BITS MAR 25/24 *Some dates to mark on you
calendar is obviously the Drivers Meeting, Practice Tree Party
with
live band April 6th at Busters. We can also tell you that we will have SFI
Inspection available on June 29th rain date June 30th. this is the same weekend
as the Super Tour event so mark it on your calendar.
*More
good news for Ottawa drag racers as more and more local companies see the
advantage of marketing their company or products through the sport of NHRA Drag
Racing and Luskville Dragway. Randy
Bellefeuille
of Bellefeuille Family Racing Team is extremely Pleased to announce a marketing
partnership with Dreamscape Landscaping of Ottawa for the 2024 season and
beyond. Dreamscape Landscaping can help you with all of your needs when it comes
to lawns and landscaping, call Derek at 613-821-0003. Bellefeuille Family
Racing has been a fixture at Luskville Dragway for decades now, starting out
when Randy won his first race ever in the S-10 he began his racing career at
Luskville Dragway. Now the Family Dragster which had work done at AMR in Quebec
City over the winter, see's shared driving duties with son Brody and Randy
taking turns wheeling the car.
*And
we continue with the good news for racers as Brock Godmaire announced this week
that
Pro One Safety Products Canada has signed on with the "Flying Frog" for 2024.
Brock is of course the 2023 Super Tour, Super Pro Track Champion and is doing
everything necessary to defend that championship. Brock would like to thank Pro
1 Safety rep Jerome Beaulieu for reaching out to us and making this possible.
Pro One which is also a major advertiser at Luskville Dragway has a variety of
safety gear from shoes, gloves, pants, belts and much more. And one of the great
things about their billet aluminum 5 point harness is you can send it back to be
recertified when it runs out.
*More
big news for Luskville Dragway regulars as Lewis Gagne sent along a pic of the
new
look for his brand new ride this summer. Lewis bought the AMR Dragster from
Francois Roberge last fall and has been working on making it his own over the
winter. The American Dragster four link car is certainly looking different than
it did and looking great as well. Lewis who is the owner of Lewis Gagne Trucking
is a big player at Luskville Dragway with his major sponsorship as well as his
BIG race team 3 Juniors and a Super Pro Dragster. Gagne is hoping to get down
south for a big dollar event before our season kicks off, and plans right now
are for Benson North Carolina in April following the drivers meeting. Luskville
Dragway considers itself very lucky to have racers like Lewis as part of the
Luskville Dragway Family. Lewis will debut the car at Luskville Dragway on
Malcolm Carpentry Opening weekend presented by Precision Concrete Finishing the
long weekend in May. |
OGILVIE AUTO & FLEET CONTINUES A
TRADITION, MAJOR SUPPORT FOR LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY: MAR 25/24
You have he ard me many times,
talk about Luskville Dragway and its family like atmosphere, there is no
question about what makes that happen at the small NHRA drag strip located
just outside Ottawa, Ontario. It is my personal opinion that the large group
of racing families that call Luskville Dragway their summer cottage is very
much the reason. We have celebrated Canada Day together, Thanksgiving
together and many, many birthdays together. One such family is the Mike and Vicky Ogilvie Family from
Jasper,
Ontario who along with daughters Rachel
(Barker) and Ashley play a BIG part
in that atmosphere we are so proud of. And the family aspect continues with
Mike and Vicky as they own and operate Ogilvie Auto and Fleet as a family as
well. The business which on the quietest of days is much louder that any of
its counter parts in the big city, keeps Mike and Vicky running off their
feet to keep things under control. In the racing season, Long days of
running the business
are usually followed well into the evening getting FOUR Super Pro Dragsters
ready for competition at Luskville Dragway or somewhere on the Napa Auto Parts
Super
Tour on the weekend, as well as many times helping others or customers get their stuff
ready as well. This is a family that from the very beginning have done as
much as they possibly can to help support and promote their home track. Ogilvie Auto and Fleet is a
Napa Auto Pro Service Centre which means they offer a wide range of vehicle
maintenance and car repair services that help prolong the life of any car.
