COVER:
JAY BEAULIEU PLAYS A BIG PART IN THE SUPER TOUR PROMOTIONS AND WILL DO SO IN TOP
DRAGSTER |
BITS
FROM THE PITS MAR 27/23 *Drivers meeting coming fast, as is
the 2023 racing season, things kick off April 8th at Busters Bar and Grill with
the 42 annual drivers meeting, and membership drive. Just a reminder all parking
spots and memberships must be done by then in order to secure your parking spot
for the 2023 season.
 *Bob
Langlois sent along a pic of his Nostalgia Hot Rod that is ready for this
summers
racing and its certainly brings back many memories of the early days and the
straight axle cars. Bob is of course the owner of BDL Equipment and a brand new
major advertiser at Luskville Dragway in 2023. The Pontiac powered machine was
built to run in the Nostalgia class and everyone is looking forward to seeing it
out for the first time this season.
*This
just in as we go to press, Andre Ballabey and his Montreal Trailer Sales race
team are having a very busy off season and have added yet another new car as we
get ready to hit the track. Ballabey who owns and operates Montreal Trailer
Sales, was also very instrumental in spearheading the effort to install the new
safety wall at
Luskville
Dragway is also a major advertiser with Luskville and the Super Tour. At the
beginning of the off season a new small tire Semi Pro Mustang was purchased for
daughter Noemie, which was quickly replaced with a new BIG Tire Semi Pro Car.
This week it was revealed that Andre will get back in a dragster in 2023 and
this is the first look at the new car which is a looker to say the least.
Andre is no stranger to a dragster as that is where he spend
many seasons before jumping into the street roadster that was campaigned in
2022. Look for this team to be very competitive in the chase for the
championship in the Super Tour 23. The Ballabey Race team would like to thank
the following people who helped make this happen, Fred and Frank Angers, Richard
Leblanc, Marc Crete, Steve Bud, Jean Marc Barrette, Patrick and Dan Bernier and
Luc Desbiens

RACING TRANSMISSIONS, RACERS DOING IT RIGHT: Brian Swayne has been around drag racing all of his life, in fact he and his
brother Ross were some of the original Northern Racers who would venture out
of North Bay and head to Luskville Dragway. Brian who now does it with
racing partner Tom Cline, lost his racing brother a number of years back.
Brain not only races but builds Racing Transmissions for many other drag
racers as well. Brian moved from North Bay to the Ottawa area, but missed
his home town so a year or so back moved back to his Northern Roots, but
still calls Luskville Dragway his home track and races there most weekends
with Tom. Tom owns and operates his own business as well, Thermo Logistics,
so both are kept pretty busy during the week but love to get away on the
weekends and go racing. |
SPORTS BARS ARE PART OF DRAG RACING & THINGS LOOK
PRETTY "STABLE" ON THAT FRONT FOR LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY: MAR 27/23
Drag Racers h ave
long been known for being some of the most ingenious people on this planet,
and people who seem to make things work, and work real well. I think that
adage is more than appropriate for this story as the move that Jamie Clarmo
did a couple of years ago, has turned out very, very well. Jamie and Sherri as many of
you know are drag racers, and the owners of Clarmo Auto Repair a company
that has supported Luskville Dragway for a long time. The Shop that they own
sits in a complex (plaza) that they also own, and had a restaurant that was
leased to another party. When covid hit, the leasee hit the road leaving
Jamie with an empty restaurant. Now it doesn't take a brain surgeon to
figure out there was not a line up of potential new renters, with the Covid
Pandemic and all. So the decision to take over the operations of the
facility themselves seemed like the only think they could do. Well as it
turns out, it was a great decision as the Restaurant has become a "Stable"
place to eat in the Metcalfe area, and has attracted many a drag racer over
the last year as well. In his own words Jamie is very, very pleased with the
outcome of "The Stable" Restaurant and is looking forward to the
future. So we are very pleased to announce that The Stable has signed on as
an marketing partner with Luskville Dragway for 2023 and beyond. One of the
things we already have planned is a drag race, hot rod car show and party on
August 13th in the parking lot of the restaurant, and we hope EVERYONE will
come out and support those that support us. If you follow Facebook at all
you will see that Jamie has done a masterful job of promoting the new
venture on Facebook, and no doubt has played a big part in the restaurant
