COVER SHOT: MIKE CHENIER PICKED UP A BIG WIN IN THE BRACKET BONANZA WARM UP RACE
PIT BITS JULY 29/19
*
The big one is here, yes this coming weekend is the Bracket Bonanza a race that we all look forward to and enjoy. This is and was the first big dollar bracket race in this country when we started it way back in 1981 when we only paid $1000. to win in what was then called the Money" class. I still remember the cars being lined up out the upper gate and back down Tremblay Road, it was exciting, and I still get excited to this day when the Bracket Bonanza Rolls around. If you wish to park during the week and prior to Thursday you can make arrangements with us, but we have to be there. NO VEHICLES other than race cars and tow Vehicles in the pits, strictly enforced, don't ask for exceptions. Security will be in place around band stand area on Saturday Night so please adhere to the rules and the laws.

*This is a incredibly busy time for ADM Motorsports as we go back to back with big races right through until Sept 8th and the Lewis Gagne Racers Appreciation Weekend. We kicked it off in Elliot Lake, now the Dave Rennie Auto Care Bonanza Warm UP, Then the Bonanza, then off to Wawa for the Napa Tour, Back to Luskville for the 50th Celebrations and the Honeywell Works Wally Weekend, then back on the road to Chapleau, Back to Luskville For the Super, Then Lewis's Weekend and then we can breathe.

*Outlaw Cars where Out in Force for their July date and with a hot day and a sticky track the boys put on a great show. Mike Maxsom was the big winner this weekend, for his second International Dyno Authority Outlaw win of the season. Mike Gunn was slowly getting his sorted out, and ran the fastest time of the day in a second round win over Nich Van Riemsdyk  " The Blue Waffle. Once again this class is a very exciting class, and if we can ever get some more cars to get the numbers up it will be even better.

*Don't be surprised if you don't see a few new race cars in the area over the next little while, Lots of rumors running around about just that.
RENNIE AUTO CARE BONANZA WARM UP, SEE'S SOME HOT RACING: JULY 29.2019
Yes the weather was hot, but we are not complaining it can stay like this until November if it wants, no complaints here. And the weather was not the only thing that was hot as the on track racing was pretty heated as well, as the points chases headed into the second half of the season. Ashley Ogilvie headed into the day with a small lead over her Dad Mike and 7 time track champion Derek Malcolm in Super Pro. Darryl Jensen who has lead the points for a large part of the season in Semi Pro was at a disadvantage as he broke his race car motor in Elliot Lake the weekend before. Semi Pro was a good turnout with some new faces and the new faces did well. The semi finals would see Glen Cameron take on Steve Ballantyne who saw Steve take the win. It was another young gun with Dan Pillwien going up against Larry Whitty with the young blood once again taking the win. In the finals Ballantyne had the better light and there was no turning that back. Super Pro boiled down to Mike Chenier and Denis Souliere on one side of the Semi's and Russ Adams on the other side with a single. In the Semi's Souliere was off the line with an advantage but gave it back at the stripe for a win light for Mike Chenier. In the finals back luck bit Russ Adams as after the burnout the car would not go into reverse, and as everyone knows with out reverse there is not Trans Brake, which left Russ as a sitting duck. At the green he rolled through the beams handing the win to Mike Chenier. I would also like to point out that the three car left in competition at the semi final round, where 3 of the fastest cars at the track, ? .
So with the racing over some got their trailers in position for next week, and some got into partying with the Bracket Bonanza very much on everyone's mind. And it is very unique, as you can feel the excitement, you can hear the talk, this is our race, this is our big one and the feeling is in the air. I have to say that I am as excited about this coming weekend as I have ever been at anytime in my drag racing life. Lets get er on, and get er done, bring on Bracket Bonanza 2019.

Mike Maxsom has become the man

Our first airport venue is now in the books, and yes the weather man played a factor like he has almost every weekend this season, and where only half done. But now we need to focus our attention back on Luskville Dragway and two big weekends at home before we head back out on the road for another Northern Ontario Airport Event under the Napa Auto Parts Money Tour. This coming Saturday is the Dave Rennie Autocare Super Saturday Shootout for $1500. to win in Super Pro and $500. to win in Semi Pro, there is no racing Sunday as we get everything geared up for the following weekend August 1-2-3-4 and the Big One, The 38th Bracket Bonanza. This Saturdays race is also a qualifier for all semi pro for an even bigger payout Sept 7-8. Hopes are to have many teams leave their equipment parked this weekend so its in place for the following one which will see our track over run by race teams.