Ogilvie Auto and Fleet can also take care of your heavy truck or motorhome
repairs as well, and does so for many of the racers from Luskville Dragway
who require this type of service including ADM Motorsports who rely on
Ogilvie's for numerous things. This is also a shop that is very well
diversified as they also offer everything from detailing, towing, car sales,
Black Mountain Jeeps and accessories, and many performance lines as well
including custom wheels. Mike and
Vicki
are also the official FTI Transmission Specialists in Ontario and are the ones
to reach out to if you need anything Tranny related, whether its repairs, a new
transmission or convertor. The shop which employees over a dozen full time
employees is well known for its methodical work ethic, which is shown and on
each and every job that comes through the doors. And those doors have
gotten larger in number as this past winter the Ogilvie's added a brand new
LARGE addition to Ogilvie Auto & Fleet to handle the ever increasing work load
on the big rig type stuff. For 2024 that incredible support will continue as
Mike and Vicki will do everything they can to make the Bracket Bonanza Week of
Drag Racing a huge success that it has become known for. they will be the presenters of both weekends
as well as signage space including the Tower Side Score Boards which will also
display the FTI Logo. The Bracket Bonanza Week and all the races on Bracket Bonanza
Weekend will once again carry the Ogilvie Auto and Fleet presenters title.
Another cool deal for this Family as 2024 will mark the second year of the
Ogilvie Log flying on the Paton Family top Fuel car, which will also see Mike
and Vicki as pit crew quests a number of times during the season which got
underway in Gainesville in early March. |

BITS MAR 18/24 *Some dates to mark on you
calendar is obviously the Drivers Meeting, Practice Tree Party
with

*Some
more moving and shaking in the race car world locally, as Mike Chenier called to
let me know that he has sold his many time winning Super Charged Dragster. And
sold it to Local and Longtime Luskville Dragway racer Tommy Orr. This car will
feel very much at home as this is where it began its life after Tommy had it
built by Undercover Chassis' in Florida. Tommy has sold his red corvette which
he saw some success with and will switch back to a dragster where he had a lot
of success. Tommy has wanted this car back for some time now and it finally came
through. For now Mike will concentrate on the Black Corvette that gave him a lot
of success but has not ruled out bringing his second super pro corvette out as
well. Both of these drivers have many wins under their belts and look for both
to continue doing just that this season and for many more to come. Tommy is of
course the owner of Antrim Truck Stop, Saw Mill Flats, and Carriage Landing on
the Ottawa River. Mike Chenier is the owner of Speedy Auto Repair and a long
time supporter of Luskville Dragway.

KD TRANSMISSION BACK ON BOARD AND BIGGER
THAN EVER: MAR 18/24 We are extremely
pleased to welcome K-D Transmission of Belleville, Ontario back in 2024 to Luskville Dra gway
marketing family, and bigger than ever for his 4TH season with us.
This second generation business is owned by John Golka a second generation drag
racer, following in his fathers Don Golka's footsteps. Johnny is also following
in his fathers footsteps business wise, has he took over the daily operations of
the family Business located at 68 Dundas St. West in Belleville, Ontario. The
shop which has been in the Golka Family since 1965 has been around longer than
Luskville Dragway, but the family made Luskville Dragway part of their stops
when it opened in 1969. The younger Golka who started working at the shop in
2001, took over the day to day operations in 2014 and has not looked back since.
K-D Transmissions obviously specialize in Transmissions and are very involved
with many of the local drag racers from the Belleville area. These however like
many business's these days have become very diversified with regular automotive
repair and detailing. This keeps the staff of 6 pretty busy and the shop has
been going strong.
The Golka's have a very diversified history in the drag
racing world as well, and were involved with one of Canada's premier drag racers
in the early years Dave Benn and his "Gentle Ben Ford Mustang Factory Race car.
Golka's could be seen at many tracks with Benn back
in
the day s, including Quinte Dragway (Mohawk) near their home town of Belleville
as well as Luskville Dragway, Cayuga and others.