having a "Stable" clientele. I should also point out that the name for the
shop came from their daughter who as many of you know is very big in horses. |
CHASSIS GURU
BRIAN WHITE OF BW RACE CARS CONTINUES STRONG SUPPORT IN 2023:
MAR 20/23
Brian White Race C ars
signed on with Luskville Dragway in 2014 and we are pleased and proud that he
will continue that support into the 2023 season and for many years to come we
hope. This NHRA Best Engineered Award winning chassis builder is only moments
away from Ottawa, and works out of a brand new shop to serve all your needs. A
race car driver at heart gives Brian the knowledge that only comes from actually
driving a fast drag car, and Brian has driven them all from quick door slammers
in the early years to rear engine dragsters today. With the new wave of wants
for the dragster guys being a front suspension Brian was extremely busy over the
last many years making a lot of drivers winners with their front suspension
conversions. One only has to look at people like Derek Malcolm (Super Pro
Track Champion)
Kyle Jessup (Super Pro Napa Tour Champ) and others, Mike
Chenier, Troy Davis, Randy Urslak, Mike Ogilvie and more to se e this.
These days Brian has designed his very own front suspension set up which he uses
on his own car and will soon be seen on many others. Brian who is a drag racer at heart brings too the table much what builders
like Richard Jones and F.J Smith do, "They are drag racers" which makes all
the difference in the world. Brian does not just curtail his work to drag cars
as many street rodder and pro street drivers have visited the Shop to have work
done. White has also made a name for himself for setting up cars , just ask ADM
Motorsports, Joel Lapierre, Larry Whitty, and Bill Harling just
to mention a few. One
of the great things about this shop is the owner is not afraid to come to
the track and work with the client in getting everything right on the car,
something that goes along way in making this shop unique. Once again we
remind people to support those that support your track, that's what keeps things
going and growing. |
BEAULIEU & BEAUDION KEEP THE TOP SPORTSMAN FIELD ON AN EVEN PLAYING
FIELD: MARCH 27/23 There has been lots of talk
and lots of excitement around the new Top Sportsman/Top Dragster race that is
scheduled for the 2023 W.O .
Stinson Bracket Bonanza and this week we have a couple more drivers committing
to it. These two drivers along with a couple of others where the reason that the
wheels starting spinning last fall and Roch Beaudion and Jerome Beaulieu have
thrown their hats in the ring. With out question when Roch bought the new car
and when Jay took delivery and debut the new and very fast dragster management
at Luskville Dragway decided that Maybe? just Maybe we would have enough fast
cars to do this. Roch and his new Pontiac have made quite an impact on these
thoughts with out question and this is a car which everyone will want to see
run. Basically a Pro Stock car with a top sportsman Big Block this car is
capable of mid 4 second pass's and is one of the best appearing cars any where
in the country. Jerome Beaulieu is another one of those drivers that helped
in making us think about a fast class, as he two debut a new dragster at the end
of 2022 and it too was very fast. Jay bought a brand new American which was met
with much excitement when it made its first pass's which where some of the
fastest pass's for any dragster ever, running at Luskville Dragway. Jerome is of
course the marketing director for the Canadian Bracket Super Tour and is very
excited for the new Top Sportsman/Top Dragster Class. Jay is also responsible
for the many cool logos that you see including many new ones for Luskville
Dragway and their advertisers. Jays is a second generation drag racer and
someone who makes his Dad very proud of the accomplishments he has made. This
brings the numbers to two door cars and two dragsters committed to the "Big One"
coming up this summer. |
BITS
FROM THE PITS MAR 20/23 *We're back, family cruise is over,
heading home and getting anxious to get the new season underway. Drivers
meeting/Practice Tree Competition is coming on us fast, so just a quick reminder
that memberships and parking spots are do April 8th. can be paid at drivers
meeting. This is a pivotal year for Luskville Dragway, over the last few years a
lot of money has been invested in the track and the whole facility, and all we
ask is for your support, and with that the sky is the limit as we have more
improvements planned. We have bigger prize money than any track in the country
and we do that to support you the racer. Please show your support by being at
the drivers meeting and supporting the track all season long.
