RAI PILLWIEN WIT HIS DRIVER SON DAN ARE A FORCE WHEN EVER THEY MAKE IT OUT TO
RACE |
BITS
FROM THE PITS JAN 30/23 *Hope everyone has Feb 4th marked off
on their calendar as it is coming fast and is the so ft
kick off to the 2023 racing season, with the 1st. Annual Winter Rumble Practice
tree competition. Rachel and Brandon Barker of Bracket Life Brands have worked
hard at this first ever event and if our practice tree competition history is
any indication then there should be a BIG turnout. So mark next weekend on your
calendar and also mark April 8th. as it is the next big deal on the kick off to
racing season 2023. The annual Drivers meeting and practice tree competition at
Busters Bar and Grill for Luskville Dragway is always a great day of fun and
entertainment.
*Got
of ficial
word this week on a couple things out of the AMR shot this week (Atelier
Mechanic Roberge) as Francois Roberge touched base with some info on 2023. First
of off Francois has been hard at work on his new door car for the up coming
season. The Chevelle bodied door slammer will see some action along with last
years American Dragster. Francois was
unsure "how many races but the plans are to do as many as possible with the two
cars. Francois is also very much involved with the Monagham Team as well, and
has informed us that Leah who was last years Luskville Dragway Jr. Dragster
champ, will return to defend her title, but will also make as many passes as she
can in the rear engine dragster with the intentions of moving to it full time in
2024. Francois has had a big impact on the racing at Luskville Dragway as they
now call it home, and race there every points weekend that the track puts on.
That also includes Eric Monagham and his family as well which quite often
includes one or two super pro, semi pro and a jr. dragster. Luskville Dragway is
very fortunate to have racers that travel so far to race at our track, and are
always part of the fun going on.
* Made
my annual winter trip to Bradenton Motorsports Park, to watch some great Pro Mod
Racing, at the all new and improved southern Florida facility, and was not
disappointed with what I saw. The owners of Bradenton even though they are
fighting a new housing subdivision wanting to build in their back yard has spent
a ton of money to greatly improve their race track. Major league grandstands,
lots of pit paving, an all new concrete starting line, and much more was nice to
see and a good sign for the future of drag racing in this area, and a good sign
for anyone in this business. Over 40 Pro Mods plus one exhibition Pro Mod trying
to set the world quarter mile ET and Speed for a door car was part of the day of
racing. Also ran into some Super tour Racers from the Quebec City area so was
able to do some bench racing as well as watch some real stuff. As much as I
enjoyed it, I have to be honest I get just as excited watching the racing that
goes on at our own track especially on big weekends, watching the people that
you know and call friends is as or more enjoyable these days i have to admit. |
AYLMER AUTO PERFORMANCE RETURNS AS TITLE RIGHTS
HOLDER TO SEMI PRO IN 2023: JAN 30/23
Rai
Pillwien
the owner of Aylmer Auto Performance taken a few season off from racing,
he did not how ever take off any advertising support for Luskville Dragway. And Rai
will be not only returning as a major advertiser again in 2023, but he along
with his Son Dan who does the driving plan on doing some racing this season
as well. And with that as a back drop we are very pleased to announce that Rai
has committed for the fourth year in a row to carry the title rights to the Semi
Pro Points Championship at Luskville Dragway. So as we head into our third
season on the new track, and many more improvements, we do it with great
support for the semi pro cars again in 2023 thanks to Rai. Aylmer Auto Performance does much more than performance work as
its main stay is regular automotive repair, specializing in
Transmissions
and Performance. If you have ever had the pleasure of seeing either of Rai's
two immaculate Chevy Race Cars you will understand, when we say this
business man is methodical with everything he touches, including his
race cars or your ride.