Some Special awards where also given out at the Elliot Lake event, as Mike Chenier and his beautiful undercover dragster was voted the J&S Collision Best Appearing car award. Elliot Lake event also had $5000. up for grabs for perfect lights in a winning run in eliminations. Jeremy Britten of White River was the first to pick up $500. and then it went on until the 5th. found where Kyle Jessup picked up $2000. as the pit increased each round by $500. The last winner was a young man from the North with a grey Chevette in Semi Pro, who picked up $500. had his name written down but the paper work got lost sorry.
20TH. ANNIVERSARY ELLIOT LAKE NAPA TOUR EVENT WEATHER REPORT: JULY 22/19
The one thing that has been a consistent all this racing season has been the bad weather, so as we headed down the road too Elliot Lake we had hopes that things would be different for the 20th Annual North Shore Challenge. Well it wasn't as once again everyone had to deal with the wrath of Mother Nature and the very unpredictable weather forecasts and outcomes. Driving in a forecast that called for rain, it was pleasant that they where wrong once again and all that greeted us was sunshine, that was Wednesday. After the gates opened up on Thursday, with cars backed up like no other time in 20 years sunshine turned into clouds and that was followed by a very heavy down pour and showers for most of the evening. But with out doubt it was the BIGGEST Thursday turnout ever, which gave the feeling we where in for something special, if mother nature cooperated. Friday dawned with fog, and a call for sun, cloud and showers, not hard to be wrong with that forecast is it, but once again they where lined up at the gate as the pits started to swell at the seams. Friday was a get acquainted day, with time trials and if things went well a gamblers race for all who where interested. And the weather man did cooperate on Friday, and that made a situation where time trials actually started early and that lead into to a gamblers race for all classes.
The winners in the gamblers races was Kyle Jessup over Troy Davis in Super Pro, Russ Fraser over Claude Trudel in Semi Pro, Eves Beaudry in Sled/Bike, Mike Kelly in Street and .  The weather was GREAT all Day but the forecast for Saturday was still unpredictable and we where all waiting for Saturday Morning to dawn to see what we would have in store., However that being said RECORD TURNOUT  of cars, lets hope record turnout of Fans for Saturday.
Well Saturday was not a disappointment, and other than a 15 minute delay for a brief shower, things where pretty good all around weather wise, but CARS, there was over 350 and that was a long day. But by 9 p.m. we had everything done including the show cars. So lets start with the Jrs. were. Street ET which was a $1000. king of the street shootout was won by Gregg Hall and his small block Chevy CORVAIR, yep CORVAIR. The Sled & Bike Class which was well represented with over 60 entree's was won by Ashley Spencer, over Amanda Taylor. Semi Pro which was the biggest entree with 120 cars boiled down to Mike Armstrong and Tom Trudel with the Black Monte Carlo taking the win and the 2500. that went with it.
Super Pro was also a well represented class with 68 cars coming to the line for the first round but when it all had boiled down it was two Luskville Dragway Regulars who would come to the lanes for the finals. Jamie Clarmo whittled his way through a huge door car field to take the finals over Doug Quinton to advance to the Super Pro Finals. On the dragster side of things Ashley Ogilvie was having one of her best days ever in a big car, as she wound her way through a very tough field to meet and beat Kyle Jessup in the Dragster side to advance to the Super Pro finals. In the Finals the crowd on the starting line was as big as we have seen, as the door car and the dragster went to the tree. At the flash of green both drivers left the starting line with nothing to gain for either side, but at the stripe it was Clarmo tripping the win light and taking home the 10,000. that went with this win . All was not lost for the Jessup camp either as his 4th round win with a perfect light would give him 2000. for the trip zip win. Jeremy Britton had also taking advantage of the bonus cash in the first round with a perfect light win and he got a bonus of $500. for his efforts. And then the show was closed with one of the best exhibition shows I have ever had the pleasure of doing, as Neil Armstrong and the Northern Warrior Jet Car and Rick Beam and the Fire Truck Wheel Stander blew the place apart with their showmanship.
SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY, weather was GREAT, and the racing was better, Eves Beaudry showed why he is one of the best sled racers out there as he whittled his way through a very tough field of 50 sleds and bikes to take his first big win of the summer. Semi Pro would see Ashley Muttart going up against Andre Roy of Wawa, with Ashley taking the win light and the $2500. that went with it. The Super Pro finals would see Dave Rennie make his way to the winner on the door side and last years Tour Champ, Brandon Barker would beat Derek Malcolm for the spot on the dragster side. IN the finals Brandon would have a slightly better reaction time, and that would give him the win light and the $10,000 that went with it.
So not much to say other than WOW, what a race we are all back and Luskville Dragway is ready to go again this weekend, with the Dave Rennie Bracket Warm up. 350 entree's, very little breakage, and very little down time, a exhibition show that was second to none.
foot note: Jr. Dragster winner Sunday was Rebecca Weldwood as well as the Street Shootout winner on Sunday was young lady from Southern Ontario, lost her name sorry.