*Brian
Ackers sent along this pic of the completely rebuilt and ready to go Dodge
of
his and brother Barry. The car has undergone a few changes and has been painted
in the very familiar Orange, but with some different black lines on the car this
time around. The update on Brian is not quite as good as their has been a small
set back in his road to recovery, but everything pointing in a positive way,
just going to take a little longer than first thought. This could affect the
timing of the return to competition but Brian is a winner and he will be back
winning drag races. What kind of person is this gentleman, during all of his
health issues he has contacted me constantly about the Acker Bros Quick Draw
Award for the Jr Dragster racers, just the kind of person he is. I know that
everyone joins me in saying we look very much forward to your return to
Luskville Dragway. |
MID MOUNTAIN
PERFORMANCE NEWEST MARKETING PARTNER AT LUSKVILLE: MAR. 20/23
Mid Mountain Performance began its life only 5 short
years ago. Little did anyone know that in 2018 when Spencer Livingston & Mike
Ladouceur started their company, the business would be
where
it is today! From what started out as late after hours & weekends in a tiny shop
has grown in 5 years to a 3 bay shop, 2 more employees & a whole lot of support
from their loyal customers to add to the business.
Mid Mountain is a full repair shop which can do
anything from just a regular oil change to any type of maintenance or repairs
you require. But it is also a high performance shop for the car enthusiast,
which can do everything right down to fine tuning your race car! Luskville
Dragway is extremely pleased that Mid Mountain has signed on as a Major
Advertiser and will carry the presenters rights to this year's first ever Top
Sportsman/Top Dragster show at Luskville Dragway Bracket Bonanza Weekend. Mid
Mountain will join BDL Equipment who is the title rights holder in making this
event possible. THANK YOU

J&S COLLISION, CONTINUES SUPPORT OF LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY IN
2023: MAR 20/23
To
say that Jamie & Shelia Tupper have been leaders in our sport for a long
time now, would be putting it mildly. From their very first big dollar
bracket win in Elliot Lake, which seems like a long time ago (1999), they have lead
the way in local drag racing. Whether it be with there success in getting
too the winners circle, their success of making more friends than Santa
Clause or their desire to help as many racers as they can along the way. And
in the case of Luskville Dragway and the Napa Tour, Jamie and Shelia have
always gone above and beyond to help out in one way or another, including by
bringing new drivers to the table as well as advertising dollars. The
success that we talk about at the race tracks that they travel too, is just
an extension of their success in business as their J&S Collision would be
the envy of many in that type of work. Located in Tilsonburg, Ontario it
makes for many long drives to get too races in the US, Eastern and Northern
Ontario, but
that has never stopped this team from going and taking part in
what they love too do.
Tupper who is a former Napa Tour Super Pro Champion, Driver of the Year
recipient, and $50,000. Winner in Michigan, has been a leader for the expansion and improvement of drag racing
with Luskville Dragway and the Tours. You would be very hard pressed to find
anyone who is more popular at any race track than this couple, and you would be
hard pressed to find anyone who is more supportive than Jamie and Shelia.
