COVER: THE
SUPER TOUR FALL BRACKET NATIONALS HEADS INTO LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY THIS WEEKEND |
BITS AUG 29/2022 *ADM Motorsports did not take long to put
driver Troy Davis back in a car before the season was over. Davis will début the
teams new roadster this coming weekend at the Luskville Drag way
Super Tour Fall Bracket Nationals. The car was part of the many nice cars that
was at Grand Bend last weekend and a deal was struck to have the car move to our
area. Troy who drove the first 63 Corvette Roadster we had as well as a few
stints in the 2010 Vette Roadster has lots of experience driving on the door
side. This in no means is an indication of the team stepping back to a single
dragster, as the hunt is still on for a dragster to replace the Blue Chrome Worx
American that was sold to Albert and Mark Guillmette of Chapleau, Ontario. The
34 Chevy roadster is a full chrome moly chassis with ford nine inch, big block
and glide and other than not having any yellow on it "Yet" it is very nice car
that works incredibly well. Troy will finish the year with this car as the hunt
for a new dragster continues.
*The Su per
Tour will roll into Luskville Dragway this coming weekend with gates officially
opening on Thursday at noon for parking and pitting, this also includes the camp
grounds. Time Trials will start on Friday at 3 pm with the gamblers eliminations
at 6.00 followed by the Ladies Golf Cart Race, no coaching by the guys LOL.
Saturday time trials start at 9 am with two shots and then into eliminations,
Angers Fun Time to follow. Sunday will be posted Saturday dependent on
temperatures as we would like to start at 8 am. to get everyone out early.
Please understand that these are approximate and could change slightly dependent
on Fall Temps, this time of year is not like the middle of the summer. And in
case your wondering we have lots of GLUE. there will be a special announcement
concerning the 5th and final Super Tour event and where it is going to be held
at the Luskville Dragway Weekend.
*If
you have
been
part of the Super Tour or any of those races at Luskville Dragway you probably
noticed the absence of BP Racing Team Dragsters of Jerome Beaulieu and Kevin
Portaris. Well there is a good reason for that as both of these team mates have
been waiting for their new cars to be finished, and that has happened. Jerome
picked up his brand new American and quickly added some lettering that he
brought with him and headed to a drag race close by. Kevin will have one of a
very few Brand New Chrome Worx Ultra Cars and this thing is state of the art and
all the new rage. John Parks who built two cars for ADM Motorsports on using
American Chassis's is now building his very own car and it is "TRICK". Most of
us are
very
very anxious to see what this new car looks like and should get a chance before
season is over. Jay who is the marketing manager for the tour, and Kevin who has
been supplying the bacon for the Saturday Night Parties have been part of the
Tour since its conception almost a decade ago. Jay of course comes from a racing
family as his Dad was a well known name in the drag racing world in Quebec and
Ontario, with a number of race cars including some very fast supercharged stuff.
Jerome and Kevin are a very big part of the Super Tour and now that they have
two new wipes look for them to be in the winners circle as well.
*It was
suppose to be a regular test and tune Saturday with a cruise night to follow,
but it was anything but that as a out of
town gun slinger came to town and BLEW the track street car record, and the
track sport compact numbers out of the water. Heading into the weekend i started
to get these messages from this young man from Huntsville who wanted to come and
try out our track, said he had a very fast car, "but you have to understand I
have heard that a 1000 times only to have it never materialize. WELL this time
it did as Paul Garth drove his Audi 4 hours from Huntsville to Luskville
Dragway, and actually drove it to the Casino on Friday Night grabbed a motel
room and showed up just like he said he would on Saturday Moring. After a brief
discussion and a 15 minute unloading of his car, (gas cans, slicks, coolers) he
proceeded to make an easy pass as I had suggested. It was easy to see this guy
was not bull shitting and he was going to lay down some good
numbers.
Well not only did he set his personal best, but he also set not only the track
record for a street driven car, but a record for the fastest sport compact ever.