First thing this week is once again we will be closed this coming weekend, as the staff will all be in Elliott Lake for our 1st. Napa Auto Parts Show Me the Money Tour Race, July 19-20-21. A decision was made a year ago that we would know longer try and keep Luskville Dragway open when we are doing our airport races that are generally a long ways away, and it was just to hard to micro manage Luskville Dragway from there. We understand that this might upset some but we totally feel that it is the best thing for the overall picture. We will be back open on July 27th. with a full Saturday Program, Bonus Bucks, Outlaw Cars, and A Cruise Night.

*This just in as we go to press so to speak, Semi Pro and Sleds and Bikes will run for an increased purse at the 20th. annual Elliott Lake , Bruno's Automotive, Napa Auto Parts, Napa Auto Pro North Shore Challenge. Proof the promoters do listen, but cant always do what everyone wants, as the Semi Pro drivers will now race for $2500. to win both Saturday and Sunday, and the sleds and bikes will race for a increase of $250. for first place each day. THIS along with the ability to win up too $5000. with a perfect light makes this event one of a kind, and a must event to take in.

*As we spoke about briefly on our Facebook page, more improvements will greet all when they return on July 27th, as we have been very busy getting things done as we head towards the Bracket Bonanza. And yes we know there will be those that will say they should have done this and should have done that instead of what we did do, but that is just normal, but what is done is paid for and plans on future work and changes are underway. There is also a very old saying that goes something like this, if you want "Rock & Roll" you hire the band. We can also tell you that a change that was discussed at a meeting last year concerning the support of the Canteen will be implemented in 2020, as even though the initial response was encouraging it did not take long for that too wane. We will do what ever it takes to make Luskville Dragway survive and grow, and we THANK those that support what we do, we hope that most approve of the new improvements, keep in mind there are more to come. We will be having a drivers meeting July 27th at 12:00 pm to discuss some of the changes as well as some items concerning the Bracket Bonanza.