So it was only natural that Father Don would take up the sport and then Johnny
himself would move behind the wheel of a drag car. Being a transmission specialist makes it just make sense that many
drag racers (and stock car guys) in the Belleville area would rely on K-D
Transmissions for the racing needs. The list of who uses their trans is very
large and contains many winning names of races and championships. Drivers like
Butch Douglas (Super Tour Champion) Brandon Barker (Many Time Big Dollar Winner)
Russ Adams,
and others which include Dale Gauthier, and the Al Ray Family. K-D does not just
do drag race transmissions as a number of stock car racers also rely on this
shop on Dundas Street in Belleville. Once again we remind everyone to support
those that support drag racing in our area. K-D Transmission became a new
advertiser in 2021, and will continue that support in 2024 and will once
again allow Luskville Dragway to crown a dragster champ and a door car champ
with both winning top title prize money. Again in 2024, KD will also take
the title rights to the Drag Week which features the Dave Rennie Autocare Little
Bonanza, the Bracket Bonanza as well as everything that goes on during the week.
This along with the support of others will allow us for the first time ever to
run for $10,000. to win super pro 6 times during those 9 days. It will also
allow us to pay $5000. to the winner of Semi Pro on the Saturday of the Bracket
Bonanza. This will make this race week the biggest payout event any where in
Canada and allow the Bracket Bonanza to keep the title of "the oldest" the
richest" "the best" Bracket Race in Canada. It should be
pointed out that Johnny Golka is one of the biggest givers in Drag Racing as
even with all he does at the start he is always adding things on during the year
like Jr. Dragsters Buy Backs and such. |
MID
MOUNTAIN PERFORMANCE NEWEST MARKETING PARTNER AT LUSKVILLE:
MAR 20/23
Mid Mountain
Performance began its life only
6 short years ago. Little did anyone know
that in 2018 when Spencer Livingston & Mike Ladouceur started their company,
the business would be where it is today! From what started out as late after
hours & weekends in a tiny shop has grown in 6 years to a 3 bay shop, 2 more
employees & a whole lot of support from their loyal customers to add to the
business.
Mid Mountain is a full repair shop which can
do anything from just a regular oil change to any type of maintenance or
repairs you require. But it is also a high performance shop for the car
enthusiast, which can do everything right down to fine tuning your race car!
Luskville Dragway is extremely pleased that Mid Mountain has signed on
as a Major Advertiser and will carry the presenters rights to this year's
first ever Top Sportsman/Top Dragster show at Luskville Dragway Bracket
Bonanza Weekend. Mid Mountain will join BDL Equipment who is the title
rights holder in making this event possible. THANK YOU
Contact us today at (613)989-3324 for all of
your vehicle needs!

*Luskville
Dragway was well represented at this years Motorama Car Show In Toronto where
the track Champions from the previous year (2023) was introduced and presented
with a award for their endeavors. Julia Malcolm, and Parker Segquin where joined
by super pro track champion Landyn Urslak on stage.

*NAPA AUTO PARTS CANADA,
the undisputed leader in auto parts, and Castrol Wakefield,
Canada's
#1 oil, announced today that they are partnering with drag racer Jerome "Jay"
Beaulieu for the 2024 and beyond racing seasons. With nearly 600 Stores across
Canada and 100 years
of history, there's no doubt that Napa Auto Parts stores will keep you vehicle
looking new for a long time and Napa is the brand par excellence for getting the
job done. Beaulieu counts on Kleen-Flo Tumbler Industries, Pro 1 Racing & Safety
Products and Octane Performance as partners as well.
* Jr.
Dragster Money Tree has taken on a life of its own with lots of people stepping
up to support our first fund raiser for the Jr. Dragster Program which is one of
the best in the country. And it is one of the best because of the support we
get, whether its our dunk tank, 50/50's or what ever we do the support of the
racing people is INCREDIBLE. We hope we can get more to sign on before the
drivers meeting, but would like to Thank those that have already. Dave & Pam
Rennie, Francois Roberge, Kaos Racing, Mike Chenier, Bob Landry, Al Nadeau, Al
Ray, Angie & Jason, Derek & Taz, Luc Godmaire, Brian Swayne & Tom Cline, Arnie &
Diane Malcolm. We will also be selling tickets prior to the drivers meeting for
those that cannot be present and would like to buy tickets on what could be a
$2000. Money Tree. Tickets will be $5.00 each 5 for $20.00 those buying in
advance will have their names written on their tickets prior to the draw at the
meeting.