Since becoming involved with Luskville Dragway what
seems like many years ago now, Aylmer Performance Automotive
has gotten more involved with Performance Parts and supplies as well, and
today can get you just about anything you need from a Helmet, too a safety
Jacket to a set of tires. Rai who along with his Son
Dan, a Jr. Dragster graduate run their 67 Chevy II in the regular weekly
Semi Pro Program, and everyone once and a while bring out the 1970 Big Block
Nova to tear up some pavement. We can not thank Aylmer Auto Performance enough for their support
and urge all to support those that support our sport and our track. A number of
semi pro racers pretty much call Aylmer Auto Performance home, as Rai does so
much to assist all involved with our track. A side note is that Rai's son Dan
who is considered one of the best semi pro drivers any where, got a chance in
2022 to showcase his talent driving Bob Therien's Ford Semi Pro car, and did so
by taking it to the winners circle. |
BRACKETLIFE BRAND JOINS THE LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY MARKETING FAMILY AGAIN
IN 2023: Jan 30/23
I
think it is safe to say that Bracketlife Brands has had an impact on the
local drag racing crowd, in fact most of the drag racing crowd in Ontario
and Quebec and elsewhere. You would find it very hard to go to one of the local races with
out seeing MANY racers, crew members and spectators wearing some of their
very popular gear. Brandon Barker and Rachel Ogilvie Barker have done a masterful
job of marketing their product and it tells by the number of shirts, hats
and hoodies you see at the race track. Luskville Dragway is a prime example
wear on any given race day you see many if not most of the race teams with
someone wearing some of the Bracket Life Brand Stuff. And this is just
another example of how this current major advertiser takes advantage of
getting their name out their and in a very smart fashion. The team has also
added a Bracket Life Talk Program to their program and it too has become a very
popular off season deal. The show features Brandon and Southern Ontario Drag
Racer elite Andrew Strick. The team have garnered a large following with
their bye weekly program, talking everything Canadian Bracket Racing.
Bracket Life Brands will also for the first time hold an off season Practice
Tree Competition this February which by all accounts is going to be BIG.
Bracket Life Brands as they did the past two years will play a major part in the 2023
racing program at Luskville Dragway by being a major marketing partner once
again this season. |
SOME NEW BIG
DOG ENTREE'S, BARKING AT A WIN IN 2023. JAN 30/23
Winning the Busters Big Dog Shootout is probably the most
prestige's event Luskville Dragway produces, yes winning the Bonanza is special,
but now a days you have three chances to do that over the long weekend in
August. So this week we have heard a lot of "Barking" about who is going to win
or not, and we add a number of names of those that have not done that just yet,
in fact a few who have never even ran in this big deal. Paul Huneault a every
weekend regular back in the 80's made a return to the drag racing wars at
Luskville Dragway in 2022 and has added his name to the dragster side of things.
Back when Paul was a regular the Bonanza started out as a one day affair and a
big dog shootout was something NO one could have even dreamed of back then. The
next pair of are door cars and both run out of the KD Transmissions Shop in
Belleville, Ontario, John Golka the owner of KD and good friend Butch Douglas
will both be a force to reckon with. Johnny who is very much involved with
Luskville Dragway is the title rights holder to DRAG WEEK 2023, and would like
nothing better than to walk away with the Wally and the $10,000. that goes with
it. Butch Douglas has had a variety of cars over the last few years but has
settled on the Olds Door car for his attack on the 2023 racing. Up next is a
couple of No rthern,
Ontario drivers as Lewis Gagne of North Bay and Ed Loftstrom from Sault St.