ANOTHER FORMER RACER GETS READY TO RETURN TO LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY: JULY 15/19
We have been hinting about the return of another veteran, former Luskville Dragway Racer, and we can now let everyone know that Glen Cameron (Canadian Tire Chevelle) will make his return to the sport at the Dave Rennie Auto Car $500 to win Semi Pro event July 27th. Glen was a mainstay at the track for years, but took a sabbatical from the actual racing a number of years ago, because of a job switch at work. Glen was very competitive in the days when he did race, and is someone who has kept up to date on where the sport and the track is these days. Glen comes from the days that was with out social media and chat groups and is a very loyal Luskville Dragway supporter, and has been coming as a spectator when ever time would allow. As you can tell by this picture Glen has been around a long time, this comes from the early 80's when the car was still street driven. The car has been given the once over, new tires have been ordered and Glen plans on competing the rest of the 2019 Season with a run at the points title in 2020. We all welcome Glen back and know he will be a welcome addition to the Semi Pro class, which has more good news to come as well, stay tuned. This is another great sign, not just for the Semi Pro Class, but for the sport and Luskville Dragway in particular. We have seen a number of former racers return to the sport which proves the old saying that once you get
ELLIOT LAKE HERE WE COME, THE NAPA AUTO PARTS KICKS OFF THE 2019 SEASON: JULY 15/19
For 20 years now we have been making the same call, "next week we are off to Elliott Lake" and that is the call that comes out this week, as we load er up and hit the road for our first Northern Race of the 2019 Season. This year is very exciting as we head too Elliott Lake for the 20th year in a row, yes its special, its very special and its going to be very special for all who attend. This is very much considered the VERY BEST of all airport races, attracting more cars than any other event in the country. Paying bigger prize money than any venue in the country, and of course this year celebrating TWENTY YEARS of doing so. The event is more than just a drag race, as the entire community gets behind this annual affair, with welcome signs every where as you enter town. The race will start on Friday with a free test and tune, and gamblers races in all class's Friday evening, wrapping up with a Jet Car Pass by the Northern Warrior. There will be a drivers meeting that is mandatory for ALL to attend on Friday prior to the beginning of the event, so we can remind everyone of certain rules and regulations. We have been assured we will have Wi-Fi access, for live ladders and will be doing some of the class's from the start and most at one point or another, this is a very large improvement for 2019. The race will also have a full slate of show cars, with jets, and wheel standers front and center, as well as live music on Saturday night, and play land for kids and much much more. Gates open at 3:00 Pm on Thursday, DO NOT LINE UP ON THE HIGHWAY. Time Trials will get underway at noon on Friday, right after the drivers meeting, gamblers races will take place latter in the day, as per announcements.

We are half way through the season, and if the points stays the same as it is right now we would have THREE new Champions in 2019, However there is still 11 races to go and as we all know anything can happen. Super Pro right now is a 3 way battle with Ashley Ogilvie leading her Dad Mike Ogilvie and last years track champ Derek Malcolm by only a few rounds. Semi Pro is another tight battle with Russ Fraser heading into the second half as the points leader, with Darryl Jensen and Eric Monaghan from Quebec City tight on his heels. Ryan Clarmo has a commanding lead in the Jr. Class, but here two with a number of big weekends which should bring out more jrs. round wins will be crucial. It will be a very interesting end to the season as the points battles look like they will be the best we have had for a number of years.

*One of the nicest pic's we saw over the Canada Day weekend was that of the Angers Bros. Super Pro Roadster as it made its return début at the Big Race in Martin Michigan. As many will remember the car was damaged badly in a freak accident last year at I-Car when other brother Luc Anger hit the guard wall, hard and damaged what was at that time a very beautiful car. Well thanks to some hard work and lots of money the car looks even better now than it did , if that is possible.

*With no points racing taking place at Luskville Dragway until the Dave Rennie Auto Care Super Saturday July 27th, we thought we would come back with a bang and some higher than usual payouts. Super Pro will run for 1500. and Semi Pro will run for 500.00 to win, also giving us a look at the future MAYBE. We will have a flyer out in a week or so, but mark it down, and don't forget we recommend you park and leave your trailer for the Bonanza giving you a upper hand come the big one August 2-3-4. This race will also qualify everyone for another big semi pro payout weekend Sept 7-8 ($1000. to win) so don't miss any of the action. There are some new/old faces about to show up in Semi Pro that should shake the class up big time, so stay tuned as we release all the info over the weeks ahead.