Paul had done his research and as I already knew, Luskville Dragway is only
about 150 feet above see level, and what does that mean, PERFECT AIR. So the
8.87 at over 160 miles and hour was laid down at 5 p.m. on Saturday afternoon,
and will certainly stir the pot to say the least. How many times have you heard
"oh Luskville is Short" well Paul proved them all wrong. I know exactly how long
or short however you want to look at it Luskville Dragway's shut down is and how
many very fast runs have been laid down there. So to say this was the shot that
was heard around the world would be over stating it, but to say it was a shot
heard all around the street scene and the drag racing community would be a safe
say. Paul has indicated he will return on Sept 17 for the Ratchet Customs, BOTV,
TNT Cruise Night and if he does look for fireworks.
*Yes
we know the season is not over, but we are already working on 2023, schedule
wise, sponsorships and MORE major improvements. We hope our supporters will join
us once again as we will be working hard to make Luskville Dragway even better
than it is right now, and once again all we ask is that you support us. We
want to remind everyone as well that we will be going back to the Hotel at
the airport for our awards banquet this fall, so make plans for Nov 12th for
what should be a great party. |
BITS AUG 22 /2022
*We reported on here a while back, beginning of summer of how
the Acker Bros Racing team and the misfortune of crashing their Super Tour Super
Pro Points Championship car at Napierville Dragway. Well we are very pleased to
bring you some great news as Brian and Barry have not stopped working since the
incident at getting back on track. This picture shows crew chief Barry under the
car, "legs crossed" working hard on the car that is nearing completion. Brian
has continued to be at the track most weekends with fellow racer and long time
friend Joel Morgan and his crewing has not gone unnoticed as Joel has picked up
a win, and has kept himself in the points hunt at Luskville Dragway. The Ackers
Bros Racing is also very much involved with Luskville Dragway and their support
of the Jr. Dragster Program giving the winner of the Acker Bros Quick Draw Award
$50. dollars cash each and every race day for the best reaction time in the
first round.
*Yes it is still two weeks
away but the Fall Bracket Nationals Super Tour Event is fast approa ching
and its set to be a barn burner, as we get closer and closer to crowning the
champions. As of right now we do not know if or where there will be a Fifth and
final tour race but will announce at the Fall Bracket Nationals. The Fall race
is the little brother to the Bracket Bonanza and over the years has come close
to competing in numbers with the Big One. This year is no different as things
start too unfold, for example the jr. Dragster purse is now $800. to win each
day thanks to a lot of individual people who put up money to add to the Jr. Pot
for both Saturday and Sunday.
*Yes
we were gone most of last week, but that did not stop the work at Luskville
Dragway as we continued with the improvements which includes the widening and
repaving of a large section of the old return road that is used by many. There
was also some more work done on parking areas and water drainage to make sure
that the pit area is in tip top shape when the Fall Bracket Nationals roll
around in a week. This is just a continuation of our promise to those that call
Luskville Dragway their home track, we will continue to keep improving we just
ask that you keep supporting it. Look for another MAJOR announcement about next
years main improvement. |
GRAND BEND OR
BUST, OUR FIRST RACE TRIP IN MANY YEARS: AUG 22/22
It was probably near the end of the 90's since we raced at
a race that we were not running, but here we are at Grand Bend for the 660
Sportsman Nationals southern Ontario's biggest bracket race. We where here to
show our support to Can adian
Big Dollar Bracket Racing, and hoping that many more southern Ontario teams
would do the same our way in the future. Many others had followed as well and
Luskville Dragway/Super Tour was going to be well represented at this event for
sure. I want to be very clear that this report is more of a update on how our
racers did than a coverage of the event. So please do not be upset if we miss
some winners as we don't have any access to winners list or such, just what we
are observing. After a LONG and mostly uneventful trip down on Wednesday night,
we parked the rigs beside Terry Miron and Lewis Gagne but many of our regulars
where close by. The list of who was here from Luskville and the Super Tour was
VERY, VERY Long. So when things got underway you have to know we where hoping
for some Lu skville
Dragway colors to show up in the event, and show up they did as Super Pro would
see Brody Bellefeuille go to the starting line with another Luskville Dragway
regular Brandon Barker. Barker would do what he has done very well this summer,
turn on another win light and take home the big check. Andrew Strick would
take the no box class and earn the right to try and hold onto the $500. he and
his dad had put up for the run off between the winners of top and bottom bulb.