Marie will try to put their mark on the history of the big dog. Lewis played a
pivotal spot in the installation of the new concrete barriers at Luskville
Dragway as he had his company transport 14 loads of barriers from Montreal to
the race track in Luskville. Lewis is also no stranger to big dollar wins, and
will be one of the dragster drivers to watch. As far as watching we are not sure
if we will be watching Loftstrom in his traditional neon green Firebird or the
brand new Diamond Dragster that he has purchased this past off season. Last but
not least is the original winner of the Big Dog, Ralph Coe who won the event
back in 2009 when we first started running the race. Ralph is another one of the
racers that plays a big part in how Luskville Dragway looks, as his company
Trillium Pave Mark does all the line painting at the track and always has the
place looking great for the Bonanza and the Busters Big Dog Shootout every year. |
BITS
FROM THE PITS JAN 30/23 *Wally's, Wally's, Wally's will be
the name of the game this season as we will be presenting
more of these very famous trophies than in any other year. First of all thanks
to Dave Rennie Autocare we will be presenting all winners of the Little Bracket
with Wally's, Super Pro, Semi Pro and Jrs. Thanks to Roberge Mechanical we will
be adding another Jr. Dragster Wally Weekend in conjunction with his weekend.
The Bonanza will see Wally's for Super Pro, Semi Pro, and Jrs. for the the
Friday, Saturday and Sunday of that weekend. The Honeywell Works Wally Weekend
will also see the King of the Track Winner receive a Wally, like they have for
the past number of years.
*As
we posted on our Facebook page last Wednesday, there will be some small changes
to the Luskville Dragway Track Schedule for 2023, as we work to accommodate the
Super Tour Series and the Money Tour" at other tracks. We are fortunate in the
fact that we can do that, and will do what ever it takes to help out drag
racing in our area, and we believe it will. There could be some news out of the
North as well, that could affect our scheduling but that too is still up in the
air, stay tuned. We are hoping to have all scheduling in place very soon so
everyone can make their plans for what I believe will be the biggest season for
Luskville Dragway EVER.
*Stay
tuned we could be hauling into town with a brand new advertiser for Luskville
Dragway, fingers crossed hoping for the best as we work hard at making Luskville
Dragway Bigger & Better".

*Scott Wilson called this week to let us
know that he has purchased Russ Adams back up motor to put in the undercover
dragster he bought a year ago and will return to the race track this summer.
Scott had planned on being out in 2022, but the construction of his brand new
building for his business took a lot more time than he expected, and that had to
be priority number one. Scott has been a very good supporter of Luskville
Dragway when he was racing and when he was not racing and we are all looking
forward to his return to the Drag Racing wars. Scott's son Jacob was also a
force in racing at Luskville Dragway and during his Jr. Dragster days was a tuff
driver to beat. |

AUTO TRIM DESIGN "WRAPS" UP A DEAL WITH LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY AGAIN FOR
2023:
Auto
Trim Design
is
located at
1444 Cyrville Road,
Ottawa, Ontario 613-769-1575. Mike Piecki the owner
of Auto Trim Design is definitely a car guy and is very much involved with
performance cars.
Mike is responsible for all the great signage you see at Luskville
Dragway, as well as a number of cars that carry a Auto Trim Design full wrap. Besides supporting Luskville Dragway the
Auto Trim Design can be seen as support on Terry Miron's
winning dragster
as well as Arnie Malcolm's gorgeous golf cart.
Auto Trim Design & Signs is also an
official distributor of WEST CAN Manufacturing Products; a contractor’s choice
for mobile storage solutions. Shelving is the
starting point for all mobile work
vehicles.
Auto Trim Design is also an official Rhino Truck Liner supplier.
The cool think about dealing with Mike is the fact that he loves cars, racing
and car shows and that shows in his work and his response to getting your stuff
done. Mike is also a music lover and can be found at Blues Fest each and every
summer as well, but lets face it fast cars and music have always gone together.
So once again this season we are proud to say that Auto Trim Design is the
official graphic supplier for Luskville Dragway,
Support those that Support Luskville Dragway.
Update check out the new Trailer wrap on one of the ADM Motorsports
trailers, and the new wrap that will be unveiled on the new Auto Trim Design
Semi Pro Dodge this spring. |
BIG DOG TAKES
ON A FAMILY AFFAIR THIS WEEK, AS 8 THROW THEIR NAMES IN THE WAR: JAN 23/23
This is a busy week for the Busters Big Dog
list as 8 new faces will take their place on the High
Roller Page for the race that is the Thursday portion of the Bracket Bonanza
Weekend. This week also is a perfect example of racing families, as the 8 new
teams represent 3 different families, which is what Drag Racing is famous for.
