COVER
SHOT: INTERSTATE BATTERIES HAS BEEN A LARGE PART OF
LUSKVILLE FOR OVER A DECADE |
PIT
BITS APRIL 29/19 *Ok 2019 is starting off very
much like 2018, lots of rain and cold weather delaying the start of the season
two weekends again this year. Yes this year has been met with two rain outs too
start the season just like one year ago, however 2018 saw us go on to have one
of the best seasons ever, so lets hope that is repeated again this season. But
there is no question everyone is getting anxious to get the racing underway and
we hope to do just that this Saturday May 4th.
 *Karine Gendron becomes
third member of Team Quebec for the 2nd Annual Foot Brake Challenge (Semi Pro)
on June 29-30/2019. Karine who drives a very quick little Mustang has been a
regular on the Canadian Bracket Super Tour, and has become a tuff customer over
the last two years. The Blue Stang will join the red Stang of Martin Patry and
the Camaro of Daniel Blouin as the Quebec City Team with Team Manager Francois
Roberge starting to look pretty tuff.
*Darryl Jensen becomes second member of Team A
Luskville Dragway for the big Semi Pro race coming up this Canada Day weekend.
Darryl is a veteran of the drag strip and a long standing supporter of Luskville
Dragway and what we do there. Running with support from Randy Urslak who is
Darryl's mentor the Red Camaro has become a car to beat and Darryl experience
just adds to that.
*Just a reminder that the
Sunday portion of the Malcolm Carpentry Opening weekend
is also May Madness Day and the winner of super pro will run off against the
winner of semi Pro for the NHRA Members Madness Trophy as well as two tickets to
ANY National event the winner wants to go too. This has become an annual affair
and is another way of backing up the Precision Concrete Mulligan Saturday for
all who make opening weekend. The trophy is a special style that NHRA has become
known for and is a welcome addition to anyone's trophy rack. The opening weekend
is fast approaching and I think everyone is like us, cant wait for it to get
here and we can go racing. Plans right now are to run a test and tune session on
Friday from 6-10 weather man being on our side of course. Opening weekend for
the points is a very special time each year, and this being our 50th. year its
even more exciting to get it going. BE THERE
*A
few more things before we check out for this Monday, The Semi Pro Drivers
meeting that took place at Busters Sunday Morning was very productive, and I
think everyone came away with a positive outlook for Semi Pro at Luskville
Dragway in 2019, I look for one of the best years ever. Look for some exciting
news to come in the weeks ahead, as everyone does what they can to make this one
of the best years ever for Semi Pro. Derek, Troy, Mike and Chris missed the
meeting as they went to the track very early Sunday Morning, (and this being the
Moring after Kyle and Meagan's Stag) to work on the new scoreboards. By the Time
Diane and I got there they already had the system up and checked, and the left
side score board down and the new one up. They kept up the fast pace even with
the wind tossing them around on the ladders, and got The Napa Auto Parts Side
done before they called it a day.

VICKI OGILVIE
WILL FLY TIRE DISCOUNTER COLORS IN 2019: APRIL 29/19
Following
in the steps of her Husband, Vicki Ogilvie has signed a major cooperate sponsor
for the 2019 racing season and beyond. Tire Discounters have come on board
Vicki's Diamond Dragster and the new colors will be flying high come opening
weekend at Luskville Dragway. Vicki joins Husband Mike who will once again fly
the Kendall Oil Colors and will have a 50th. Annual look for it this season
joining in the celebration of Luskville Dragway's 50th year. The four car team
out of Jasper, Ontario has been a backbone at Luskville Dragway for many years
now and Mom and Dad will be joined by the daughters once again this summer. We
often talk about how Luskville Dragway is a very family oriented race track, and
you don't have too go very far past the Ogilvie pits to see this. We all
congratulate Vicki on her new colors and new support from Tire Discounter
Canada. |
LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY CHARGES INTO 2019 WITH THE SUPPORT OF INTERSTATE
BATTERIES: APR/29/19
I nterstate Batteries is no stranger to Motorsports
Marketing, and Interstate Batteries is no stranger to marketing with
Luskville Dragway, and will enter the second decade of doing just that in
2019. Having Interstate Batteries on board once again this year is not just
a good thing, its a great thing, as being involved with a company that is so
involved in Motorsports makes one feel pretty good that they have chosen
Luskville Dragway as well. Interstate Batteries is with out question the
best known name in the Battery business, and that has come about because of
their HUGE involvement with all aspects of Motorsports, from Mike Edwards on
the NHRA Pro Stock Scene, to Kyle Bush on the Nascar Sprint Cup Scene, and
that is just two of the better known programs, but two that are well
documented. With the assistance of James Locke, the man in charge in this
part of the country, Luskville Dragway has had the pleasure to have
Interstate involved for over a decade now. Interstate Batteries is a lot
more than just car batteries, which is what many of us tend to believe, they
carry and sell anything that has anything to do with batteries, and any type
of batteries. Once again in 2019 Interstate Batteries and Interstate Battery
Center will be one of a number of Bracket Bonanza Class Presenters.