Barker would have no part of it as he would once again turn on the win light and
take home the bonus money. Friday was another stellar weather day as things
got underway at 9 am with Semi Pro and then on to Jrs. and Super Pro, this would
be the first day for jrs. and even here Cole Krottner and Logan Gagne would
carry the Luskville Dragway colors. Logan and Cole would both compete in the
regular show plus the two Gamblers Races but would not make their way to the
winners circle. With no Semi Pro Racers from home the only other class that
there was Luskville Dragway racers in was Super Pro. In this class there was
lots of racing but Friday would not see any get to the winners circle, a number
had good showings and went a number of rounds but did not seal the deal. However
Kyle Jessup did go more rounds than anyone on Friday and would wind up as the
runner up in Super Pro, making Luskville cars continue to dominate. The
Big races where the High Rollers and Mike Newman, someone who runs Luskville a
few times each year was the winner of the $500 entree one. In the Big one,
$2000. to enter we had four of our racers entered but here also no one would get
to the finals. That would boil down to Andrew Stirk and Sarah Zonta with the
young lady taking the win. So now on too Saturday and with the forecast for
Sunday not looking good the feeling was this could be our last day of racing in
Southern Ontario. Saturday was to be the big day as the forecast for Sunday
Sucked, so purse was doubled up and it was into racing we would go. Our Jr. Team
of Cole and Logan went a few rounds but then where eliminated including Logan
breaking his motor on his Bye run. The Big cars was going to be a different
story and Saturday would be a Luskville Dragway day, and a dream day for me
personally. The day was dogged by some bad oil downs, and a long rain delay
which put the finals well into the late hours of the evening. Russ Adams, Kyle
Jessup, and Terry Miron would be the semi finalists in the top dragster class
which was basically a high roller for any dragster who
wanted
to enter, but the Luskville Dragway cars ruled and Russ would prevail and
be the winner over Terry in the Finals, Kyle Jessup would once again do well as
he wheeled Mike Ogilvie's Dragster to 3rd in Top Dragster. The Big one which was now $15000.00 to
win would once again have a large Luskville Dragway presence with Derek Malcolm
and Roch Beaudion facing off in the semi finals with Derek going trip zip and
moving on to the finals with a local dragster racer. Malcolm who finally had got
hold of the starting line and how this very much different timing system than
ours worked and was killing the tree on every run. In the Finals a RED light
would seal the deal for Derek as his competitor moved first and moved Derek to
the Winners Circle for his biggest win of the Season and a much deserved one.
Our Home track and the super tour was well represented as you can see by the
size of the winners circle pictures and they all stood very tall as when the
final rounds where happening there was many cars from our group. Don't think I
have every been much prouder of the group who trucked 7-9 hours to Grand Bend to
show that those that race at Luskville Dragway and on the Super Tour can compete
with anyone, Congratulation's to all, |
PIT
BITS AUG 15/2022 *Its a couple weeks old now and most will
already know, but ADM Motorsports has sold the Chrome Worx American Dragster
that Troy Davis drove for the team since 2013. Race Cars become a member of your
family, just ask anyone that has ever owned one, so its not an easy
decision to sell one. No this is not the end to Troy Drag Racing or driving for
ADM, we just decided that the offer was too good to say no too, and we had also
decided it was time to look for another newer car for both Derek and Troy. So
the search is on for a new Dragster and we will find one, and we may even find
something to replace the blue car with for the rest of the year until we find a
new dragster. For now Troy will continue to be a important part of ADM and also
spend time helping step daughter Katie with the Jr. Dragster. The Blue car was a
good car and we are sure that Albert and Mark Giullmette of Chapleau, Ontario
will continue to give it a good home.