First off is the race team that is known as the Dragster Family, The Ogilvie's
from Jasper, Ontario. Mike Ogilvie, the main force behind the race team leads
the way with his wife and partner Vicki Ogilvie right beside him. Vicki picked
up her first win in 2022 in her Tire Discounter Dragster and that is just a
taste of what many believe is in store for her. Mike who drives one of the
tracks very fastest super charged dragster is a force to reckon with anytime he
takes to the track, and will have a busy
weekend with all the regular races plus all the add on ones. And being busy is
an mild statement for Mike, as both Daughters will be on the list as well to try
and be the first Ogilvie to win the Big Dog. Former Super Pro Track Champ Ashley
Ogilvie as well as sister Rachel Ogilvie Barker will be trying to add a females
name to the Championship Trophy. Joining this family will be the Bros Barker as
Daniel and Brandon Barker have both added their Bracket Life Brand sponsored
dragsters into the battle royal. Brandon who has won just about everything, has
not won the Big Dog and he very much wants to, and wants to this summer. Another
pair of Brothers have joined the parade as well, as former Jr. Dragster Track
Champ Landyn Urslak will be joined by older brother Kayle in a double Urslak
attack on the Busters Big Dog. The second car which is a Undercover dragste r
that was bought a few years ago has not seen much action because of engine woes.
Team owner and part time driver Randy has informed me that a brand new engine
will go in the car this season which should make them see a lot more action with
car #2. A pair of door cars add their names to the list this week, which just
happens to be a family affair as well. Long time Luskville Dragway regular Dale
Gauthier will be joined by his son as they try to double up and win the Busters
Big Dog for the first time for either one. Dale like Dave Rennie are two racers
who where both racing at Luskville Dragway when we took over back in 1980.
Filling out the top 32 cars is Dave and Pam Rennie, which is a full story in its
own, Dave returning a few years ago, and with in a very short period of time
going on to win the Super Tour Super Pro Championship. And then to be joined by
his wife Pam Rennie two years ago winning Rookie of the year in her first season
ever in a rear engine dragster. So as we get close to closing out January and
getting much closer to race season, we have already hit 32 cars on the list,
(and many more already committed), Could we go over 100 super pro cars again
this season which would only be the second time ever for the Tour or Luskville
Dragway, "I think its possible" |
BITS
FROM THE PITS JAN 16/23 *If you have been following our
reserved parking spots posts this off season you hav e
probably noticed a significant number of new names taking some of the pit spots.
This is a group of drivers from Royon Noranda Quebec and area who have over the
years made the long trip to Luskville Dragway. These drivers are all making a
concerted effort to support not just Luskville Dragway but also the Canadian
Bracket Super Tour events in particular. They like people like Jonathan Roy have
a six hour trip or more to make their way to Luskville Dragway, but it is the
closet NHRA Track to them. These guys have a small track in their area that
operates as well in the racing season but does not race every weekend giving
them an opportunity to travel and take in some new racing. Many have indicated
they will take part in Drag Week like Yvan Grenier, who has also added a new car
to his drag racing wars this summer. Like Yvan Stephan St. Amore, has also
purchased a new Super Pro Nova to tackle the competition with this season, and
take a stab at the Super Tour.
*And wi th the good news in the story above, comes the bad
news in this story.
A bit of a surprise this week as I touched base with the Quinton
Family, formerly of Vermont and what their racing plans where for 2023. Well
turns out they wont be racing in our area anymore as they no longer live in
Vermont but have moved to Virginia, and warmer weather. Tim Quinton and his son
Cole have been to Luskville Dragway numerous times as well as many other stops
on the Super Tour. However the lure of warmer weather for more of the year and a
closer proximity to more Super Class Racing lured the Boys further south. The
Quinton's where always a pleasure to have at the track and will me missed, Cole
did say they would venture North once and while to race just to see old friends.
