LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY |
PIT
BITS APR. 25/2022
*As
we told you a few weeks back we where working with NHRA to have Tech Inspector
Steve Lecours come in to SFI race cars this spring. Well we are very pleased to
tell you that it has been
arranged for Sunday May 22/2022, which is the Malcolm Carpentry opening weekend
presented by Precision Concrete Finishing. With covid working against us for the
past two years we have been unable to schedule any SFI inspections so would
think there are many cars that have had their stickers run out. This will be
done on the Sunday Portion of the race weekend and will be done in and around
the racing program, so imperative that we get a list of those that want it done,
so it can be done in a orderly fashion. If you want your SFI Sticker updated
then please get hold of me one way or the other so your name can be put on a
list. LIST ALREADY STARTED: Roch Beaudion, ADM Motorsports(3), Acker Bros. Bill
Harling, Gord Harling. Gerry Blyth, Rowdy Boys Race Car, Terry Miron.

*Tim Fearrey has been keeping us up to
date on the progress of his Semi Pro Mustang as it will take on a whole new look
for 2022. Here is the latest's pics that we have as it finishes up in the paint
booth, before heading to the vinyl folks for some special looks. Tim promises to
keep the photos coming. A number of cars have gone through the paint booth this
off season and we will have some nice surprises when the season kicks off.
Speaking of the season kicking off don't forget $5000. to win Super Pro on the
Precision Concrete Mulligan Saturday of the Malcolm Carpentry opening weekend.
*Speaking of surprises, got a
nice call from a blast from the past racer Paul Huneault wh o
in the early 80's was a regular at Luskville Dragway with a group of other
racers. They spend every weekend at the track, Paul at that time also had a race
shop called Huneault Race Cars. Well many things have changed over the years but
like I have always said, if you were a drag racer you are always a drag racer,
and sure enough Paul is coming back out. He has teamed up with Phil MacDonald
another former Luskville Dragway regular and they have been slowing putting a
rear engine dragster together for competition at Luskville Dragway and they plan
on that happening this season. The lads said they wont be out for every weekend
but then again i have also heard that said by many a drag racer, until they
smell the rubber and feel the speed, LOL.
*We
end this weeks Pit Bits with great news for Paolo Giust as he picked up a RVW
Win in Alabama on Saturday backing up his great showings all spring long down
south. Paolo and team which includes Jamie Clarmo the owner of Clarmo Automotive
and the Stable Restaurant ran their very best time ever in their victorious
weekend. Paolo and Jamie have incredible ties to Luskville Dragway and are some
of
our biggest supporters both personally and financially. And Paolo proves that
every time he takes his wallet out, or Black Betty which is adorned with a BIG
Luskville Dragway Logo, which has got a great deal of TV time this past little
while. Its hard to put into words how proud we are of the team, its hard to put
into words how lucky we are to have people like this involved with Luskville
Dragway. The win is no surprise as after two years (Covid) of not being able to
go south to race against the best Paolo came out with more determination than I
have ever seen and it showed as every race saw the car go faster and faster and
Paolo go more rounds each and every time. CONGRATULATIONS Paolo someone who grew
up through the ranks racing at Luskville Dragway and has never turned his back
on his home track, and hey how about that reaction time in the final (.002)
WOW.
*Track was open this
past Saturday under LESS than ideal conditions, with the weather man once again
being completed wrong from his forecast on Friday, which called for sunshine and
half decent temperatures. Come Saturday Morning that had switched to clouds ,
chance of wet snow and showers. That being said a very hardy bunch of street
cars showed up through out the day to be some of the first to run the track in
2022. We only stayed open until 7:30 as the temperatures was just not the right
conditions for a cruise night. Lets hope we get better conditions this weekend
as we round out the month of April with another test and tune and cruise night.