*With this weekend behind us the
next big race at Luskville Dragway is the long weekend in Sept, but its not the
next big weekend for Many Luskville Dragway racers. Many of the teams that call
Luskville Dragway home including many of the Jr. Dragster Teams will be packing
up and heading down the 401 to Grand Bend Motorplex and the 660 Sports nationals
Bracket Race. The teams will include the ADM Motorsports Crew, Ogilvie
Motorsports, Bracket Life Brand Race Team, Dave and Pam Rennie just to name a
few. Fro the ADM Crew this will be a first of sorts as we will have no part in
how the event is put together, run, or any aspect of the clean up stuff, so a
little different. That's not to say we would lend a hand if a clean up needed to
be done LOL. This will also be the first time that a few Jr. Dragsters will have
ever raced any where but Luskville Dragway and some of them are looking forward
to it very much. We will be there and will give a full and long report.
*We started a program a week ago to try and get the Jr. Dragster Purse up to
$1000. to win each day for the Fall Bracket Nationals and we are getting close.
And the list of supporters continues to grow and as of right now we are at 800.
to win each day and on our way to $1000. It all started with a spectator kicking
in $100 which was joined by Arnie Malcolm, Mickey Renaud, Shawn Belanger, Patrick
Alarie, Heather and Ted Poirier, and
Lise Morrisette.
*Mike
Chenier was the big winner in Super Pro on Saturday, but it wasn't all fun and
games as the Venom driver broke the rear end in his dragster during time trials.
So that meant no much time to celebrate the win as Mike and friends went to town
changing the rear in the undercover car so it would be ready for Sunday and the
$5000. pot at the end of the rainbow. When the track is as good as it is there
is bound to be carnage and we have seen many broken input shafts and other wink
links in the race cars this summer. The team did get the car back together late
at night with help from a number of other race teams. |
HONEYWELL
WORKS WALLY WEEKEND A HUGE SUCCESS FROM WEATHER TO RACING: AUG 15/22
There is no question that the weather man plays a
big part in the success of any outdoor activity, but none more than drag racing,
and this weekend we where blessed with some incredible weather. From the time
cars started rolling in until the last one went down the track it was plenty of
sunshine and hot temperatures. And it was not just the weather that was hot, as
the on track action was just as hot and in
particular for some drivers who added
to the bank account, as well as the points sheets. The Jr. Dragster Class on
Saturday was the taking of Shelbie Sequin who met and defeated Maverick Anger
from Laval, Quebec. The Semi Pro Class which has been a battle all season for
the points lead, stirred things up again today, as Larry Lepine took out Stephan
Pichette in the finals for the $1000. first place prize money. Something
different happened in Super Pro as two door cars met in the finals. Dave Rennie
who has been on a tear this season took his double entered Vega to the Super Pro
finals again Mike Chenier and his "Venom" Corvette. The winner here would come
back to meet the Semi Pro Winner for the HoneyWell Works King of the Track
Championship. And that person would be Mike Chenier who would win the Super Pro
final over Dave and then come back to defeat Lepine in the run off for the Title
of King of the track. Saturday Night would once again see a cruise night take
over the track and this one was better than the week before, so we are headed in
the right direction.