*If you have not seen We dropped the Super Tour
Schedule this week, so we will be making some small changes in the Luskville
Dragway Schedule, Please stay tuned. |
D&D PERFORMANCE LEAD THE WAY WITH PERFORMANCE RACE
ENGINES: JAN 16/23
Not many things last a s
long as the support that D&D Performance of Chesterville, Ontario as shown
for Luskville Dragway and the many racers and fans that frequent the more
than 50 year old NHRA Drag Strip in
Luskville Quebec. D&D Performance and Luskville Dragway have drawn parallel lines in longevity, growth, as well as marketing partnerships since the
track was build in 1969. Rolly Doucette and
the late Ed Decooman the owners of this ve ry
successful performance and race engine shop now located in Chesterville,
Ontario, where some of the original drag racers from this area. These two
where some of the first to come through the gates way back when Luskville
Dragway opened in 1969. Both of these fine gentleman are now members of the Canadian Drag Racing hall of Fame
as well as their fame for building winning race engines. So these are two
gentleman who have watched drag racing and Luskville Dragway go through many
changes over the years, as has D&D Performance. Things are much
different today than when they started out in small Sunoco gas station in
Gatineau, Quebec. But one thing has not changed and that is their support
and dedication to Luskville Dragway and many drag racers across the country.
Many other things have changed but one thi ng
has not, and that is the fact that D&D can be found at
Luskville Dragway many weekends helping out their customers in anyway they
can. One of the D's in D& D, Ed Decooman passed away a year ago but D&D
continue to build some of the best race engines not only in our area but across
Ontario and Quebec. One only needs to look around the list of winners to
quickly see that this is a shop that produces top quality winning
combinations, j ust ask drivers like Jamie Tupper, Derek Malcolm,(7
Time Super Pro track Champion) The Ogilvie's including 2020 Super Pro Track
Champ Ashley, Russ Adams, Troy Davis (2021 Track Champ), Mike
Chenier, Darren Frasso, Al Ray, Dale Gauthier and the list goes on and on. Now don't
think for a moment that they only build drag racing engines as many a street
car performers come out of this shop as well, as do boat engines and truck
and tractor pulling bullets. D&D
Performance as you can tell has always been a big part of Luskville Dragway and
that partnership continues into 2023 with their advertising support, and their
support of the Napa Auto Parts Fall Bracket Finals/Super Tour, Sept 1,2,3. |
DSE BECOMES
NEWEST
MEMBER OF THE LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY ADVERTISING FAMILY: JAN 16/23
Dave Strick Enterprises has been a well known name in the
world of Canadian Drag Racing, and especially in Southern Ontario where this
performance oriented shop is located. Dave was also a very well known and
successful drag racer who for many years competed at local race tracks as well
as venturing out to NHRA National events at other tracks. Fact is I had the
pleasure of competing in Super Gas Eliminator back in the day with Dave Stirk,
at tracks like Sanair and Cayuga. These Days the driving duties are left to
second generation Andrew Stirk who has picked up right where his Dad left off
with the winning ways. Andrew is considered one of the best racers when it comes
to the Super Pro and Semi Pro racing with his two car team. DSE has had many a
race car over the days from Camaro's, to the famous Cavalier Super Gas Car, to
the Corvette Roadster and Mustang that Andrew competes in today. Andrew made his
first trip to Luskville Dragway in 2022 for Drag Week and the Bracket Bonanza
and quite frankly like the place very much, so made a return trip for the Fall
Super Tour Race. At that time he made it clear he would like to get more
involved, and would like to take a personal parking spot along with some
advertising dollars to help the track. This is very exciting for Luskville
Dragway and very much welcomed, as will the Stirk Family this season, it also
makes for some great bench
racing
of old times as Dave Stirk is always along side his son when he travels.