*Look for a former Luskville Dragway Semi Pro Racer to return too the wars just in time for the $500. to win Dave Rennie Autocare Super Saturday $500. to win Day. This is a racer who was a big time supporter of Luskville Dragway and a big supporter of Semi Pro, it wont take him long to get back in the swing of things as this was a driver that was pretty successful in his early days at Luskville Dragway. This is a guy who is very loyal to Luskville Dragway and the programs it has put forth over the years and will be a welcomed addition to the Semi Pro Field. Rumor has it there are few other big stories for this class to come down the tubes also.
THE 20TH. ANNUAL ELLIOT LAKE DRAG RACE WILL BE OUT OF THIS WORLD: JULY 8/19
Well now, we have been waiting for this to roll around all year, and its now only a couple of weeks away as we all get ready for our first Napa Auto Parts Money Tour Event at Elliot Lake, Ontario. This season will mark the 20th year for this event which has held the distinction of being the most successful airport event of all time, and lasting 20 years pretty much tells you that. It was at the end of 1998 that I made my first trip ever to Elliot Lake to meet with the local car club which wanted to do what we had been doing at a number of airports, Put on a drag race. Some of the individuals that we met with back then are still very much involved to this day, and are a big part in the reason the race will celebrate 20 years on July 19-20-21. People like William Elliot, Jack Bardjett, Bruno and Lorraine Serre, just to name a few are, and have been the back bone of keeping this event alive and growing. And to celebrate 20 years the race will pay $20,000. over to days to the Super Pro Winner, $2000. to the winners of Semi Pro, and the potential to win $5000. for a perfect lite in the finals of a race day. Two jet dragsters and the worlds best wheel stander will also be part of what is sure to be a HUGE weekend of entertainment.
And the Luskville Dragway Locals will be out in force, as many are travelling to the north for the very first time. Already committed to the trip are Darryl Jensen, Russ Fraser, Albert Jerome, Patrick Alaire, Randy Bellefeuille, Mike Chenier, Carl Soucy, Gary Smith, Mike, Vicki, Ashley, Rachel Ogilvie, Kyle and Carl Jessup, Derek Malcolm, Troy Davis, Roch Beaudion, Dave & Pam Rennie. So as you can see many have chosen to be part of a little piece of Canadian Drag Racing History as we celebrate 20 Years at Elliot Lake. So if you are someone locally that we missed and your going lets us know, but for sure this is a race not to miss.
LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY RACERS ALL TOGETHER, BUT NOT AT THE TRACK FOR A CHANGE: JULY 8/19
Its not unusual for all of us racing people to be together on a Saturday in July, but what is unusual is that this time around it was not at Luskville Dragway, as we all gathered to celebrate one of our own getting married. Long time Luskville Dragway Racer, supporter, team member, helper, contractor you name it you could pretty much tag Kyle Jessup with those titles. So with the Drag Strip completely closed up most everyone was attending Kyle and Megan's wedding in White Lake and then the party at the Armories in Renfrew, I venue that I had not been to since the days of playing music in a band, which was many years ago. Not very often would you see this many of the Luskville Dragway race teams gathered a function other than maybe the season ending awards banquet, so yes it was a special day all around. Many of the racers brought their motorhomes and parked in the fair grounds that the armories sits on, so yes there was a few if not many parties going on until all hours of the Morning. I'm sure everyone that is involved with Luskville Dragway joins me wishing Kyle and Megan the very best as they venture into a new part of their life.
PIT BITS JULY 1/19
*
Just a quick reminder that Luskville Dragway is CLOSED the weekend of July 6-7, Saturday is a family wedding and Sunday is the car show at Ogilvie Auto & Fleet. So don't think for a moment that we have the weekend off as it will be as busy or more busy than a weekend at the drags. Hope all will take in the Ogilvie Car Show, Mike and Vicki stepped up when the Merrickville show was cancelled and have tried to continue it with their first one last summer. You hear us saying all the time support it or loose it, another perfect example to help keep great outdoor car shows going. WE will be back open on July 13 for Time Trials and Cruise Night, but once again close on July 20th weekend for the Napa Auto Parts Tour Race in Elliott Lake.

*Joe Doyle called me this week to say his retirement is official as the wagon and trailer have been sold to Orleans native Pat Faubert, who owns a small garage in Orleans. This brings to an end a relationship with the Doyle Boys and Luskville Dragway that goes back Decades. Mike, who passed a way a year ago, and Joe where a large part of the track, and promoted it every chance they got, I have so many stories to tell about these two fine gentleman who will both be missed for ever as racers and supporters of Luskville Dragway. Joe made it very clear he will be out for some of big weekends to cheer his friends on, Thank you for being a big part of our Track Joe. And yes the new owners plan on racing, they will try and get their feet wet this summer at some point probably later on in the season, and then look at points chase's next season. It would obviously be nice to have the wagon at Luskville on August 17, as like many of the cars from the seventies this car and its driver will always have a spot in Luskville Dragway's history.

*A cooperate, and common sense decision has been made to move the July 13th, Outlaw Race to another date, as it makes much more sense to have these guys at the track on race days, not time trial weekends. So the July 13th race will be moved to Saturday August 31st. as part of the Napa Money Tour. This will once again allow these outlaw cars to have the best traction we can give them.