Interstate will also be part of our August 17th 50th. anniversary weekend. This
support is greatly appreciated and with out this type of support an event
with the stature of the Bracket Bonanza would not see the success it has and
does. Support those that Support us, buy an Interstate Battery the next time
you require a battery. |
*We
are extremely pleased to announce that Patrick Dubois will join the staff
on the Canadian Bracket Super Tour as our new announcer, staring at I- car this
spring. Patrick who has extensive experience in announcing and involvement in
drag racing will once again bring us that bilingual voice that is a necessity
for our races. A former drag racer, who has worked with Festidrag (RDS2 &
online) for many years, will bring experience and knowledge to the table and
will be a welcomed addition to our series. I'm sure that everyone joins me in
welcoming Pat, who will be around to visit many of you at the track in an effort
to get to know you as best he can.
*Quebec City
lead
by
Francois Roberge has been working hard putting their Semi Pro Challenge Team
Together, and look for the team that runner upped last year to try and take the
title in 2019. Daniel Blouin becomes the second named racer on the Quebec City
Team, to be part of the June 29th "Footbrake" Challenge joining Marten
Patry as the first two named drivers. Francois informs me that his team is full
and will release the names as we head towards the big one this summer. Blouin
with his Chevy powered Camaro, along with Patry are both a mainstay on the
Canadian Bracket Super Tour each summer, with Blouin challenging for the title
each year. Look for this team to be even tougher than they where last summer.
*With all the trouble that folks are having with flooding again this
spring, my whine this weeks seems a little selfish, but however. We are really
behind the 8 ball with getting ready for next weekend as the weather man and the
Easter Bunny put a BIG crimp in getting things ready this past weekend. So its
all hands on deck Saturday Moring this coming weekend as the boys plan on
starting work at 6 a.m. in the morning, so if your bored come on down and help
us with the scoreboards. This has been the hardest season ever to get things off
the ground but we will prevail and if the weather man cooperates cars will be
going down the track this Saturday.
*Hope everyone has been
following what has been going on a one of Major Advertiser over the winter
months, but lots of excitement at Mike and Vicki Ogilvie's shop in Jasper,
Ontario. don't forget to check everything out on May 11 at the shop with some
very , very special guests. |
AYLMER AUTO PERFORMANCE BACKS SEMI PRO CHALLENGE
#2: APRIL 22/19
Rai
Pillwien and his Son Dan, are very good drag racer's, and Rai is also a very good business man
who has a very good business in Aylmer, Quebec called Aylmer Auto
Performance. Aylmer Auto Performance does much more than performance work as
its main stay is regular automotive repair, specializing in Transmissions
and Performance Parts and work. If you have ever had the pleasure of seeing either of Rai's
two immaculate Chevy Race Cars you will understand, when we say this
business man is methodical with everything he touches, including his
race cars or your ride. Since becoming involved with Luskville Dragway what
seems like many years ago now, Aylmer Performance Autom otive
has gotten more involved with Performance Parts and supplies as well, and
today can get you just about anything you need from a Helmet, too a safety
Jacket. And with that as a back drop we are very pleased to announce that
Aylmer Auto Performance as signed on as Title Rights holder to the 2nd.
