a good thing on one hand" but as we do those that are leaving us becomes more and more each year. RIP Andy say hello to Jim, John, Carl, Carol, Kendra, just to name a few who are there with you.
MORCEAUX DE FOSSE MAR 2/26 *Depuis plus de 45 ans, nous affirmons que les pilotes de Luskville Dragway forment un groupe à part. Peut-être était-ce l'air pur du niveau de la mer, peut-être le magnifique panorama montagneux, mais quelque chose le rendait différent. Je le sentais déjà en 1980. Aujourd'hui, c'est encore plus flagrant, notamment grâce à l'engouement suscité par la cagnotte « Arbre à billets », qui a explosé. Cette cagnotte finance le programme Jr. Dragster ; tous les dons alimentent la cagnotte « Arbre à billets » et sont ajoutés aux prix du tirage au sort Acker Bros, remis tout au long de la saison. Les billets seront en vente lors de la réunion des pilotes et en ligne jusqu'au 1er avril, date de cette réunion. Les billets coûteront 5 $ l'unité et 20 $ les cinq. Tous les billets achetés en ligne seront photographiés avant d'être mis en circulation. Enfin, MERCI à tous ceux qui ont soutenu ce projet. *Alors que la saison 2026 approche à grands pas, nous sommes ravis d'annoncer le retour de Boom Repairs à Luskville Dragway. Marcel participera à la très populaire catégorie « Nostalgie » et la sponsorisera lors du week-end Napa en juin. *Et notre dernière chronique de la semaine nous annonce le décès d'un autre ancien pilote de dragster du Luskville Dragway. OGILVIE AUTO & FLEET/OGILVIE PERFORMANCE PULLS OUT ALL THE STOPS FOR 2026: MAR. 2 /26 You have heard me many times talk about Luskville Dragway and its family like atmosphere, there is no question about what makes that happen at the small NHRA drag strip located just outside Ottawa, Ontario. It is my personal opinion that the large group of racing families that call Luskville Dragway their summer cottage is very much the reason. We have celebrated Canada Day together, Thanksgiving together and many, many birthdays together. One such family is the Mike and Vicky Ogilvie Family from Jasper, Ontario who along with daughters Rachel and Ashley play a BIG part in that atmosphere we are so proud of. And the family aspect continues with Mike and Vicky as they own and operate Ogilvie Auto and Fleet/Ogilvie Performance/AC Towing as a family as well. The business's which on the quietest of days is much busier than any of its counter parts in the big city. This keeps Mike and Vicky running off their feet to keep things under control. And as if they were not busy enough after the major expansion and upgrade of the main shop in 2025, Mike and Vicki made another major and crucial new expansion. When D&D Performance closed its doors a huge void was created for those that want and need performance engines. Mike and the team secured all the equipment from from the D&D Shop as well as lead engine builder Todd McIntyre. Thus Ogilvie Performance was created, a fully equipped and updated Machine Shop, Engine building facility with fully updated Dyno. To say this was a God Send for the local racing community would be putting it very lightly, even though there is still work to be done, many engines are being finished up as we speak. Look for a grand opening later on this spring, but they are open for business right now. In the racing season, Long days of running the business are usually followed well into the evening getting FOUR Super Pro Dragsters ready for competition at Luskville Dragway or some other drag strip in the area, as well as many times helping others or customers get their stuff ready as well. This is a family that from the very beginning have done as much as they possibly can to help support and promote their home track. Ogilvie Auto and Fleet is a Napa Auto Pro Service Centre which means they offer a wide range of vehicle maintenance and car repair services that help prolong the life of any car. Ogilvie Auto and Fleet can also take care of your heavy truck or motorhome repairs as well, and does so for many of the racers from Luskville Dragway who require this type of service.  Mike and Vicki are also the official FTI Transmission Specialists in Ontario and are the ones to reach out to if you need anything Tranny related.  The shop which employees a dozen full time employees is well known for its methodical work ethic, which is shown and on each and every job that comes through the doors. And those doors have gotten larger in number as this past winter the Ogilvie's added a brand new LARGE addition to Ogilvie Auto & Fleet to handle the ever increasing work load on the big rig type stuff.
OGILVIE AUTO & FLEET/OGILVIE PERFORMANCE METTE LE POINT POUR 2026 : 2 MARS 2026 Vous m’avez souvent entendu parler du Luskville Dragway et de son ambiance familiale. Il ne fait aucun doute que ce qui fait le succès de cette petite piste de dragsters NHRA située aux portes d’Ottawa, en Ontario, c’est la présence de nombreuses familles de passionnés de course automobile qui y ont élu domicile pendant l’été. Nous y avons célébré la fête du Canada, l’Action de grâce et d’innombrables anniversaires. Parmi elles, la famille de Mike et Vicky Ogilvie, de Jasper, en Ontario, qui, avec leurs filles Rachel et Ashley, contribue grandement à cette atmosphère dont nous sommes si fiers. Cet esprit familial se poursuit avec Mike et Vicky, propriétaires et gérants d’Ogilvie Auto and Fleet/Ogilvie Performance/AC Towing. Même les jours les plus calmes, leurs entreprises sont bien plus florissantes que leurs concurrentes des grandes villes. Cela oblige Mike et Vicky à travailler sans relâche pour tout gérer. Et comme si l'agrandissement et la modernisation importants de l'atelier principal en 2025 ne les avaient pas déjà assez occupés, Mike et Vicky ont entrepris un autre agrandissement majeur et crucial. Mike et son équipe ont récupéré tout l'équipement de D&D ainsi que les services du préparateur moteur principal, Todd McIntyre. C'est ainsi qu'est né Ogilvie Performance, un atelier d'usinage et de préparation de moteurs entièrement équipé et modernisé, avec un banc d'essai de dernière génération. Dire que c'était une aubaine pour la communauté locale des courses automobiles serait un euphémisme. Même s'il reste encore du travail, de nombreux moteurs sont en cours de finalisation. L'inauguration officielle aura lieu plus tard ce printemps, mais l'atelier est déjà ouvert. Pendant la saison des courses, les longues journées de travail se prolongent généralement tard dans la soirée pour préparer QUATRE dragsters Super Pro en vue des compétitions à Luskville Dragway ou sur d'autres pistes de la région. Ils aident également souvent d'autres clients à préparer leurs véhicules. Depuis ses débuts, cette famille s'est investie pleinement dans le soutien et la promotion de sa piste locale. Ogilvie Auto and Fleet est un centre de service Napa Auto Pro, ce qui signifie qu'il propose une vaste gamme de services d'entretien et de réparation automobile contribuant à prolonger la durée de vie de tout véhicule. Ogilvie Auto and Fleet prend également en charge les réparations de camions lourds et de camping-cars, et ce, pour de nombreux pilotes de Luskville Dragway. Mike et Vicki sont également les spécialistes officiels des transmissions FTI en Ontario et sont les personnes à contacter pour tout besoin relatif à la transmission. L'atelier, qui emploie une douzaine de personnes à temps plein, est réputé pour son éthique de travail rigoureuse, qui se reflète dans chaque intervention. Et ces portes se sont multipliées, car l'hiver dernier, Ogilvie a ajouté une toute nouvelle extension de grande taille à Ogilvie Auto & Fleet pour gérer la charge de travail toujours croissante liée aux poids lourds.