*Another Canadian Drag Strip will no longer be in action, as was pointed out to me this week by someone who visited PEI. Oyster Bed Dragway one of only a few drag strips in the East Coast, is no longer running drag races. The drag strip which was completely repaved what seems like not that long ago sits on a parcel of land with a short track stock car track, which at this time is still open. The track was purchased this spring and will be turned into a complete campground, at this time the stock track which was just over the hill at the end of the drag strip will continue to operate. The track was built in 1971 has been under the direction of Kevin Power and Bruce Matheson for the past few decades and seemed to being doing well. The property was purchased by people who are in the Motel and cottages business and will make it into a full fledged campground.
WEATHER MAN ONCE AGAIN HAS A SAY IN OUR WEEKEND OF DRAG RACING: JULY 1/2019
When this year is all over and everything is said and done, one thing is going to be at the top of everyone's comments, WEATHER. and in particular the amount of rain that we have had to endure this season. And once again the weather played havoc on Luskville Dragway as we got ready to host the July 1st. Race Weekend. Its not just the rain on race day that causes havoc, when it rains everyday all week it makes the grounds much more like a swamp than a race track, and this season it seems to have rained everyday. Friday started out pretty dry as motorhomes started to roll in, and the grounds were in decent shape, but by 2 pm another major storm rolled through dumping tons of rain on the facility once again. But drag racers are a optimist bunch and most where saying OK lets hope that's it for the weekend. The drying process started very quickly Saturday morning with plenty of help from all, and by 10 am time trials where underway. The weather man cooperated very well for the full day as things moved along very fast. Parker Sequin a young lad from North Bay made his way to Luskville Dragway for the first time ever, and also made his way to the winners circle for the first time ever. The big news was Semi Pro where Jason Laporte another North Bay native made his way to the winners circle and picked up the $1000. first place prize money. In the finals Jason competitor was Dan Pillwien who had been slaying the tree all day, but in the finals it was Laporte with the best light and the win. Super Pro was a all dragster final with Derek Malcolm and Mike Ogilvie coming to the line, here Malcolm cut the better light but it was "Magic Mike" at the finish line with the one that counts, The win light. Then things switched over to the Semi Pro and Super Pro High Roller where Gord Harling another Northern Ontario driver was the big winner as once again Dan Pillwien had to settle for the bridesmaid spot. The Super Pro High Roller filled very fast and was a 1600. to win pot that Chris Dennique would proudly take home, with his first big win of the season. After the regular racing it was nice to see Landyn Urslak making some test shots it Dad's big car, as Landyn is chomping at the bit to get behind the wheel of a race car once again, after leaving the Jr. Dragster Class as a Champion. But with what has been the norm this year, it is hard to get through a day with out rain, let alone a weekend, and by 6 pm another thunder cell with lots of rain came through putting a damper on the cruise night that was scheduled to take place.
And the showers continued off and on right into early morning, but most went down the mountain once the sun came out and warmed things up, and I say that with a smile as the temperature had dropped big time from Saturday. Time trials got underway ahead of schedule which is always good, and with the good air and the great track most ran their quickest runs ever. The Jr. Dragster Final was Trevor Monaghan beating points leader Ryan Clarmo for the win and the wally. Semi Pro was the Gord Harling Show for the most part as he whittled his way to the finals for the second time in one weekend. In the finals it was Gord with the win as Pete Demers was red on the tree giving Gord a small win Saturday and a big win Sunday.
Because it was Semi Pro weekend we also ran another high roller race for this class and the person taking home 800.00 was
Super Pro was the Mike Ogilvie Show once again as he made his way down too the Semi Finals where he would once again meet Derek Malcolm who he beat on Saturday in the finals. This time around though Derek got revenge with a better light and the win to the finals where he would meet Randy Urslak who put Mike Chenier out in the other semi finals. In the Finals it was Malcolm with the better light and the win light as well backing up his second place win on Saturday, for Randy it was his first trip to the finals this season, but don't think it will be his last. Special thank you to all those that came, and to the companies that supported the Weekend, Aylmer Performance Auto, Snap On Tools (Steve Nadeau) Fireball Performance.