Because of this very successful and busy business Jamie does not get out as much
as he would like but always manages to make the Bracket Bonanza at Luskville
Dragway. Their support is continues in 2023 and for that we cant thank them
enough. |
WE HAVE OUR FIRST TOP SPORTSMAN/TOP DRAGSTER
ENTREE'S FOR BRACKET BONANZA: MAR 20/23
We have been holding off on any entree announcement's for
the BDL Elite 16 Top Sportsman/Top Dragster Race August 3-4-5 at this years
Bracket Bonanza, as we have been concentrating on the Busters Big Dog Race. But
as we close in on racing season getting underway here we go, with our first 4
entree's in qualified 16 car field which will see 8 door cars and 8 dragsters
ONLY qualify for $5000. to win. Leading the way is a man who has done a
incredible amount for Luskville Dragway since
coming on the scene and continues
to do so to this day. Mike Chenier who is one of those racers who wants to go
down the drag strip as many times as he can on any given weekend will field to
cars in the Elite 16. Mike who is the owner of Speedy Auto Service in Gatineau a
major marketing partner at Luskville Dragway will enter his undercover blown
Chevy dragster on the digger side and his "Demon" Corvette on the door car side
of the ladder. This is a first time ever Top Sportsman/Top Dragster event but
starting new things is not anything new to Luskville Dragway. We where the first
locally to run super gas back in the eighties, we where the first to run split
ladders and now almost everyone does it. We where also the first to run Door Pro
which we believe that along with split ladders rebuilt the dwindling door
car contingent of drag racers. Today we are almost a 50/50 split with door cars
and dragsters. We welcome Mike as our first entree's and invite all others to
let us know you will be running in this class come this years Bracket Bonanza. |
BITS
FROM THE PITS MAR 6/23 *Well here we are, on the down side of
winter with only a month until the drivers meeting at Busters Bar & Grill April
8th. We would also remind everyone that parking/memberships are due on that
April 8th Date as well, spots not paid for by then will be open for anyone. We
may be off line for a week as well as we head out on a family vacation, (all 10
of us) something we have not done since 2018 so very much looking forward
to it.
*We have our first
commitment's for the BDL Elite 16 Top Sportsman/Top Dragster race at this years
Bracket Bonanza Event. We will start posting those that plan on running the
first ever show on our next posting, which will be two weeks from this one. We
also have a brand new advertiser that has signed on to be the presenter of this
very big race, and we will be yelling that name from the Mountain Top next web
site post which will be in two weeks.
*ANTRIM TRUCK
STOP will mark its second year of advertising support of Luskville Dragway
The business which is owned by Tom Orr and his daughter Kim is one of the
best known names in the Ottawa Valley having been around for many many
years. Tommy who is a well known drag racer purchased the business a few
years back and has brought it much more notoriety than it has ever had, with
Facebook promotions, car shows and much much more. Tom who has been a drag
racer at Luskville Dragway all of his life, originally hales from Shawville
Quebec which is about 30 minutes from the small NHRA Drag Strip. Mr. Orr is
another one of those "liked by all" guys at the track and too have Tommy
continue our advertising
family makes one feel pretty good.
*Well
made another trip down to Bradenton Motorsports Park in Florida for the World
Series o f
Pro Mods on Friday past, and it don't matter what race track you are at the
weather man is the total boss. The land surrounding Bradenton is being developed
for home subdivisions and I'm sure you have heard of the fights that the owner
of the track has been having with that. With the winds being unbearable it
caused for an eight hour delay, as it was blowing large amounts of sand on the
track and down through the pits, at times it was like a dessert sand storm.
Tents where destroyed as was a number of awnings, the track did however get
things cleaned up and proceeded to be prepped with some qualifying beginning
shortly after 6 pm. But once again it proved it don't matter where you are or
what track your at, the weather man is the ultimate "BOSS". CONGRATULATIONS
TO CANADIANS Spencer Hyde for winning the BIGGEST PRO MOD RACE IN HISTORY the
$100,000. World Series of Pro Mod. And also to Melanie Salami for her win in the
B-Main Pro Mod race. |
HINTON AUTOMOTIVE/WEST CARLETON AUTOMOTIVE
CONTINUE STRONG SUPPORT OF LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY: MAR 6/23
We are extremely plea sed
to announce that the title right holder of the Big Bill Board at Luskville
Dragway will be back with the NHRA Track in 2023 and beyond. Vern & Cathy
Hinton the owner of both of these companies which operate out of a very new and
very big shop on 126 Walgreen Road in Stittsville, Ontario have been big
supporters of Motorsports in our area for a long time. Vern who has owned
Hinton Automotive for many years, and a few years back purchased the West Carleton Automotive
Machine Shop and Engine building business from Larry Aslagsen who has been a
fixture in the drag racing world for decades in this area. This company is
as close as you can get too a big box aut omotive and performance shop, with
the ability to supply you with what ever you need from general maintenance
to full tilt performance. 2023 will mark 42 years that West Carleton Automotive has been supporting Luskville
Dragway and the Drag Racers of this area. The shop which is state of the art
includes a Dyno to test the race engines long before they see the race
track. And whether it is a big block Dodge, a small block Chevy or any other
type West Carleton not only has the ability but also has the history and the
record to build what ever you need. Just ask Drivers like Ralph Coe who relies on Dodge
Power from Hinton/West Carleton to make his Polara a very strong contender. Yes
in the drag racing community this shop can handle what ever make or brand
you have when it comes to making horse power, work done by seasoned veterans
of the machine shop and engine building business's. Now after that you would
think that only drag motors come out of this shop and that is very far from
the truth as Stock Car Racing, High Performan ce Boat Engines, Truck and
Tractor Pulling and just plane old street car performance engines are a
regular occurrence out of this shop.