But one thing is for sure, some are very anxious to get out and try their cars. |
SPORTS BARS ARE PART OF DRAG RACING & THINGS LOOK
PRETTY "STABLE" ON THAT FRONT FOR LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY: APR. 25/22
Drag Racers h ave
long been known for being some of the most ingenious people on this planet,
and people who seem to make things work, and work real well. I think that
adage is more than appropriate for this story as the move that Jamie Clarmo
did a couple of years ago, has turned out very, very well. Jamie and Sherri as many of
you know are drag racers, and the owners of Clarmo Auto Repair a company
that has supported Luskville Dragway for a long time. The Shop that they own
sits in a complex (plaza) that they also own, and had a restaurant that was
leased to another party. When covid hit, the leasee hit the road leaving
Jamie with an empty restaurant. Now it doesn't take a brain surgeon to
figure out there was not a line up of potential new renters, with the Covid
Pandemic and all. So the decision to take over the operations of the
facility themselves seemed like the only think they could do. Well as it
turns out, it was a great decision as the Restaurant has become a "Stable"
place to eat in the Metcalfe area, and has attracted many a drag racer over
the last year as well. In his own words Jamie is very, very pleased with the
outcome of "The Stable" Restaurant and is looking forward to the
future. So we are very pleased to announce that The Stable has signed on as
an marketing partner with Luskville Dragway for 2022 and beyond. One of the
things we already have planned is a drag race, hot rod car show and party on
August 7th in the parking lot of the restaurant, and we hope EVERYONE will
come out and support those that support us. If you follow Facebook at all
you will see that Jamie has done a masterful job of promoting the new
venture on Facebook, and no doubt has played a big part in the restaurant
having a "Stable" clientele. I should also point out that the name for the
shop came from their daughter who as many of you know is very big in horses. |
ACKER BROS RACING HOPE TO TAKE A BIG BITE OUT OF THE BIG DOG THIS
SEASON: APRIL 25/22 With all the discussion about door cars,
split ladders, double entree's over the past few weeks one quickly thinks of one
racer who was at the front of everyone's mind when that was going on. The Acker
Bros
from Kingston, Ontario have proven door cars can win, door cars can double enter
on the same side of the ladder and door cars can beat dragsters at any point. In
fact the the boys with Brian doing the wheeling have a overall Super Tour
Championship to prove it. And they did all of the above in doing so, as they
quickly pointed out a double entree not only gives you two kicks at the cat, but
it also gives you double the chances to put out someone who might me your closet
rival instead of relying on someone else to do it. And the boys are all
geared up to not only take a stab at re capturing the titles, but also any big
races they can along the way, and with that we are pleased to announce that they
will be part of the BIG DOG SHOOTOUT come this years Bracket Bonanza Week.
But don't think the dragsters are going to roll over as Terry Miron quickly
points out, and he is the 2021 overall points champion. Miron who had what many
would call a dream season, not only winning the super tour overall title but
also winning the Luskville Dragway Napa Super Pro Title as well. Terry has been
on fire since aquiring the new Diamond Chassis race car and don't look for that
to change this year, as they have spend the off season getting ready for 2022.
Terry knows he will have a target on his back as all champions do, and in his
case two championship targets. |
PIT
BITS APR. 18/2022
*Big change for
the
Fab2L Super Bike, Sled Shootouts,
as we discussed with the sponsor at the drivers meeting and both him and the
track agreed that the change would be better for the class. With the goal of
having as many in the field as possible, and having the best race track we could
for them to race on the change is the following. The separate two event
has been cancelled and instead we will run three Friday events, all based on the
Super Tour weekends which in the past has attracted large fields of sleds and
bikes. So the first Sled/Bike Shootout will take place on July 1st. Canada Day
as part of the super tour weekend. The second was already scheduled for the
Friday of the Bracket Bonanza, and the Third will be held on Friday Sept 3rd as
part of the Fall Bracket Finals Super Tour race. We firmly believe that this
will allow for the event to be a huge success and create a life of its own,
Traction is crucial and we fully believed it would be easier on a big race
weekend than when we did not have any of the big cars running.
*Another change that came out of the
Drivers Meeting back on April 9th was with the double entree's format in Super
Pro. In the past we have allowed door cars to compete on the dragster side of
the ladder if they wanted to double enter, but we did not allow dragsters to do
the same on the door side. Starting in 2022 double entree's will be welcomed and
appreciated but must run on the side of the ladder that they belong on.
Dragsters doubled up must be so on the dragster side of the ladder and door cars
that are doubled up must be on the door car side of the ladder. For years we
have worked hard to rebuilt the door car program and believe we have done just
that, but after listening to the dragster folks we do believe it is time to make
this fair change. We will be setting things up that Double entree's will be
called to the lanes first, as has been the case, and if you are doubled up we
will allow you to run with your same class car, while the other side of the
ladder is running. Meaning two door cars that are doubled in, may run against
each other during the dragster side of the ladder run order, and the same for
two doubled up Dragsters, they may come out in the Door Car round. We are doing
this in order to make sure anyone double up will have plenty of time to get er
done.