Annual Semi Pro Challenge June 29th & 30th. Rai who along with his Son
Dan, a Jr. Dragster graduate run their 67 Chevy II in the regular weekly
Semi Pro Program, and everyone once and a while bring out the 1970 Big Block
Nova to tear up some pavement. In fact Dan can add Semi Pro Championship to
his resume as he claimed that in a hard fought battle in 2018. This also puts this team in the position of
being the Team Captain for an event that has already has some teams
registered and the potential of more signing on for the big race on Saturday June
29th. This is a race that the Shannonville team won in 2018 and hopefully
will be back to defend in 2019. We can not thank Aylmer Auto Performance enough for their support
in making the Semi Pro Challenge #2 happen. |
BUTCH DOUGLAS
BECOMES THE LATEST SUPER PRO DRIVER TO SIGN ON TO THE BIG DOG: APR22/19 *The
list keeps growing and this week another strong racer added his name to the Bus ters
Big Dog Shootout August 2/2019 as part of the 38th. Bracket Bonanza at Luskville
Dragway. Butch Douglas, a regular on the Super Tour the last few years will
bring his dragster to the dance, with all intentions of taking the princess
home, or the big pot of money at least. Butch who hails from Belleville, is no
stranger to the winners circle and was leading the points for most of the Super
Tour in 2018, until Brandon Barker, another Belleville racer and good friend
made a late season charge to over take Douglas. Butch is another racer who calls
Shannonville Dragway his home track, but is no stranger to the Luskville Dragway
facility as he has raced there for many years as well. As we head into our first
time trial weekend you can tell that everyone is excited to get going, and the
Big Dog starts too fill up. |
BITS
FROM THE PITS: APRIL 15/19 *Drivers meeting
behind us, and now the work begins to set up for opening weekend and our first
test and tune day which will be April 27th. The weather man was brutal over the
winter with the freezing rain being the biggest problem as it created layers of
ice that have taken longer than usual to thaw. Of course the extra blast of
winter this past week did not help anything either, but we will prevail.

*All-round good guy and a
individual who plays a big part in the Canadian
Bracket
Super Tour Jerome Beaulieu has released the new look dragster for 2019, and it
looks great. As earlier reported Jay will fly the Napa Auto Parts Colors as well
as Valvoline, and the vinyl is now dry so to speak. Jay will run the entire
Super Tour this season and would like nothing better than put the Napa/Valvoline
Dragster in the top spot.
*We
know and understand the frustration of some racers around the announcement of
the new racing venue in the North, Chapleau, Ontario for August 23-24-25. After
receiving a deposit on the event back near the end of November 20 18,
not much has been said about the event since, there was a reason for that, as a
number of bumps in the road where met, but have been smoothed over so to speak.
As you can imagine with any new venture like this, not everyone is always on
side, and after being assured of EVERYONE'S support, everyone became all less
one. However that has been cleared up and its FULL steam ahead at this point.
Look for a Facebook page to be announced soon, and phone numbers for contacts
and Motels. They are also very close to announcing a three race triple crown
points series to go on top the Napa Tour Points program, this series would only
involve points from the 3 North races, and ALL THREE WOULD HAVE TO BE ATTENDED.
We will have more on this in the weeks ahead, it will all kick off at the 20th
Annual Elliott Lake North Shore Challenge July 19-20-21, then move to Wawa for
August 9-10-11, before finishing up at Chapleau August 23-24-25.
*Once again we will be bringing the NHRA
SFI inspector in to Luskville Dragway for the
Malcolm Carpentry Opening weekend 2019, presented by Precession Concrete
Finishing and Busters Bar & Grill. NHRA inspector will be there on Sunday May
19th. and you need to have your name on a list we are now putting together if
you want your race car SFI certification done. This is a very good thing
as it makes you aware that your car is built in the right manner, and the tubing
is of the correct thickness. It is also imperative if you are thinking of
selling your car, as anyone buying car should always make sure it is has a SFI
Sticker on it.