Jr. Winner Shelbie Sequin |

Semi Pro Winner Larry Lepine |

King of the track 2022 Mike Chenier |
Sunday would turn out to be another stellar day and the
racing was stellar as well, as time trials
got underway right on time at 10am. Heading into the finals of Jr. Dragster it
would be young Maverick Angers once again in one lane and Lea Monagham in the
other, this time Angers would
seal the deal and take the win light. Semi Pro was once again a hard fought
battle with the winner being Larry Lepine and his drag bike once again being the
victor, this time over Stephan Ballantyne the Aylmer Auto Performance Points
leader. Nostalgia would see Marcel "Boomer" Dubois take the win over Russ Fraser
and his 65 Mustang. Super Pro was a good field of cars and this time it would
boil down to a door car and a dragster in the final, but once again the door car
would prevail as Darren Frasso would claim the $5000. and the wally for his
victory over Ashley Ogilvie. Now its two weeks off for the track with only time
trials and street cars for the next two Saturdays. A big shout out to Paulo and
Shannon Giust the owners of Honeywell Works for thier support of Luskville
Dragway and who make this weekend poissible. |
SECOND ANNUAL
STABLE RESTAURANT CAR SHOW IN THE BOOKS: AUG 8/22
Jamie and Sherri Clarmo are incredible supporters of
Luskville Dragway so when we ca n
be involved with them it makes us feel pretty good. And last years car show,
cruise in at their Metcalfe, Ontario Restaurant was a huge success even though
the weather man was not completely good to us. This year the show was held on
the same weekend after the Bonanza Weekend and once again a great turnout of cars was present to show
their support for the Clarmo's, not as good as 2021 BUT. Once again here
it was evident that now that everything is wide open everyone has to work harder
and get people to be part of things, as there is just so much to choose from now
that Covid is behind us. That being said the quality of cars was incredible, and
Car Show Guru Larry Way who was present said he will get more involved next
year. For two years not much was going on and for Luskville Dragway in
particular and you could see it at Jamie's car show today, where we had to
compete with the Car Show in Verona, and the car show in Aylmer. So there is no
question now is when we need everyone's support more than ever, remember when
everyone else was closed we did not, we kept it going so please support those
that support you. |
PIT
BITS AUG 1/2022 *Things don't slow much as we move on from
our biggest weekend of the season, the 41st annual Bracket Bonanza and our first
ever Drag Week. Next up is a cruise night at the track and then the 2nd Clarmo
Auto Car Show at the Stable Restaurant in Metcalfe. I would also like to remind
everyone and point out to all others that we have some of our 2023 schedule
already done, we are always the first to do so and this season is no different.
*Just a reminder that the $5000.
Super Pro Race that was rained out on the Sunday of Drag Week will be run on the
Sunday of the Honeywell Works Wally Weekend. This also means that drivers will
have a shot at $2500. on Saturday & A Wally, as well as $5000. on Sunday and a
Wally. And yes new entree's will be excepted, so if you where not part of the
first shot at this event you can be at the second one.
*Another
tradition that happens every year at the Bonanza is Ralph Coe the owner of
Trillium Pavemark comes in and paints everything on the pavement at Luskville
Dragway and this Year was no different.
*Kevin Portaris was excited about
winning the burnout contest, but was also excited to show the rendering of his
brand new Ultra Car from the folks at Chrome Works.

RALPH MAKES IT PRETTY |
*Drag Week was more than just
Drag Racing as a number of activities took place through out the week including
"Burgers and Beer" on Sunday, Mountain Climbing on Monday, Race Car Repair on
Tuesday, Golf Tournament and Spa on Wednesday and THEN RACING. They say a
picture is worth a 1000 words so here they are. As we work towards 2023 plans
are already underway for bigger and better things so stay tuned.

BURGERS & BEER |

MOUNTAIN CLIMBING |

GOLF TOURNAMENT |
*There a re
so many stories surrounding this past weekends Bracket Bonanza that I know we
will miss something and we apologize for that in advance. With in the drag week
racing there was also a week long points series that Kyle Jessup and Brandon
Barker had put together along with support from Pro One Safety, Precision
Concrete, and Bracket Life Brand and the winner was STEPHEN BALLANTYNE. Steve
was not the only winner as the top five all got money and or awards including
Russ Fraser, Larry Lepine, Mike Chenier, Randy Bellefeuille. This was a cool
deal and made for some interesting times during eliminations.

THE 41ST.