DSE Automotive Ltd is an independently owned &
operated automotive repair facility founded in 1979 by owner David Stirk. DSE
Automotive is located at 473034 County Road 11 in Orangeville and provides
complete automotive service and scheduled maintenance to passenger cars & light
trucks. I know that everyone along with myself welcomes the Stirk
Family to the Luskville Dragway Family. |
USA INVADES LUSKVILLE
DRAGWAY FOR THE BIG DOG THIS SEASON: JAN 16/23
Canada's Busters Bar Big Dog, is invaded by our American friends this week as we
leave our "Covid" summers behind us and welcome back some racers who have not
been here for quite a while.
Frank Mark who has been a mainstay of the Bracket Bonanza for as long as most
racers can remember has been away since 2020 when the pandemic hit. Frank is not
only a winner of a number of Big Dogs but is also a driver who has won the
Bracket Bonanza as much or more than anyone else. Of course where Frank Sr. goes
so does Frank Jr. who is also a winner of the Busters Big Dog race, and will try
and add to that as well in 2023. Frank Mark does not just bring a winning edge
to the event, he also brings a lot of excitement, as I think its safe to say Sr.
is very out spoken, and has many "Canucks" gunning for him in a fun way. Yes Fun
is one thing Frank is famous for, and I could write a book of stories on all of
those times. Joining our friend from New Jersey is Vermont's Robbie Martell who
was new to Luskville in 2022 but very quickly became part of the Luskville
Dragway family and along with his lady friend Julie MacDonald are a joy to have
at the track. Robbie also brings a winning way to the event as well bagging the
last big dollar race at Luskville in 2022. This dragster driver is someone to
watch and will bring a extra US challenge for this years Bonanza.
|
BITS
FROM THE PITS JAN 9/23 *I think it is safe to say that we
pride ourselves on very good traction at Luskville Dra gway
and Derek will be the first to tell you that the traction compound we use plays
a part in that. And with all the scares last year about a traction compound
shortage we where very lucky not to be affected thanks to our supplier. Well we
can tell you that our supplier has come through again this season and right now
we have 12 barrels in storage for 2023. It takes a lot of work to get the
traction that we have become known for and more importantly the consistency of
the traction as well, the scraping the cleaning, the dragging and the spraying
all play a part, but with out the compound it would all be for not, so we are in
good shape heading into the spring. We hope this sends a signal to the racers
that we are serious about great traction consistently each and every weekend, BE
THERE.
*Could be
something exciting added to the 2023 schedule as work in on going for the
possibility of
a HUGE car show at Luskville Dragway stay tuned as the work is on going.
*Don't
forget to mark the Bracket Life Brand Winter Rumble Practice Tree Competition on
your calendar for February, for more info contact Brandon or Rachel Barker.
* This
is a double heads up, Brandon & Rachel Barker are now the proud owners of a
winning semi pro car that if it does not sell, will make Luskville Dragway its
permanent home. The couple bought this car, enclosed trailer and Motorhome with
the hopes of keeping it locally, and with the hopes that someone would want to
get into the sport and semi pro racing. The car is a winning combination with a
number of wins and many round wins under its belt. If the car does not sell then
Brandon fully plans on racing it in semi pro, wonder if we can get a few more
super pro drivers to do this?? |
BUSTERS BAR AND GRILL CONTINUES AS OFFICIAL SPORTS BAR OF LUSKVILLE
DRAGWAY: JAN 9/23
One
of the things you will here said over and over again, is racers from
Luskville Dragway take their racing very seriously, but they also take their
having fun just as serious once the racing is over. And part of that fun
includes the great times we have had at Busters Bar & Grill, located at
their new location off the Hazeldean Rd at Eagleson. Whether its back to the
bar parties, drivers meetings, after hockey get together or the annual Winter Practice Tree
competition, Steve and Louise the owners of Busters go out of their way to
make sure everyone has a great time. A sports bar that has supported
Luskville Dragway for 11 years now, and also supported ADM Motorsports when
we ran the stock car track in Ottawa, Busters is a great supporter of