*Napa Money
Tour/Super Tour Super Pro Points Champ Brandon Barker has announced he
will
be part of the Malcolm Carpentry Opening weekend at Luskville Dragway, May
17-18-19. Brandon who is a third generation drag racer had a season in 2018 that
only one can dream of, and will work hard at making this summer a repeat
hopefully. Barker had hoped to have a number of races under his belt by now as
plans where to race the SFG series in Darlington and Rockingham, both of which
were rained out. He will now try and kick off 2019 at the Napierville Early Race
May 4th that is set to take 32 cars only, Super Pro and Semi Pro. Brandon who
calls Shannonville his home track will take in as many Napa Money Tour as well
as The Super Tour events as he can, but will finish off the SFG series as well
with the next race there being Michigan the end of June. The addition of Brandon
to opening weekend along with new Super Pro drivers Gary Smith and Carl Soucy
should make for a very good Super Pro Race opening weekend.
*As posted
on Facebook last Thursday, we are very pleased to announce an increase for the
Semi Pro Cars at two events this upcoming summer at Luskville Dragway. The
Aylmer Performance Semi Pro Challenge Weekend, and the Napa Auto Parts/W.O.
Stinson's Bracket Bonanza Super Tour race. We are fortunate that we have been
able to pick up some extra advertising support from Snap
On
Tools and Fireball Automatics which has allowed us to do just that for the bump
up at the Aylmer Performance Auto Semi Pro Challenge weekend. Winners for each
day in regular programs will run for $2500. to win instead of $2000. the no
entree fee challenge will still pay out $2000. to the winning team of semi pro
drivers. Locally we can also announce that we are having a Semi Pro Drivers
Meeting at Busters on Sunday April 28th at 11:00 PM. We will be discussing the
Challenge and a number of other things.
*Speaking
of Semi
Pro
Teams Francois Roberge who is taking care of putting the Quebec city team
together has already sent along some very positive information. Francoise
informs us that his team is almost together and will be even stronger than last
years team which came in second to Shannonville. Martin Patry will take the lead
spot as he was the first driver to say he was in for the second annual Aylmer
Performance Automotive Semi Pro Challenge. Patry a veteran Semi Pro driver is
very capable to win it all with his wheel standing Mustang. Patry is also a
regular on the Canadian Bracket Super Tour.
*A
couple of other Items to wrap up this weeks Bits from the Pits, The New
Scoreboards for Luskville Dragway arrived this week, after making their way from
the USA. Derek and the team
will be working this weekend at getting them up and the Big Old ones down for
the Northern New York guys who bought them for their drag strip. Right now their
plans are to come up and race the Malcolm Carpentry Opening weekend and take
them back when they go. In other GOOD news this week its been announced that
once again the Canadian Bracket Super Tour offers another bonus to all members
in the Pro Class that purchase their membership for the tour. All Pro (semi Pro)
drivers who are members, and buy back in, will receive a 10.00 refund for each
buy back they use. This is another unheard of anywhere else bonus that once gain
makes the Super Tour THE race series to race in. This refund for members was
made possible by sponsorship from Autos MP in Laval, Quebec. |
SPEEDY AUTO REPAIR THROWS ITS WEIGHT BEHIND THE JR. DRAGSTERS IN
2019: APRIL 15/2019 You
have often heard us talk about Luskville Dragway and the family atmosphere
that is etched into the small NHRA Facility located just outside of Aylmer,
Quebec, twenty minutes from Ottawa, Ontario. The many times that racers and
their families have come together to host a dinner at the track, help a racer
out, or throw financial support behind the race track and its programs. I think
I can safely say there is no other track like ours, and that Luskville Dragway
is one of the few tracks left in the country that still runs a track run points
programs for all classes. This is also made possible by the support that many of
the racers that own companies and back the track and its programs with
advertising dollars. And no one has done it any more of that than Mike Chenier
the owner of Speedy Auto Service of Gatineau. Mike has been a major sponsor
since he came on the scene a number of years ago, and he continues to do so with
surprise's all the time. Last year Mike stepped up and paid for all of the Jr.