ANNUAL BRACKET BONANZA REPORT CARD AUGUST 1/2022
So where do we start , well we start at the
beginning and the larger turnout of cars and race teams that stayed over for
drag week, that's where this story begins. So with the pits partially full for
the entire week, when they started showing up in droves on Wednesday Night we
knew it was going to be big. So by the end of Thursday night the pits where once
again busting at the seems, and with some very new faces. So when the
Busters Big Dog Gamblers Race kicked off on Thursday and the Little Dog Semi Pro
race the drivers where running for some very big money, $11,000. to win the
Super Pro race, and it would come down to Adam Bitzanis and Julie Dube in her
all conquering corvette Roadster. "Bitz" was best on the tree and that was
enough to give him the win at the stripe. The Semi Pro winner had a smile on
everyone's face as Dan Pillwien a former Semi Pro Track Champion made a
triumphant return to take the win in the Semi Pro Gamblers race. Next up was the
330 shootout which was a 32 car only field that boiled down to Dale Gauthier and
Trevor Deeks of London, Ontario who was also a semi finalists in the Big Dog.
Gauthier was on the tree and that was enough to put the win light on in his lane
for the win, and the title of being the first ever "330 Shootout".
Friday started out under nothing but sunshine and warm temps and the action
on the track wa s
even hotter, as today was a full points day for everyone. More cars had come in
over night and this made for the place to be busting at the seams with race cars
and race teams, just what the doctor ordered. Jr. Dragsters was a full race
program just like Super Pro and Semi Pro and the good news was it was $500 to
win which went to Andree Alarie. Semi Pro was another points day for the super
tour and this was the taking of veteran Luskville Racer Russ Fraser who met and
defeated Ivon Gour of Sudbury. Super pro would see the first win for a door car
in this class as Bill Harling take his truck to the winners circle over Dominic
Cicceralli. Then it was time for the annual Golf Cart Race where Kyle J essup
pocketed 1600. for his efforts. So now it was on to day 8 of Drag Week 2022 and
the Saturday portion of the big one. Jr. Dragster would see London, Ontario's
Connor Riddler take home the IG Wealth Management $1000. first place prize
money. Semi Pro would boil down to young Stephen Ballantyne who would meet and
defeat Larry Lepine Jr, for all the money. Super Pro was over 80 entree's with a
pretty even split between dragsters and door cars. The finals would pit a Door
Car and a dragster with young Brody Bellefeuille taking the win light over a red
lighting Serge Forget. Then it was Burnout Contest time with Brock Godmaire
defending his title, but the defense fell short as Kevin Portaris would become
the new Pro One Burn out Champion. Then came STEAK dinner, and music by
Hwyway Sunrise which had the party rocking all night and I mean all night.
However everyone was up and at them again with one time shot at 8 am and then
right into eliminations which went off with out a hitch finishing up at 4 pm
sharp. The Jr. Dragster final would pit the winner from Saturday, Connor Ridler
and the Semi Finalist from Saturday
Samantha Chatwood in a rematch. This time Sam would take the win light and
Connor ending up with a great weekend pay out for sure. Sam was hoping to
be in the winners circle with her Uncle Kevin Cardinal who was in the Semi Pro
Final with Jim Giff, but was not to be as the Miller and Giff Maverick was much
better on the light and that was all they needed for the win. Super Pro was
extremely exciting as the finalist from the Elliot Lake Sunday race would meet
once again but this time the outcome was just the opposite. Mike Chenier would
represent the door car side and Lewis Gagne would represent the dragster side, a nd
Gagne would take one for the pencil cars with a win light and $10,000. So
with the last win light the curtain was once again closed on another Bonanza, a
very, very successful one at that, with out question in 41 years this was by all
means the very best weather we have ever had. Was it the biggest turnout we have
ever had NO, but we knew that the two years of Covid when we where pretty much
the only game in town that this new world would be different. To those that came
THANK YOU, to those that did not you missed one of the best races of all times,
and no matter what your reason was you either want drag racing to be alive
and well or you don't, and Luskville Dragway is a dedicated Bracket Racing
Track. |