The Hinton Automotive side of the building is where the general automotive
repair goes on, but besides this work there is a great deal of performance
minded stuff as well. Many of the street scene and hot rods locally depend on
Vern and the Team for any type of work they require and not just from the engine
point of view which they obviously have all wrapped up with the West Carleton
Division. But this shop can also do Chassis work, performance installation, I have even been in when
fiberglass work
was being done on a hood scoop for a race car, so yes when we say anything you
need, you can get when it comes to Automotive, general or performance. We would
like too thank Vern and Cathy Hinton for their continue support of Luskville
Dragway and their support of the Motorsports World in our area. |
INTERSTATE
BATTERIES CHARGES INTO 2023 WITH LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY: MAR 6.23
I nterstate
Batteries is no stranger to Motorsports Marketing, and Interstate Batteries
is no stranger to marketing with Luskville Dragway, and we will continue the second decade of doing just that in
2023. Having Interstate Batteries on board once again this year is not just
a good thing, its a great thing, as being involved with a company that is so
involved in Motorsports makes one feel pretty good that they have chosen
Luskville Dragway as well. Interstate Batteries is with out question the best
known name in the Battery business, and that has come about because of their
HUGE involvement with all aspects of Motorsports. With the assistance of Ja mes Locke, the man in charge in this
part of the country, Luskville Dragway has had the pleasure to have
Interstate involved for over 2 decades now. Interstate Batteries is a lot
more than just car batteries, which is what many of us tend to believe, they
carry and sell anything that has anything to do with batteries, and any type
of batteries. Once again in 2023 Interstate Batteries and Interstate Battery
Center will be one of a number of Bracket Bonanza Class Presenters. And also
again this year look for the Interstate Batteries Pace Car to be on display
at the track on big weekends. This
support is greatly appreciated and with out this type of support an event
with the stature of the Bracket Bonanza would not see the success it has and
does. Support those that Support us, buy an Interstate Battery the next time
you require a battery. |
LENTECH AUTOMATICS CONTINUES TO RIDE HIGH WITH LUSKVILLE DRAGWAY:
MAR 6/23
Lentech
Automatics is no stranger to Luskville Dragway, and their scoreboard signage
has been riding high for many years now. Chris Nugteren the owner of this
well know performance transmission shop is also no stranger to the NHRA
Facility in Luskville Quebec, and we will have the pleasure of seeing him
even more this upcoming season. As we head into another year of
marketing partnership with Luskville Dragway. Chris would like everyone to
know that even though the shop is famous for its Ford Performance Trans,
they work on, and build any make or brand with the same qualifications and
results.
Lentech takes pride in providing you with the most innovative AOD/4R70
transmission technology available. Every product is fully tested and backed
by an unprecedented warranty. They are also committed to continual
development of new products and refinement of existing products. Their
technical staff is trained to recommend only components appropriate to your
equipment combination. They specialize in the high
performance modification
of Ford automatic overdrive transmissions for street or strip. But not just
for Fords. They also supply adapter solutions that allow fitment of
your LENTECH modified Ford Overdrive to a GM or Chrysler, with equally good
results! You won’t find a more complete selection of AOD/4R70 products
anywhere. So if you need a high performance edge, you need a LENTECH…
We welcome Lentech back to Luskville Dragway and hope everyone will come out
and join in on their cruise nights. Lentech will return as the official title rights holder to the
Left lane
score board at Luskville Dragway as well a signage space they have had for
many years now. |