*his past week has
seen a ton of work going on as all involved did what had to be done at this time
of year to get ready fo r
the first 2022 test and tune and cruise night. Derek, Troy and Mike Code set all
the electronics up on Friday to make sure everything was ready to go, work went
on around the restaurant to get it ready for he up coming season, and the
balance of the signs went up as well. Its very sad when we are putting things
away in the fall but I have to tell you it gets pretty upbeat when things start
to go together in the spring. However which the weather had been a little more
upbeat as we spend all day Easter Sunday doing Guardrail repairs. Im not a cold
weather person and with the wind that always seems to be blowing at this time of
year, it was not a pretty day, but when its the only day the contractor can do
it, you get it done. Special Thanks to Mitch Hanson who also gave up his Easter
Sunday to get the job done. Most contractors are swamped with their regular
customers so getting Mitch was a bonus at this time of year.

CLARMO AUTO REPAIR CONTINUES STRONG
SUPPORT OF LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY: APR. 18/22
When it comes to drag
racers who own their own business's and who support our track Luskville Dragway, CLARMO AUT O
REPAIR is right up there with the best of them. Located in
Metcalfe, Ontario this is a full service auto repair shop that can fix
anything. Owners Jamie and Sherri Clarmo have been running their own
business for years now and have been racing and supporting Luskville Dragway
for many years as well. I think many will agree with me, there is something
about a person who drives a race car and works on race cars, working on your
personal vehicle, the methodical work that is performed is like no other.
Jamie and his staff are some of those and your satisfaction is guaranteed
when you visit this shop . So the long cold months are still ahead of us, so
make sure your car or truck is ready for the long winter months, visit
Clarmo Auto Repair you won’t be disappointed. This family owned business
is very much a family race team as well, as Jamie, Sherri and son Steven are
at the race track many a time together, racing and joining in with the rest
of the teams that are there. The Clarmo Family is also very much part of all
the extra activities that are part of the race track, such as pot lucks,
back to the bars, tree parties, and on an on, but you get the idea, they are
a big part of Luskville Dragway. |
FIRST BIG DOG
ENTREE'S STARTS THE POTENTIAL OF 4 $10,000. @ THIS YEARS BONANZA: APRIL 18/22
With the posting of the Bracket Bonanza Flyer this week on
numerous social media outlets it did not take long for the Busters
Big Dog
entree's to start lining up to be part of what is going to be the biggest race
this country has ever seen. Butch Douglas, and Johnny Golka twice will join,
Troy Davis, Derek Malcolm and Kyle Jessup, Mike Chenier as some of the first to say they will
be part of the Busters Big Dog Shootout Thursday July 29/2022. Yes if you like
drag racing, and you like seeing cars go down the track the last weekend in July
will give you an opportunity like no other. The event kicks off on July 23-24
with the Dave Rennie Autocare Twin $5000. warm up races, and pretty much
continues all week. And with the Busters Big Dog race surpassing the $10,000 to
win in prize money the Bonanza has the potential to be FOUR BIG DAYS WITH
$10,000. to win each day. |
PIT
BITS APR. 11/2022
*We have been at the
track a few times last week do get started on the work that is part of opening
up every year, as well doing work projects that we set out to do last fall, when
spring rolled around. We met with the paving contractor and the electrical
contractor on Wednesday and we will be moving forward on some more improvements
this spring. These will be centered on offering a few more electrical parking
spots, and expanding the paved parking spots as well. We are still working on
cleaning up the major work that we did in 2020, and once that
is
done our next major job will be the repaving of the shut down, which will get
done as long as I live long enough LOL. *Congratulations to Vicki Ogilvie
for continuing her marketing partnership with Tire Discounter Group in 2022.
Vicki is of course part of the Dragster Family from Jasper Ontario who along
with Husband Mike and Daughters Rachel and Ashley play a big part in Luskville
Dragway every weekend. Vicki had an outstanding season last year and many
believe could become the second member of this family to win a championship.

DRIVERS
MEETING, PRACTICE TREE COMPETITION 2022 A BIG HIT: APRIL 11/22
It was much like a coming out pa rty
for many, as some had not been able to attend any of our indoor functions for
two years now, so to say there was an upbeat atmosphere would be putting it
lightly. And I think Lewis Gagne from North Bay said it best when asked if he
was coming, "No Masks, No Mandates, No Excuses" I will be there. Yes its been a
while but you could tell that everyone was glad to be together, and too have
things back to some sort of the normal we where use too. And with the drivers
from North Bay, Toronto, Belleville, Kingston, Quebec City, joining all the
locals it was quick to see how far Luskville Dragway has grown since the
rebuild. I think it is very very clear that Luskville Dragway is very much a
dedicated Bracket Racing Track and that the Bracket Racers and the Cruise Night
crowd are our niche. The drivers meeting saw many things discussed, from
Scheduling, to Super Tour, too Memberships and parking to improvements that
where planned for 2022. The drivers where informed that improvements would
continue with expanded paved parking into the top end of the pits, some work on
some of the softer spots in the main pit area, as well as the tower side. It was
also pointed out that other smaller things such as updates to bathrooms, and the
restaurant had already started.