Motorsports too say the least. Next up is the Annual Drivers Meeting and membership
drive (April 9th) and event that we believe will be the biggest ever this year,
with all the excitement surrounding the up coming season, be there for sure. Yes
Busters is the place to be if you are part of the good times that Luskville
Dragway try's hard to bring about, and they play a big part in that. Busters
Bar and Grill besides holding title rights as the official sports bar, also
holds rights to the Busters Big Dog Shoot Out August 3rd. 2023, and the Busters Bar and Grill Cruise Night May
20th. Remember to support those that support us, and if your looking for a great
place for great atmosphere, great food and cold beer Busters is the place for
you. Just a reminder that Busters has live music every Friday night and
sometimes on Saturday nights. Don't forget to mark Drivers meeting, Practice
Tree Competition April 8th. |
MORE BIG DOG
JOIN THE PARTY FOR AUGUST 3RD. 2023. Jan 09.23
Dragsters take back to limelight this week as
2021 Track Champ and Super Tour Super Pro Champ has added his name to
the list for the Big Dog Shootout on August 3rd. 2023. Terry Miron who has
been a major force after buying
the Diamond Dragster that he currently
competes with and will be a factor in the 2023 Big Dog. Terry has been very
competitive since moving to the Diamond Chassis Dragster but still needs to add
the big dog to his list of accomplishments and hopes to do that this year.
Joining Terry with his second entree in the big dog is Luskville Dragway Driver
of the year Mike Chenier, this time around its his undercover supercharged
dragster that takes the spot. Chenier who is a major player both on and off the
track at Luskville Dragway is like Terry, has never won the big dog and "will be
looking" to change that this year. Joining this weeks fray into the the long
straight and narrow cars is Randy Bellefeuille and his Bonanza winning S&W car.
Not sure who will be doing the drving in the Big Dog as Randy's son Brody tries
to become the main driver after his big win in 2022. Our finally entree on the
dragster side this week is another double up, as Kyle Jessup will bring his
undercover car to the dragster side of the ladder for the big dog race. Kyle who
is also wheeling the ADM Motorsports Corvette will be one of many drivers who
will bring more than one car to the party. |
BITS
FROM THE PITS JAN 2/23 *Hope everyone had a great holiday and
a break from the racing news, but its time to get back at it and we have some
big dates to mark on your calendar right now. Mark February 4th on your Calendar
for the inaugural Bracket Life Brands Practice Tree Competition. More than one
big dollar pa yout
for top bulb and even some bottom bulb stuff as well being presented by Brandon
& Rachel Barker in Belleville. You can then mark April 8th on your reminder list

supporter of Luskville Dragway so we plan on turning his weekend into something
special.
*A couple of things
to get caught up on now that the new year is here. If you want your name and pic
on the Big Dog please let us know as we are now doing write ups on those that
plan on competing for the $10,000. Busters Big Dog Shootout and this years
Bracket Bonanza. Also if you want your parking spot from 2022 moved into 2023
please let us know (many have already), we are not taking payments until April
8th. just want to know if you want the same spot as we have plenty of people
looking for spots.
*Need all
super
pro drivers to mark June 17th on their calendar as NHRA will once again be at
Luskville Dragway to SFI cars. This is something that we have been a little
absent from, especially during the past few years with Covid affecting
everything that we do. However this is a very important aspect to our sport and
the safety of our cars. And yes I full understand that anyone can change
anything after the SFI is done, but it is crucial that we start with the basics
and that is if your car requires SFI certification then you need to have it
done. So please get your name on the list as we will have many cars needing to
be done so the line will be long. We will also be pushing for license for those
that require them in cars that are fast enough to require them.

KD TRANSMISSION BACK ON BOARD AND BIGGER
THAN EVER: JAN 02/23 We are extremely
pleased to welcome K-D Transmission of Belleville, Ontario back in 2023 to Luskville Dra gway
marketing family, and bigger than ever for his 3rd season with us.