Dragsters buy backs for the entire season, and he is going to do that once again
this summer. Last season Mike also decided that he wanted the Speedy Auto Service
name even more associated with the Jr. Class, so he too the title rights to
the class. So this means that the Speedy
Auto Service Jr. Program will not only have a points payout like past years
but every Jr. Driver will receive a Speedy Auto Service Jr. Dragster
Championship Jacket at the season ending banquet. I cant not say enough
about Mike Chenier and the other racers like him, who continually make me
feel very humble with their dedicated support too the success, the growth
and continuation of Luskville Dragway and its programs. We all know that we
are in a rebuilding period for the Jr. racers, but one thing is certain they
still have great support. Speedy Auto Service
is a complete automotive repair shop located at 372 Maloney Blvd. West,
Gatineau, Quebec, owned and operated by Mike Chenier. |
LOCAL SEMI PRO
RACERS GEARING UP FOR ELLIOTT LAKE 2019: APR 15/2019
As you can tell from the last two weeks of postings, a lot
of info came out of the 2019 drivers meeting and this week we have some more to
pass on, as a number of semi pro teams made it clear they would be going to the
20th. Anniversary Elliot Lake Race. Lead by "Tricky Dicky" Stanton of Perth,
Ontario who was a big 10,000. winner there a few years back. Dick who has been a
tuff runner is the Semi Pro Class for a number of years is an original Luskville
Dragway racer from back in the days when I raced at the track. Dick has been
knocking them dead at both Luskville, Shannonville and the Super Tour for a
while now.
Darryl Jensen another Semi Pro Racer who has been around a lot longer
than it seems, as Darryl was someone who followed us to Earlton in the 90's to
race the Northern Tour. Darryl who had planned on Elliot Lake in 2018, but had a
set back when his motor broke early in the year, say he is definitely going to
be part of this years celebration. Other drivers who did show interest where
Russ Fraser, and Wes Clarmo. This years race is of significant importance and
the organizers have done everything to make it special. We already know that
drivers like Fred Ellis and Bill Nolan of Southern, Ontario are going, so this
could be the event that we see the very best Semi Pro Racers of all time at
Elliot Lake.

BITS
FROM THE PITS: APRIL 8/19 *Well drivers
meeting is over, and this will be the last time we hold it at Busters Bar
& Grill in Lincoln Fields, NOW before you jump to conclusions NO it wont be the
last time we hold a meeting at Busters. You see Steve and Louise the owners of
Busters are moving down the road, not very far just over the hill to the
Britannia Theater Plaza ( 3090 Carling Ave.) and a brand new location. Busters
has been involved with Luskville Dragway for over a dozen years, and that will
continue in the new location which is set to open in Mid August, we are hoping
for Aug 17th Weekend. We plan on being involved with the grand opening with some
cars on display, and people to party with us. For now we will have a back to the
bar in May and one in June, and then the Lincoln fields location will close down
and the move will begin. We have many good memories from the old location and
that will never be lost, but it will soon be time to make some new ones in the
new location. WE are already working hard on next winters Annual Tree
Competition with some special prizes.
*ADM
Motorsports looking for new car to replace the Nova they bought last fall, as it
has been sold to Paolo Giust who will
have his boys Brad and Josh racing it at
Luskville Dragway this season. This is not the first car that Paolo has bought
from ADM Motorsport in fact this is the 3rd. car that the driver of "Black
Betty" one of the fastest Outlaw vs. the World radial cars in the world has
bought from ADM. Paolo will paint the car, guess which color, yep BLACK, put a
cowl hood on it and go racing. As we said this is the third car that Paolo has
bought from ADM, the first being a S&W rear engine dragster, then a 68 Camaro
that Ray Renaud now has , and the latest the Nova which did not stay in the ADM
Camp very long. As anyone knows everything ADM has is for sale at all times, and
as said earlier look for it to be replaced with something sooner than later.
*New score boards are suppose
to arrive this week, so hopefully all goes well with the installation and they
are up when we open. This is a big job as we have to take the old ones down
which has not happened for many years, so it will be a careful project to say
the least. The old boards are very heavy so taking them up in down is not easy,
we have a deposit on them and they are suppose to go to a drag strip in New York
State. Was at the track last Thursday and there is a LOT of snow, more than
usual so a decision was made to delay the first test date to a week later,
please not schedule change April 27th is now the first day of 2019. We have to be able to get in a get things ready
before we can open which includes taking down the old score boards and putting
up the new ones.