Following the drivers meeting which included a ton of banter on a number of
things it was time to turn our sights on having a party, a practice tree party
that is, with a lot of money to win. The party was just that a big party that
lasted well into the night. Kyle Jessup and Russ Adams ended up in the finals of
the practice tree competition with Kyle taking home the lions share of the
$1000. With over 40 Super Pro Drivers and 30 Semi Pro Drivers already
registered for the season, it looks like it could be a BIG YEAR, come on weather
man. |
SKETCHES INC. "INKS" DEAL FOR 2022 WITH
LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY & ADM MOTORSPORTS: APR. 11/22
The boys
at
Sketches Inc. the new in spot to get your custom painting done have been
overly busy this winter. But the boys have not been too busy to take the
time to "Ink" a new deal with Luskville Dragway and ADM Motorsports for the
2022 Racing Season. If you are a follower of this site or Luskville Dragway
you know that this is a company that came on the scene only a year ago, but
have made a big splash in a very short time. Brandon and the boys have
quickly become a big part of the track, and have already put out some cool
stuff in the form of helmets and transmission. But this spring will see the
debut of a all out full tilt custom paint job on the ADM Motorsports 1963
Corvette Roadster that Kyle Jessup drives. There was no question that the
helmets and trans they did where first class and set the wheels in motion,
but with this latest endeavor I think a lot of peoples eyes are going to be
opened very wide. The shop which is located at 7A Cleopatra just off
Merivale Road (613-366-2548)
and has many things that the drag racer may be looking for besides custom
paint jobs. |

*Over
the last little while we have had the misfortune of commenting on race tracks
that have or will be closing their doors, and the list is a very long one that
has had another one added this week. NHRA announced that 2023 will be the last
year for the nationals at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Phoenix, Arizona,
just another in a long list of MAJOR tracks that have or did hold NHRA National
Events. You
can
go back as far as Englishtown, and add Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, West Palm
Beach (IHRA) and now Wild Horse Pass. This is in most cases the price of land,
as it sky rockets to unheard of prices and Major Companies are buying it up as
it typically is close to interstates and in most cases is large acreage, (West
Palm Beach bought by Wal-mart). Add on to this the problems that some are facing
from the governments in their area's (SGMP for example), it is not a good time
for owning a drag strip. We see the difference even on a local level, where just
the garbage for example has become a major problem, where in the old days you
piled it at the road and they picked it up, paid for by your taxes, now you pay
your taxes and garbage pickup is EXTRA. Yes understandable that times change but
they never change in the race tracks favour. *All
right
Drivers Meeting this Saturday at Busters Bar & Grill 2:00 pm
this is the "No Masks, No Mandates, No Excuses" drivers meeting and tree party.
We have been waiting for this for 2 years so please don't let us down and show
your support. This will be a membership/parking sign up, as well as a sign up
for the Bracket Super Tour as well. Just read the article above this one, race
tracks are closing left right and center, we have a hard time getting our tour
dates in anywhere, and in the last 41 years Luskville Dragway regulars have
never had to worry what was going to happen each spring. The gates would be open
and drag racing would be going on as well as more improvements, so please show
your support for both Luskville Dragway and the Super Tour which Luskville
Dragway plays a major part in. "BE THERE"

W.O. STINSON & SON FUELS THE EXCITEMENT AROUND LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY
FOR 2022: APR.4/22
With ou t
question these are changing times as we work our way through this virus deal and
get back to some sort of normality in 2022. But one thing that has stayed normal
and not changed during these trying times is the strong support from W.O.
Stinson & Son to Luskville Dragway and all the racers that compete at the small
NHRA race track located in Luskville, Quebec. John Armstrong who heads the
marketing department for Stinson, as well as much more, including total control
of their Motorsports involvement has been stead fast for3 decades now with Luskville Dragway and has made it
clear that will continue when we go racing in 2022. And we are extremely
excited to announce that this year Stinson's will once again be back and
back BIG TIME with Luskville Dragway. 2022 will mark the fifth year in a row
that W.O. Stinson & Son will hold the official Co- Title Rights to Canada's
Oldest, Richest, and Best Big Dollar Bracket Race, The Stinson & Son Bracket
Bonanza.