This second generation business is owned by John Golka a second generation drag
racer, following in his fathers Don Golka's footsteps. Johnny is also following
in his fathers footsteps business wise, has he took over the daily operations of
the family Business located at 68 Dundas St. West in Belleville, Ontario. The
shop which has been in the Golka Family since 1965 has been around longer than
Luskville Dragway, but the family made Luskville Dragway part of their stops
when it opened in 1969. The younger Golka who started working at the shop in
2001, took over the day to day operations in 2014 and has not looked back since.
K-D Transmissions obviously specialize in Transmissions and are very i nvolved
with many of the local drag racers from the Belleville area. These however like
many business's these days have become very diversified with regular automotive
repair and detailing. This keeps the staff of 6 pretty busy and the shop has
been going strong.
The Golka's have a very diversified history in the drag
racing world as well, and were involved with one of Canada's premier drag racers
in the early years Dave Benn and his "Gentle Ben Ford Mustang Factory Race car.
Golka's could be seen at many tracks with Benn back
in
the day s, including Quinte Dragway (Mohawk) near their home town of Belleville
as well as Luskville Dragway, Cayuga and others.
So it was only natural that Father Don would take up the sport and then Johnny
himself would move behind the wheel of a drag car. Being a transmission specialist makes it just make sense that many
drag racers (and stock car guys) in the Belleville area would rely on K-D
Transmissions for the racing needs. The list of who uses their trans is very
large and contains many winning names of races and championships. Drivers like
Butch Douglas (Super Tour Champion) Brandon Barker (Many Time Big Dollar Winner)
and others which include Dale Gauthier, and the Al Ray Family. K-D does not just
do drag race transmissions as a number of stock car racers also rely on this
shop on Dundas Street in Belleville. Once again we remind everyone to support
those that support drag racing in our area. K-D Transmission became a new
advertiser in 2021, and will continue that support in 2023 and will once
again allow Luskville Dragway to crown a dragster champ and a door car champ
with both winning top title prize money. But new in 2023, KD will also take
the title rights to the Drag Week which features the Dave Rennie Autocare Little
Bonanza, the Bracket Bonanza as well as everything that goes on during the week.
This along with the support of others will allow us for the first time ever to
run for $10,000. to win super pro 6 times during those 9 days. It will also
allow us to pay $5000. to the winner of Semi Pro on the Saturday of the Bracket
Bonanza. This will make this race week the biggest payout event any where in
Canada and allow the Bracket Bonanza to keep the title of "the oldest" the
richest" "the best" Bracket Race in Canada. |
THE BIG DOG
WILL BE "VETTING" SOME NEW ENTREE'S IN 2023, WITH VETTE'S: JAN 02/23
As we head into yet another year, and head down
the hill to spring the big dog is heating up even if the weather outside is not.
There is a lot of excitement surrounding the new season and the race programs
that have been put forth in it, including the Busters Big Dog $10,000. Shootout.
The first name on the list will be doing so with a brand new ride for 2023,
Napierville Super Pro Points Champ Dan Lanctot wi ll take on all with his brand
new 1963 Suncoast Corvette Roadster, which is a beauty. Danny who is well known
for beautiful cars has once again done it with this new purchase, which happened
at the end of last year. The red beauty will have a number of other vets to take
on as Julie Dube will also be in the mix with her similar looking 1963 Roadster.
Also entering the Frey will be another red Vette but this one a newer style as
Tom Orr will bring his roadster to the gun fight loaded and ready to fire more
than one shot if needed. The final Corvette on the list this week is not a
roadster but it is a Vette that did more winning than any other last year, and
helped to propel Mike Chenier to 2022 Driver of the year. Yes Mike's multi
colored car which was painted by his lady friend Francine, will be one to watch
for, Mike showed that he can put a very fast door car in the winners circle and
will be trying hard to win his first ever Busters Big Dog Shootout. |