*Well our last drivers meeting at the Busters Bar Lincoln Fields,
was also the beginning of the 50th anniversary year of Luskville Dragway, so it
was fitting that it be in the old location of Busters, come August they will be
in NEW location. The meeting which is the first sign of race season being just
around the corner was met with a full house once again, even though a number of
veteran teams where missing. First on the agenda was a discussion on the state
of our sport and the many race tracks that are closing and what we have to do to
make sure ours is not one of them. New Super Pro drivers Gary Smith and Carl
Soucy where present, as well as new semi pro racer Howard Foley who all had a
chance to meet everyone. A large group of International Dyno Authority guys
where present as well as Tony Thompson, Jean Piche and others supporting the
Sport Compact class which is also looking strong for 2019. Mike Chenier was
presented with his NHRA King of the Track Jacket which was met with a large
smile. The members learned that this season would see each of them receive a
custom 50th anniversary jacket for their involvement in the points chase, as
well as a discount for entree's on regular days, a special price for test & tune
days, a discount on Luskville Dragway attire, and the ability to have their own
personal parking spot, on top of a guaranteed year end payout. Yes even after
loosing the title rights holder for Semi Pro (which we are still trying to
replace) an anonymous super pro team confirmed that they would back the series if
a Sponsor is not found. This means that once again in 2019 the winner of the
championship will receive $1000. A big thank you to Busters who supplied
everyone with great food, service and a gift for everyone present and Thank You
to all those that supported, to those that did not "dually noted".

A packed Busters was once again the scene of the annual drivers
meeting |
This lad was being dragged down town for his bachelors party
following the drivers meeting. |

All round good guy Mike Chenier was presented with his King of
the track Jacket for 2018. |

SPRING HAS SPRUNG AND
THE BIG DOG GETS SOME MORE ENTREE'S: APRIL 8/19 Well if
the past days are any indication, spring has really sprung and with the smell of
spring in the air the smell of burning tires is not far behind, and with that
excitement comes another group of drivers signing up for the Busters Big Dog
Shootout. This week see's a duet of dragsters join the fray, with the entree's
of long time Luskville Drag Racer Randy Bellefeuille as well as second
generation drag racer Dave Silliker. Both of these guys have thrown their hat's
into the open bodied side of the big race and both have the ability to win it
all. Randy who has been a big part of Luskville Dragway for years now and is
employed at Ogilvie's Auto an d Fleet in Jasper, Ontario. Randy after starting
his career in a S-10, has spent most of his time behind the wheel of a rear
engine dragster. Dave Silliker grew up just down the road from Luskville
Dragway and was a regular visitor there as a kid, first as a spectator and later
as a member of Father Dan's Dodge Super Pro Crew. Dave in his later years moved
to Southern, Ontario with his family when they moved their for work. Dave
however after getting married would return too the Ottawa area open and business
and jump back into drag racing in a dragster. Silliker has fit right in with
everyone and has become a player in the Super Pro Ranks as well, he will bring
his brightly colored dragster to the dance on August 2nd. |

BITS
FROM THE PITS: APRIL 1/19 *Racing season is
just around the corner and we kick things off this weekend with the
annual
drivers meeting which takes place Saturday at Busters Bar and Grill. As we head
into Luskville Dragway's 50th anniversary year there has never been a more
important drivers meeting than the one that is coming up this Saturday. We hope
that everyone will be there, we hope we have the largest membership sign up of
all time, there has never been a more important time to support your local
track. Also Fred Anger will be present at the drivers meeting and will be taking
Super Tour Memberships, Fred and Frank along with Para Performance play a big
part in the growth of drag racing in our area as this weeks web site points out.
*On another note, if you are a
viewer of NHRA drag racing on Fox don't be surprised if you see an article on
your track Luskville Dragway, as we have been contacted for info and have sent
in some stuff that will hopefully be used on National TV. This would be pretty
cool for Luskville Dragway, especially in the season of our 50th. year.