*I think i have made it very clear how PROUD and GRATEFUL we are for our
advertisers (sponsors) and seeing them do well and their name any where makes us
feel pretty good. So when we see the Ogilvie Auto & Fleet Logo on our web site,
our track or the many trophies we hand out is a very good feeling. But seeing it
on the side of a NHRA Top Fuel dragster is a whole different feeling of pride to
say the least. In particular when it is on the side of the Paton Family Top Fuel
Car, a family that we and Luskville Dragway is tied to in many ways. The Paton
Family goes back to my first days at Luskville Dragway when Barry was still
driving the family funny car (1981) and continues today with son Tony who runs
Fast Eddie Race Wear which is where we get much of our t-shirts and stuff done
to this day. |
BW RACE CARS
IS WELDED TO LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY WITH SUPPORT IN 2024:
MAR 11/24
Brian White Race C ars
signed on with Luskville Dragway in 2014 and we are pleased and proud that
he will continue that support into the 2024 season and for many years to
come we hope. This NHRA Best Engineered Award winning chassis builder is
only moments away from Ottawa, and works out of a brand new shop to serve
all your needs. A race car driver at heart gives Brian the knowledge that only
comes from actually driving a fast drag car, and Brian has driven them all from
quick door slammers in the early years to rear engine dragsters today. With the
new wave of wants for the dragster guys being a front suspension Brian was the
first ar ound
to begin the transition for many locals and with great results. One only has to look at people like Derek Malcolm (Super Pro
Track Champion) Kyle Jessup (Super Pro Napa Tour Champ) Landyn Urslak (2023
Super Pro Track Champ) and others, Mike
Chenier, Troy Davis, Mike Ogilvie and more to see this. These
days Brian has designed his very own front suspension set up which he uses
on his own car and will soon be seen on many others. Brian who is a
drag racer at heart brings too the table much what builders
like Richard Jones and F.J Smith do, "They
are drag racers" which makes all the difference in the world. Brian does not
just curtail his work to drag cars as many street rodder and pro street
drivers have visited the Shop to have work done. White has also made a name
for himself for setting up cars , just ask ADM Motorsports, Brock Godmaire, and Bill Harling just
to mention a few. One
of the great things about this shop is the owner is not afraid to come to
the track and work with the client in getting everything right on the car,
something that goes along way in making this shop unique. Once again we
remind people to support those that support your track, that's what keeps things
going and growing. With out question everyone is patiently waiting for the debut
of the brand new 55 Chevy that Brian has been building as it looks to be one of
his greatest projects ever. |
FIREBALL AUTOMATICS SHIFTS INTO HIGH GEAR WITH LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY: MAR 11/24
As we head into our 55th year of Luskville Dragway's
existence (1969-2024)
we
are pleased to announce that one of the original drivers, advertisers,
supporters of Luskville Dragway is back in 2024. Doug (Fireball) Miller was a
drag racer when Luskville Dragway opened, he was a NHRA World Record holder,
part owner in the first super stock car to go into the 8 second zone, which
he built the transmission to do so as well. Yes Doug, who is a member of the
Canadian Drag Racing Hall of Fame, has pretty much done it
all when it comes to drag racing. Another thing Doug (Fireball) Miller has always done is
support Luskville Dragway and many of the drivers who compete there over
those years as well. A builder who is known through out North America who
today spends most of his car time show casing one of his many nostalgia
super cars at indoor shows and outside venues. A Chrysler man from day one
Doug who had many drag racing partners over the years has never left those Dodge roots, many would say he is Canada's version of Don Garlits
and I would certainly agree with that. The shop which is located not far south of Ottawa in William sburg,
Ontario has continually produced some of the best performance transmissions
in the world of drag racing. The list of competitors that use Fireball
products is as long as your arm or longer and includes Championship winning
Cars and many, many more. One of the things that stands out to me as we head
into our 51st. year is how important people like Doug Miller at Fireball
Automatics and others like him played such an important role in drag racing in
our area, and the success of Luskville Dragway from its beginnings to this
very day. We are very pleased and excited to have Doug and Fireball
Automatics back with us in 2024, need a performance Tranny, call them at

PIT
BITS MAR 4/24 * April 6th will be upon us very
fast and so will opening weekend in May, as well as the test and tune days
staring at the end of April. We are looking forward to a BIG year for Luskville
Dragway
hope you plan on being part of it. We would also like to apologize for the mess
up on our web site pit bits last week, in our story of SRT Trans and Brock
Godmaire, something went wrong with the formatting and made it come out weird.