This is a HUGE accomplishment for Luskville Dragway which over the
years has had a number of different title rights holders, like the very
first one, Reddi Chef Chicken, The Ottawa Sun and Napa. With the support of
Stinson's & Sons we hope to make this years Bonanza the BIGGEST EVER. Obviously race fuels and lubricants are not their mainstay as
this company which is the largest fuel supplier both for cars and trucks and
also for homes and business's across our area. W.O Stinson's & Sons gas
stations can be seen almost everywhere and are one way that you the
motorsports personal can certainly support those that support us, just by
purchasing your gasoline needs at a Stinson Gas stations. W.O. Stinson's
also
can take care of your personal home or business fuel needs whether it
be furnace oil or propane for your house or business. W.O. Stinson will
continue to be the official race fuel supplier for Luskville Dragway and
will continue to make deliveries each and every week directly too the track
to make it easier for racers to get their fuel. Along with VP Racing Fuel
race teams will also be able to purchase Kendall Race Oil and Brad Penn
performance products as well. W.O. Stinson is the official Sunoco Fuel Distributor for Eastern Ontario
and in being so can supply you with the best price and the best product. Please
support those that support us and purchase your fuel and lubricant needs
from Stinson's. This is a perfect time to point out once again the
importance of supporting those that support us, with out them we would not
survive. Again I remind EVERYONE, you can have your products delivered right
to the track, call Derek May at Stinson's. I would also remind everyone that
Stinson's deliver to the track every Friday during race season, and we will
have a mid week delivery the week of the Bonanza. |
CHASSIS GURU BRIAN WHITE OF BW RACE CARS CONTINUES STRONG SUPPORT IN
2022: APR.4/22
Brian White Race C ars
signed on with Luskville Dragway in 2014 and we are pleased and proud that
he will continue that support into the 2022 season and for many years to come we hope. This NHRA Best Engineered Award winning
chassis builder is only moments away from Ottawa, and works out of a brand
new shop to serve all your needs. A race car driver at heart gives Brian the
knowledge that only comes from actually driving a fast drag car, and Brian
has driven them all from quick door slammers in the early years to rear
engine dragsters today. With the new wave of wants for the
dragster guys being a front suspension Brian was extremely busy over the
last few years making a lot of drivers winners with their front suspension
conversions. One only has to look at people like Derek Malcolm (Super Pro
Track Champion) Kyle Jessup (Super Pro Napa Tour Champ) and others, Mike
Chenier, Troy Davis, Randy Urslak, Mike Ogilvie and more to see this.
Brian who is a drag racer at heart brings too the table much what builders
like Richard Jones and F.J Smith do,
"They are drag racers" which makes all
the difference in the world. Brian does not just curtail his work to drag
cars as many street rodder and pro street drivers have visited the Shop to
have work done. If you need any type of work done to your street rod,
whether it be engine compartment, headers, rear ends or what ever, this
professional shop is the place to go. White has also made a name for himself for setting up cars ,
just ask ADM Motorsports, Joel Lapierre, Larry Whitty, and Bill Harling just
to mention a few. One
of the great things about this shop is the owner is not afraid to come to
the track and work with the client in getting everything right on the car,
something that goes along way in making this shop unique. We are also very
pleased to announce that Brian and Jose will return to the drag racing wars full
time this summer, which is good news for everyone but the competition. Once again we
remind people to support those that support your track, that's what keeps things
going and growing. |
AUTO TRIM DESIGN "WRAPS" UP A DEAL WITH LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY AGAIN FOR

1444 Cyrville Road,
Ottawa, Ontario 613-769-1575. Mike Piecki the owner

performance cars.
Mike is responsible for all the great signage you see at Luskv ille
Dragway, as well as a number of cars that carry a Auto Trim Design full wrap,
like Ralph Coe's Wheel standing Dodge. Besides supporting Luskville Dragway the
Auto Trim Design can be seen as support on Terry Miron's
winning dragster
as well as Arnie Malcolm's gorgeous golf cart.
Auto Trim Design & Signs is also an
official distributor of WEST CAN Manufacturing Products; a contractor’s choice

The cool think about dealing with Mike is the fact that he loves cars, racing
and car shows and that shows in his work and his response to getting your stuff
done. Mike is also a music lover and can be found at Blues Fest each and every
summer as well, but lets face it fast cars and music have always gone together.
So once again this season we are proud to say that Auto Trim Design is the