*We continue to talk about closing
drag strips and race tracks in general that are having difficulties, and how
much harder it is today to keep them going. This week comes news that another US
Track in Mid Michigan, Onondaga Dragway is fighting to stay open, and things
don't look good. Any of you that have been following this site has read other
stories much the same and some of them very close to us. It seems to be one
thing after another in the operations of motorsports complex's to stay alive, in
our case we where shocked to find out that our municipality tax bill has gone up
by 67%, that's right SIXTY SEVEN PERCENT, not 6 not 7 but 67. And what can you
do about it, complain, which we did, and pay it, which we did. But its just one
small example of what goes on behind the scenes that many don't ever know about. |
BEAUDION, SWAYNE, SHULTZ, DENNIQUE "STORM" INTO THE BIG DOG TO KICK OF
APRIL: APRIL 1/19 They say that if March comes in
like a lion, it will go out like a lamb, well April is coming in like a Lion
for sure, when it comes to the Busters Big Dog Shootout entree's for August 2/2019.
A large number of drivers have made
the comm itment to take part
in the $5000. to win Wally Event, and we are only
going to concentrate on the door car guys this week. Roch Beaudion who is no
stranger to Luskville Dragway and no stranger to the winners circle at the
NHRA facility just outside Ottawa. Beaudion who hales from North Bay,
Ontario considers Luskville Dragway his home track and visits there many
time through the racing season, as well as making the trips to the Northern
Napa Races. Roch and his pro stock looking Camaro will be joined by another ex
pro stock Camaro driven by Dwayne Shultz of Pembroke, Ontario who drives Allan
Marsh's X NHRA Pro Stock Camaro. Dwayne pretty much races no place
but Luskville Dragway other than the odd trip to Elliott Lake for the Napa
Tour (which we hope he does this year for the 20th. Anniversary Race).
Another driver who
helps
make Luskville Dragway look like a pro stock match race on some weekends is
Chris Dennique of Arnprior who also drivers a late model Camaro. Chris
definitely calls Luskville Dragway home and is an employee of Precision Concrete
Finishing a long time Luskville Dragway advertiser. Chris and his family
including his Dad who is also a long time racer at Luskville Dragway are at
Luskville Dragway most every weekend through out the summer as well as the odd
trip to the east for the Super Tour events at Napierville and I car. Hopes are
high that this big dog entree is also part of the 20th annual race at Elliott
Lake this season. The fourth door car this week is Brian Swayne who took the
2018 season off but will return this upcoming season with his 68 Camaro. Brian
who is originally from North Bay now calls Carleton Place home. Over the past
two weeks we have added 6 door cars to the event which is great news and great
news for the resurgence of door cars which we have seen happen over the past
years since we switched to split ladders.

PARA PERFORMANCE THE OFFICIAL SPEED SHOP OF
LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY : APRIL 1/19
In a day and
age when speed shops are becoming a thing of the past it is nice to see that
one of them is not just surviving but it is getting bigger and better as the
years go by. Its a tuff deal for independent speed shops, as the times
changed and many people starting supporting on line shopping when it came to
high performance, which was a deaf nail for many, but not Para Performance
of Montreal which is still going strong. It was only a little while ago that
we talked about Ottawa's oldest running speed shop "Young's Speed Shop"
closing, so it is great to here that Para Performance is doing well. Doing
well enough, that the owners have once again thrown their support behind
Luskville Dragway and the 2018 season. Owned François Paradis and the Anger
twins Fred and Frank, it is quick to
see that this is a racers speed shop to say the least. Para carries a complete
supply of high perf ormance products, and if they don't have it on their shelves
they can get it the next day. They are also a supplier of Abruzzi Racing
Transmission and once again in a day and age when our Canadian Dollar is not
well, this is the place to shop. They can also get you what ever size and type
of drag slick you want and have been doing so for a number of this area's drag
racers. Many years ago there was many speed shops, many of them have bought
advertising at Luskville Dragway over those years, but today Para Performance is
one of the few that is around and is growing, so please remember to support
those that support us. You can find out more about Para Performance by clicking
on their Logo in our advertisers page.