Think I got it all fixed this week.
*
The Winner of the Mister Transmission Semi Pro Challenge will receive a special
wally trophy this season as we work to make the race even more special. The
winner of this race will not only get the big purse but will also have bragging
rights for the rest of the year AND a special Wally Trophy. Thank you Bill
Harling for making this possible. We still have a few spots to fill, one from
Shannonville and two from Southern Ontario.
*Some
more off season shaking and baking has Ted Barnes debuting a new ride at our
first Super Tour Race in 2024. Ted has been competing in the very familiar
Datsun for as long as most of us have kno wn
him, going back to the days when he drove it to the track. Over the years the
little squared bodied car has had many upgrades and many wins, But this off
season Ted decided that it was time for something different. A new white Mustang
will be the car that Barnes will start the season in and shout for the Super
Tour Championship, but keep in mind the Datsun was not sold just put on
retirement for a short time, if things don't go well with the new ride he will
not hesitate to go back to the tried and true. The Datsun has be around for a
long time and most that time Teds Dad who is gone now was always part of the
"Clapper" Team, and was always on the starting line encouraging Ted on with his
clapping of hands. |
FUNNY CAR
MATCH RACING RETURNS TO LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY THIS SUMMER: MAR 4/24
Covid changed a lot
of
things in our world and when it struck in 2019, nobody really knew what the end
game would be, but for sure it did change our world. Prior to Covid Luskville
Dragway would book in show cars each and every year and over the years we have
had some very, very big shows. But that all ended when covid touched down, and
its been 5 ye ars since we have had any booked in shows. We where lucky enough to
have Paolo Giust come out with his funny car and do some runs but that has been
it since 2019. Well 2024 will see for the first time in a while Tire Smoking,
Ground Pounding, Super Charged Funny cars AND back up girls. Yes come the
Honeywell Works Wally Weekend we will have "Funny Car Chaos at Luskville
Dragway. Yes we are very pleased to welcome the "Fireball Monza" and Chris
Massarella's "Pure Insanity" Funny Cars for the August 17-18 Weekend. This is

the North East USA as well as many tracks in Canada. The Pure Insanity car comes
with Back up Girl and all, as Chris's wife who also drivers a funny car serves
as crew member back up girl when they are far from home. |
BUSTERS BAR & GRILL CONTINUES AS OFFICIAL SPORTS BAR OF LUSKVILLE
DRAGWAY: MAR 4/24
One
of the things you will here said over and over again, is racers from
Luskville Dragway take their racing very seriously, but they also take their
having fun just as serious once the racing is over. And part of that fun
includes the great times we have had at Busters Bar & Grill, located at
their new location off the Hazeldean Rd at Eagleson. Whether its back to the
bar parties, drivers meetings, after hockey nights out or the annual Winter Practice Tree
competition, Steve and Louise the owners of Busters go out of their way to
make sure everyone has a great time. A spor ts bar that has supported
Luskville Dragway for 12 years now, and also supported ADM Motorsports when
we ran the stock car track in Ottawa, Busters is a great supporter of
Motorsports too say the least. Next up is the Annual Drivers Meeting and membership
drive (April 6th) and event that we believe will be the biggest ever this year,
with all the excitement surrounding the up coming season, be there for sure.
Yes Busters is the place to be if you are part of the good times that
Luskville Dragway try's hard to bring about, and they play a big part in
that. Busters Bar and Grill besides holding title rights as the official
sports bar, also holds rights to the Busters Big Dog Shoot Out August 1st. 2024, and the Busters Bar and Grill Cruise Night
June 1-2024. Remember to support those that support us, and if your looking for a great
place for great atmosphere, great food and cold beer Busters is the place for
you. Just a reminder that Busters has live music every Friday night and
sometimes on Saturday nights. Don't forget to mark Drivers meeting, Practice
Tree Competition April 6th. |
